Stable D'or Reviews

We booked the cottage for Christmas for 5 adults and it was overwhelmingly the right place. The view of the sea and the ability to walk down to the beach made for a memorable Christmas morning walk whilst the turkey was happily cooking in a really well equipped kitchen. It was warm so much so that we never actually needed the wood burning stove and the combined space for cooking sitting and eating was more than adequate for post Christmas lunch loungng ! It woud be a lovely place to stay in the summer as well with the short stroll to Embleton and it 3 pubs and shop a real bonus We never used the pool but it is a great addition to the facilities and the provision of pool towels a thoughtful touch. Ditto some welcoming supplies in the fridge and grocery department Small gripes from younger guests 30 year old children TV rather geriatric a rather disturbing tendency to blackout for a few seconds before coming back to life andnot compatible with streaming. Downtairs bathroom rather cramped and badly lit.

Beautiful accommodation, contained everything we needed, comfortable and well set out. Gorgeous surroundings and perfect location for the sights.
Great place, lovely house, view fantastic and we did the walk to the sea and ... Great place, lovely house, view fantastic and we did the walk to the sea and from there to the cricket club for a drink and then on the road with the gate code back to Stable dors, We have seen a lot like Beemish town , great, causeway, and the pool was great to but we did not understand how to fill the paper in , over all great stay
A beautiful location and a well maintained site with great views of the coast and Dunstanburgh castle. House was clean and well maintained although the kitchen could be better equipped for those wanting to do more serious cooking. Very nice pool and a good booking system which, although it limited use, meant it had space when you got your chance. Embleton beach is amongst the most attractive sandy stretches in Britain and while the grey seal colony on the boat trip from Seahouses is a must do the random dolphins swimming off the Castle were the most magical moment

The accommodation was great but it would have been more appropriate if the downstairs bathroom had a walk in shower rather than a Bath which you had to climb into to have a shower, not very suitable for older guests with mobility problems. They had to climb the stairs to the more suitable walk in showe upstairs.
Great holiday, great cottage and kids loved the swimming pool and parkgrass area to play on. Only tiny downside is the distance to the beach was too far to walk for a 4yr old and a 2 yr old and definitely not pram friendly! Not a huge issue as you can drive five mins and park for free much nearer Would absolutely come again

