Newton View Reviews

The Apartment with the Terrace was beautiful, even down to the Bread, butter milk & orange juice was a lovely & welcome surprise. Excellent property and the swimming pool complimented the whole experience, thank you we will return
This is a lovely property in an amazing location. Short walk to sea and village. Quiet and peaceful. There is a wonderful swimming pool which you get solo use of through a booking system, though recent expansion of the property means that you have to be on the ball to book a slot at beginning or end of the day. No problems if you are not fussed about the timing. Would be improved by laundry facilities at the high price, these would usually be available at similar properties. But these are not advertised so you know what you are not getting.
Beautiful place in a gorgeous location. The flat was well appointed and the kitchen had a full stock of utensils, potspans, cutlery, etc. We also appreciated that the fridge was stocked with some basic supplies. The pool was great and we thought the booking system worked well. We also enjoyed the information booklet and maps. The biggest negative for us was the lack of a clothes washer or dryer not just in the flat, but the whole building. Putting in a washerdryer, or a small shared facility, needs to be a priority. For the price of the place, asking guests to take a half day to wash their laundry in a laundromat in an industrial park in Alnwick is a bit much. Another annoyance is that the flat is directly above the pool and one of the showers bellows like two mating elephants. Please fix it! It was our wakeup alarm every day. Finally, a chest of drawers in each room would be welcome.
Newton View was immaculate but there were was one large drawback no access to anywhere to do some laundry. We were on a travelling holiday and needed to wash some clothes. We ended up in Alnwick at the excelkent laundrette there. However, the amount we had to pay to rent the property should include access to one washing machine. Newton View is above the swimming pool and is sometimes very warm.

We had a great time. The apartment was superb for the 2 of us. We had a great view and enjoyed the pool a few times during our stay. Only thing would say shower was small with not much room to move once inside otherwise no criticism at all. Also North Farm team were efficient in sorting last minute changes when Sykes did not deliver the service we required. Thank you
We had a wonderful week in Newton View apartment. Swimming pool is amazing! Fantastic walks and visits to Lindisfarne and Alnmouth. Great places to eat locally and lovely village shop. Our only disappointment was the noise transference from apartment above. The couple were not necessary noisy but we could hear them moving about and they were night owls! We would like to visit again and maybe stay in a cottage next time.
Perfect location and the swimming pool on site was great!
Wonderful location and very thoughtful welcome pack. Great walks down to the beach. Facilities within property are excellent. Just a couple of commments We were woken on 3 consecutive days at 8am by building work directly outside bedroom windows digger, cement mixer and stihl saw. We understand work may be necessary but a word of communication would have been helpful. Also the steps at the pool are very short to facilitate exit from the water safely for many people especially with any mobility problems. It was a worry for both able bodied and less mobile. Just one extra step would make all the difference. There was never anyone in the office to report a broken WC plunger.
Sykes was amazing. I will definitely return on a holiday. The cottages made it extra special being in Northumberland. Hated to leave. Clean. Pretty. Home away from home.
Rebecca
The accommodation was spotlessly clean and lots of little extras were provided that made it feel like a home from home. The location was fantastic and the children loved the pool. We had a fantastic stay, thank you!
Stephen
The property was very well presented and the supply of essentials a nice touch. We had no issues during our stay, we were very pleased with the accommodation. The only thing Id mention is that maybe the bathroom wall mirror should be checked out as a precaution, its attachment looked a bit suspect. We didn't touch it just in case. We would definitely use again. Oh and the pool was excellent.
Had a fantastic week In Northumberland. The whole place was amazing and swimming pool was perfect with the 5 times. A great place to then explore the area and excellent to be so close to so many beaches. Incredible view and scenery around the property. The property was very well equipped, clean, tidy and an incredible place to visit. Would go again. Thanks it was an amazing break.
Really enjoyed our stay. Would definitely go again.
Another excellent stay at North Farm cottages.
Newton View Cottage & the pool was excellent, only wish was, it should have ... Newton View Cottage & the pool was excellent, only wish was, it should have TV's in the bedrooms I will be going back next year Thanks North Farm
Alison
View is spectacular from the living room and balcony. Apartment on the first floor no lift is modern and well equipped. Reasonable internet for the remote location. TV has a built in DVD player but not bluray . Bathroom was very nice with a bath and plentiful hot water. Nice walk to the coast path and Low Newton Ship Inn check opening times!. Village is 15 minutes walk. All nearby pubs should be booked for evening meals
Richard
Excellent location. Well equipped, comfortable and modern accomodation. Will definitely return.
Joanne
Lovely apartment, lovely views. The only negative was the hour slots we were given for the swimming pool. 4 out of our 5 slots were between 10 and 4 which is rubbish when you want to go out for the day! Other properties seemed to get a much better deal!
Tracey
Would be great if you could trade slots in the pool with other cottages or buy additional slots eg we were out of the pool extremely promptly on Sunday for the next peopleonly to find later that nobody went in for the rest of the day after us! Apartment is a good one but we felt the bed linen, towels & sofas have all seen better days. Otherwise we enjoyed our week but unlikely to be back next summer as the price rise for the same week is far too much. 800 this year, fine but over 1k for same week next year no way.
