Waters Edge Reviews

This is the sixth time we have stayed in one or other of the properties in this row. Waters Edge has been updated with a lovely new bathroom with shower cubicle and also new kitchen worktops. The property is heated with an air source heat pump which is very efficient and there are nice prints throughout. For those who have not stayed before the property has its lounge diner upstairs with uninterrupted views across open fields to the sea with full height windows opening onto decking for alfresco dining.
We loved our stay at Waters Edge. Great location, easy walk to the beach and also local conveniences. The view from the balcony was glorious each morning overlooking the nature reserve, coast & Dunstanburgh Castle in the distance. We particularly enjoyed the fact that this is an upsidedown house....the bedrooms being downstairs remained lovely & cool in the heat and having the living area upstairs made the most of the wonderful vista.
Carolyn
Waters Edge is a gorgeous property in a wonderful location. The property has everything you need and is spacious and very light and bright with an amazing view from the balcony. It was spotlessly clean and the provisions of coffee, tea, milk and biscuits very welcome. The local area has the shop which provides a good selection of fresh and frozen goods mainly from local producers. It's a bit expensive but great quality. There are two local pubs both serving food within a very short walking distance. The beach is easy to walk to but has a slight incline. However to help anyone with mobility issues the golf club has a car park and you can also eat in or out of the clubhouse until 5pm. The location is dogfriendly and there are tons of walks to enjoy from the doorstep. Don't miss the nature reserve which is 5 minutes away. The only downside for us was the parking. The property literature stated a designated space and two visitor's spaces. There is definitely one space but I think you'd struggle to find a second and third space when all the properties are let. I'm sure you could probably park on the street outside
Hi, we have been coming to this cottage for a number of years and over time they have started to make changes for the better. At the moment I think the whole insde needs a good painting to spruce it up as it's looking abit tired? But the location is great for Northumberland.
Alistair
Very comfortable and well equipped, ideally situated in Embleton with fantastic view over the bay. Great for a relaxing stay with 15 min walk to the beach. Could do with a wee decor update, but we had a fantastic stay.
Andrew
This property is in an excellent location and affords a superb view from the firstfloor balcony out to Embleton Bay and Dunstanburgh Castle however as others have commented it is need of some upgrade works. The kitchen is very dated, the bathroom is starting to look tatty and the dcor throughout needs refreshing. We had a very pleasant stay but unfortunately the price charged was excessive given the current condition of the property.
Caroline
Love this property, had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, made friends with a flock of sheep in the field right outside and the dog didnt bark at them surprisingly, but the views from the balcony are absolutely stunning, the photos really dont do it justice, all my worries just floated away, we were extremely lucky with the weather too which always helped. My family have said Im going to struggle to find somewhere to beat it next year so maybe well just have to come again xx The only minor criticism was that the little garden downstairs could do with a little weeding and a few flowers maybe but apart from that fantastic.
Andrew
The previous reviews are accurate great basis for a property but its tired and there are maintenance issues. Has obviously had the heating changed to airsouce in recent years moved new radiators new pipework but the job hasn't been finished old radiator mounts very viable basic boxing in of pipes functional but not pretty kitchen very 'of the moment'. But that is not why we visited the balcony is great Embleton is nice and the Northumbria beaches are fab. The place is fine its just at a bit of a premium price that current the state of the property doesn't match. We are not bothered by the dcor others may be and the price probably should mean they shouldn't be disappointed we weren't bothered and we would stay again but if others were available might opt for them only because we felt we were paying a premium and the finish didn't warrant the premium but its fine , functional and location and balcony are great. Hope this comes across as balanced so near to the finish line but not quite over it.
Jennifer
The property was beautiful. Could do with blackout curtains or blinds in the bedrooms. The view from the balcony was stunning. Very peaceful and relaxing just what we wanted.
Nice cottage in need of some upgrading. Stunning location and views
Caroline
Waters Edge reverse layout, bedrooms downstairs, living room, kitchen upstairs makes the most of the spectacular views down to the beach and Dunstanburgh Castle. The cottage was very well equipped and was a fantastic base for exploring the Northumbrian coast. It was ideal for my two dogs, one a very elderly Jack Russell, as there is an old quarrynature reserve practically alongside as well as a stunning beach a km down a quiet lane. The farm shop in the village is a very welcome addition and the village of Embleton is quiet and unspoilt. It is worth getting up early, simply to watch the sunrise and had it been a little warmer, it would have been lovely to breakfast on the balcony. I visited the 1st week of March. I hope to return to Waters Edge in the not too distant future.
The property is in a great location and we have been coming to Embelton for some 20 yrs. We have been staying in this property on and off for over 5yrs now, but it is due some TLC. For the second week of our holiday we had to move to Links view next door, which was a breath of fresh air and I recommend the own of this propertyWaters Edge has a peak inside Links view to see what can be done with abit of TLC