Accommodation was perfect for our needs. Well appointed and very clean. Little touches like bread, milk and butter were very much appreciated as were things like dishwasher tablets and tea towels etc. Would highly recommend.
Caroline
We had a wonderful stay. Cottage was very comfortable and the welcome pack was thoughtful and delicious. Wed love to visit again. Thank you.
We were very pleased with our stay at Stable D'Or. The property had everything we needed. It was well maintained and very confortable. The mowed path to the village made it so easy to get out in the evening and sample the local hostelries, which were excellent. The property had wood laminate floors in the living area which did not bnother our dog but maybe an issue for other dog owners. We would definietly visit again.
Veronica
Beautiful site and the cottage very spacious and user friendly. I've stayed at several of the cottages and all have been delightful. Great addition of the pool which is excellent. Also on site are hairdressers and beautician. Fantastic pub and farm shop just a stroll away.
Victoria
The situation near best beach and spaciousness of house excellent. The pool is a big draw too. However there are serious down sides to our experience. The bedding had winter duvets, when I enquired there was no recourse to having a blanket and sheet or summer covering. The down stairs bedroom has large windows with such thin curtains that the baby was unable to sleep there. Please provide blinds . The house is advertised as catering for 6 . The largest pan and frying pans were too small to cook easily . These are expensive properties and our 2nd visit back to my childhood home, A few improvements would have allowed everyone have good sleep. On the positive side Allan quickly got our boiler fixed after having no gas and hot water for a day.
We had a lovely week staying at Stable DOr in Embleton. Our cottage was perfect & exactly how it was listed. We had a few starter items in the kitchen on our arrival milk, butter, juice & bread a nice touch. Everywhere was clean, tidy & upto date. The site was smart, tidy & the childrens play area was great. The swimming pool was brilliant, modern & clean. Just a generally great holiday let & site, close the village of Embleton with a good village shop. Thank you for a memorable first holiday to Northumberland, we will definitely stay here again.
Having our accommodation cancelled at the last minute because of flooding, we were a little apprehensive about its replacement, Stable Dor. However it turned out to be perfect for our group of four adults. It was warm, comfortable and well equipped. We particularly appreciated its position, its view and the walk across the fields to the beach. We greatly enjoyed our holiday and visited many of the delights of Northumberland within either walking distance or a short drive, including Lindisfarne and the Farne Islands. Large towels for every room and blackout curtains for the main bedroom would have been appreciated but these are minor observations. Overall, Stable Dor exceeded our expectations and thoroughly deserves 5 stars!
Hannah
Our second stay here. A great place, accommodation was spotless, great for a family holiday. The kids loved the pool. Hope to be back again!
Excellent property, very comfortable, the only thing that would have improved it at all would have been if we could have accesses freebies or our Amazon Prime account to watch programmes on tge evenings we were in. Great location, lovely place, well be back!
Madeleine
The property was was excellent except for one or 2 exceptions. The 2 steps leading up to the living room and bathroom are still dangerous in spite of the strip across the top. It needs another strip on the bottom step as when you come back down because all the flooring is the same colour it is blind . The side table lamps in the bedrooms are exactly that and not reading lights and so I had to keep on the main lights to read. The top bedroom doesnt have an accessible mirror . Everything else was perfect and a Thankyou for the items that were left for us to enjoy
Nathan
Thankyou for an amazing week. We thought that the location was perfect. We loved walking to the beach and the tranquility of the surrounding area. The pool was an amazing facility. We enjoyed visiting Edinburgh, Cragside, Seahouses, Craster and relaxing at Low Newton. We need to come back to explore more of Northumberland, a week wasn't enough. Idyllic!
Arlene
Lovely property which met all our expectations. The property was beautifully decorated and maintained and of the highest quality. The location was second to none and we even managed to spot dolphins from the living room window with binoculars. Fab! Feeding the ducks every day was fun with our grandson. Swimming pool was excellent although booking system was a little ad hoc. Overall we had an great stay.
Victoria
Beautiful property and space. No alternative to a hot duvet, on a warm Northumbrian week. If you are trying to be environmentally friendly maybe less grass mowing and weed killers and more allowing the wild flowers to grow.
We had a wonderful holiday thank you! The only feedback I have is that the curtains need black out lining it was so bright and woke everyone early in the morning. It was also tricky to get swimming spots, people had not stuck to the rules! Only through asking a member of staff were we able to get a morning slot. Thanks would defo book again!
Grateful that an early check in granted for a vulnerable adult in our party. Would have appreciated more mugs etc as we had to put dishwasher on frequently to accommodate. Also only enough logs to light the log burner on one evening for a weeks seemed ungenerous , though the property was warm with central heating would have preferred to switch heating down and enjoy the burner . The one thing which did cause major issues was that the soundproofing was poor the main bedroom downstairs was lovely and spacious ,but sleep was disturbed as could even hear people turning over in bed in the bedroom upstairs ,not to mention footfall going to bathroom !
Suzanne
Great cottage, very well brought together. Excellent facilities, would easily recommend. Factual inaccuracies. This property is NOT 20mins walk to beach. Bigger mugs would be perfect. Mattress cover as a plastic sheet is sweaty, something better would be in line with a high spec cottage. Thank you for looking after us, we will be back.
Kirsten
Lovely cottage in a gorgeous spot. Well equipped and the beead, mik etc on arrival was a nice touch. The pool booking system really spoilt our holiday unfortunately as all the morning slots were taken for the week by the time we got there so we could only get middle of the day meaning planning a day out wasn't possible. Also 5 x 1hr slots doesn't feel much when you've paid such a lot. Also the check in and out times were quite unreasonable at 5pm and 9.30am. Much more used to around a 3pm check in and 1011am check out which would have felt more fair given the price we paid.
We had a wonderful week in Stable Dor, well equipped cottage with lovely views, we loved using the pool most days and the kids enjoyed the play park onsite. Great base for exploring Northumberland, we are hoping to book again for next Summer.
Hilary
A really lovely cottage. Very well equipped and extremely comfortable. The swimming pool was much appreciated and it was always warm and clean. The walk to Embleton bay is a good 20 minutes but worth the effort. This is a great base to enjoy this part of Northumberland.
Cheryl
Lovely cottage and wonderful pool. Great location. Responded well to issues. It would be helpful to say bring matches for the stove. We nearly slipped and fell over on a patch of the living room floor that was very slippery. No kitchen essentials not even salt and pepper. Kit very small for 6 people. They need to think about large baking dishespans. It's a bit much asking people to fill the dishwasher, strip the beds and dispose of all rubbish before 9.30am. And to arrive after 4pm. We've paid for the day and just got the evening. When we found the recycling there were no facilities for paper and card. This would have been useful info.
Amazing location. Lovely clean cottage. Great swimming pool. Loved every minute and looking forward to coming back next year!
Sophie
Lovely week with our 4 year old and my parents. The accommodation was beautiful and well maintained with everything you need. The setting is beautiful and an easy drive to everything. The facilities on site were great and we all had a fab time.
Thomas