Great location with lovely views of the coast, balcony fairly shelter which made it possible to sit outside and enjoy the morning sunshine, however a table would have been useful to put drinks on. Ideal place for a relaxing holiday with lovely walks from the door and the pool was an added bonus, would definitely consider going back.
Wonderful location. Great to be able to book hour slots at pool.
Claire
We had a lovely 4 nights at Newton View. The apartment was immaculately clean and even better than the photos suggested. The indoor pool is a huge asset to the accommodation. We enjoyed an hour session each day of our stay with our two year old son. It was great to have the pool to ourselves and be able to book slots on arrival. We know the area well and it was a good base for the nearby beaches and castles. We would love to return!
A nest of tables would be very useful to stand cups etc on.
Tracey
Great location and apartment loved being able to open the curtains on a morning and see the sea, with Bamburgh Castle to the north and Dunstanburgh to the south. The balcony was sheltered enough so that even on relatively chilly mornings we could still sit out on a morning and get the warmth from the sun. Great location for a base to explore all around Northumberland. Fantastic having the swimming pool on site too! Good idea having the key safe so you don't have to go and find a key holder when you arrive and leave. Only other things I would mention are i some cubes of broken glass on the balcony that were swept away to the edge but why not removed? ii Strange positioning of the fridge freezer and waste bin meant if you wanted to use them you had to walk round from the kitchen into the living room then back to the kitchen OR move the 3 seater sofa. But would still recommend the apartment and facilities! Can highly recommend The Rolling Pin cafe and Turnbulls food hall both in Alnwick, for a great range of local produce. The Fish Shack on the pier in Amble do a fantastic range of seafood dishes and Kielder Observatory is worth a visit although it's extremely remote needs to be booked in advance though. Barter Books in Alnwick is well worth a visit you could lose yourself for hours in there and the little cafe is superb.
The room and pool were spotless. This was our third visit so we knew what to expect. The two sofas are too soft for my disabled husband but they provided us with a solid chair for which we were most grateful. We asked to use the pool on a day when we didnt have an allotted time and were given a time belonging to an unoccupied house for which we were most grateful. The staff are most obliging and helpful. This is outstanding accommodation with beautiful views and excellent walks and beaches on the doorstep.
Geoffrey
Excellent self catering accommodation. Well equipped kitchen, bathroom with a bath and a shower cubicle. Two large patio windows with wonderful views across the fields to the sea. A fifteen minute walk into Embleton.
Nicola
We had stayed at North Farm cottages before in another property, and we certainly werent disappointed this time. The pool makes a fantastic addition, and its great to get a few essentials in the property, like milk, tea and coffee. Literally the only thing I can feedback on is that we wished it had stated a DVD player as we would have taken some to watch from home it wasnt on the details. The property was clean, bright and had fantastic views well be back for a 3rd visit soon!
Great location. Fantastic amenities at North Farm. Good bus service from village. Brilliant area for walking and bird watching.
Michelle
We absolutely loved it, the location was brilliant and the facilities absolutely superb. We had everything we needed in our cottage and liked the rota for pool usage.
Lorraine
Newton view and the building it is in is new, bright, modern and well designed with a veranda to sit and look at uninterrupted fields and sea. The swimming pool downstairs in the same building is private, bright, airy and enjoyable. The location is a great base for driving to either Lindisfarne, Bamburgh castle or Alnwick and is just a 20 minute walk to the sea and glorious beach on a managed grass path direct from the apartment. We cant fault the place at all and would thoroughly recommend staying at Newton view.
Louise
Lovely, clean apartment with everything you need. The views are amazing. The swimming pool is a great bonus. Can highly recommend and would definitely return.
Graham
Disappointed swimming pool wasn't available every day. Fabulous location and views. Very relaxing.
Robert
We had an extremely relaxing week at Newton View, property was clean and well looked after, view is amazing and it has all the facilities you'd expect plus the use of the pool. Only slight downside with the use of the pool is the rota system which could be a bit restrictive but does mean only one accommodation can use the pool at a certain time. However that is a minor issue and we would definitely be happy to stay here again in the future.
The swimming pool was very good enjoyed it very much even enjoyed the pre allocated swim times to each appartment only problem was when we did not have a swim time given at all on two days of our holiday on a 7 day holiday this ment only 5 days swimming of which one of these was our last day. out of the apartment for 10 AM swim session being given 8.30.to 9.30 quite a rush which would have made it only 4 days to swim had we not taken this slot other than this we enjoyed it very much. Family holiday
Rachel
I spent a lot of time looking for the perfect place to stay for our week away, due to the nature of our jobs, and the age of our children, so having a happy medium of R&R and plenty to do, it was awesome! !!! Absolutely wonderful in fact, with the beautiful views and the nature right there in front of you, with the sunset and sunrises and the beach just a walk away the apartment was perfect in every way possible. Then all the activities near by filled up our fun filled days out with plenty of lovely places to eat out too! And what an awesome ice cream parlour in Seahouses there was that we went to and had the most awesome sundaes! After a lovely meal of fish and chips from just over the road. The children loved having use of the new pool to ourselves that made them feel special, and what a lovely well kept farm it is too, we would love to visit again sometime.
