Is Jubilee House Right For You?

Discover why this cottage is ideal for different types of visitors

For Families
A children's play park sits directly opposite the property. The beach is just 15 minutes away on foot for sandcastle building and rock pooling. Alnwick Castle offers Harry Potter filming locations and interactive displays 7 miles away. The spacious garden provides safe outdoor play space. Multiple bedrooms mean kids can have their own space. Dunstanburgh Castle ruins are perfect for adventurous exploration.
For Couples
This property isn't ideal for couples wanting an intimate retreat. The five-bedroom layout and capacity for 12 guests makes it better suited to larger groups. The spacious rooms and multiple living areas would feel empty for just two people. Couples seeking coastal romance would benefit from smaller properties nearby. However, the location near beaches and castles offers romantic day trips.
Pet Friendly
Jubilee House welcomes two well-behaved pets as standard with more considered on request. The shared lawned front garden and private back patio provide outdoor space for dogs. Embleton's coastal location offers excellent dog walking opportunities along the beach. Northumberland's Heritage Coastline features numerous dog-friendly paths and trails. The nearby pub accepts dogs too. Ground-floor access makes it convenient for older pets.

Jubilee House Reviews

Norman
We stayed at Jubilee house from Friday to Monday for the family to celebrate a 75th Birthday. 8 Adults and 3 Children and a dog were all accommodated easily, In the five bedrooms, all on suite and underflow heating. Downstairs a large sitting room and a large dinning room to fit 12 A large kitchen with all the amenities we needed. Very clean and tidy when we arrived and tried to leave it as we found it. The weather didn't allow us to use the very large patio area. We a very nice meal at the Dunstanburgh Castel Hotel in the village, Highly recommended. As his Jubilee House. Thank you for a great weekend.
We have recently returned from a fabulous stay at Jubilee House. We're a group of twelve friends who were staying to celebrate a birthday and enjoy a weekend together. Embleton is a well appointed village with a lovely shop and post office, local pub, a hotel serving good food and a ten minute walk to the coast and amazing scenery. Jubilee House was perfect for us, a well equipped kitchen, dining room with table large enough for us to eat together and enough seats in the lounge for us all to be comfortable. The added bonus was a bathroom for each bedroom so no queuing when we were all getting changed for a night out. Hopefully we'll be back, for a large group this property will be difficult to beat.

Great house for large family get together. Excellent facilities, location and space to party!
Jubilee House has much to recommend it. It is situated in a beautiful area with access to the striking Northumbrian Coast, Holy Island, Bamburgh, Alnwick and some attractive houses and gardens. Embleton has a farm shop, convenience store, and several good places to eat. The house is spacious with a dining room easily capable of accommodating twelve people, a comfortable sitting room and five en suite bedrooms. There is a large garden and a patio for barbeques and outdoor entertainment for the warmer summer months. Our party, ten friends who met at university in 1962 and hence not in the first flush of youth, were autumn visitors. We were disconcerted to discover, on arrival on Friday evening, that the central heating was not working, that one of the two phone numbers for contacting the owner no longer functioned and the other went to voice mail. Sykes helped us to contact the owner on Saturday and a plumber duly arrived. His opinion, which we have no way of verifying, was that the boiler had not been serviced recently, and that it was not capable of repair. On Monday the old boiler was removed and on Wednesday a new one was fitted so we had central heating for the first time that evening but unfortunately not the next morning because the boiler had turned itself off. On Thursday the plumber returned and when we departed on Friday the boiler was still working. Fortunately the hot water system was separate so we were able to shower. The owner was apologetic and did give us a 12 refund on the cost of our rental. Clearly the problem with the boiler was a major issue but there are number of concerns, some of which may not have been notified to the owner by previous visitors, but about which a little more attention to detail could make significant improvements. Two of the five bathrooms had heated towel rails that worked independently of the boiler, two in other rooms required the boiler to provide them with heat and one in the fifth bedroom didnt work at all. We could find no way of controlling the temperature of the towel rails nor of the overenthusiastic underfloor heating in the bathrooms when it worked. Some of the bedside lamps flickered and required careful adjustments with the switch to function properly, two of the rooms only had one bedside light. Perhaps inevitably at the end of the season, as broken ones are randomly replaced, there was an eclectic collection of glasses but there was not a complete set of large forks and we had to request a full set of table mats because we did not wish to damage the dining table. It would be helpful to have instruction booklets for the washing machine and dryer and an unbroken clothes horse. The beds were very comfortable but one had a duvet barely an inch wider than the mattress which tended to leave one partner or the other exposed to a draught. One of the bedroom curtain rails was slanting, one of the folding shower doors tended to jam, one bedroom window required cardboard to stop it rattling, and there was concern about the safety of accessing the shower in the bath. Since we are all survivors of the harsh 196263 winter spent in much less congenial accommodation we still had a splendid reunion but the house in general needs the casting of a critical eye over its paintwork and equipment and appropriate improvements made. If that happened Jubilee House would benefit enormously.
Property could have had better instructions for the central heating
Nice house, great room sizes and all ensuite, good location. Big garden but peculiarly the pub beer garden had access to it. Had nearly everything needed a lot of holiday houses do not. Looking a bit tired given the standards of today, 10 years ago would have been good. Builders skip on the parking area with stacked materials not helpful for turning cars around to go out we had 3 cars.

A very good property spacious, comfortable, well appointed and in a great location. The limited edition prints around the house were a quality feature. Highly recommended!
Absolutely love this property, 4th year we have stayed with a group of friends and just about to book for next year. Wondering if the cleaners have changed as not quite as pristine as it used to be and a lot of wear and tear but nothing that would put me off. Location is perfect, close to the beach and only a short drive from many lovely places. Fantastic village shop and pub. Definitely would recommend
I would highly recommend this property. It is a beautiful house and Jane, the owner, went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. On arrival, we were greeted with a lovely basket of local cake and biscuits and the home was lovely and warm. Jane was only a phone call away if we needed anything and yet she allowed us to enjoy our holiday in privacy too. The property is situated 5 minutes from the beach in the car or a 20 minute stroll away. The local farm shop is footsteps away and the local pub is literally next doorbuttwo. Thank you so much to the owners for a fabulous stay and for their warm welcome and hospitality.
The photos on the brochure are good, when you arrive the photos don't do it justice, the place is huge and like a maze, the living room is very welcoming and all of the bedrooms are clean and nicely kept, there was everything that we needed in the kitchen, the bedrooms, as in previous reports do take a while to warm up, but the fires in the living room and dining room help, the bathrooms were warm with the under floor heating. The location is quiet in a small Town, but there was two bars and fantastic walks to the coast. Jane the owner was very pleasant to talk to on the phone prior to our arrival, lets hope she is as helpful afterwards as I stupidly left a brand new pair of shorts and a tshirt in the bedroom, hopefully I can get them back.

Only slight problem was house was cold on 1st daynight. It took us till mid day day 2 to get it warm enough. After that it was fab.
Vivien
House was amazing plenty room as there was 12 of us and a dog thought there might of been toiletries hand soap shower gel shower cap in bathrooms . Lovely area handy for pub next door
Lovely house, perfect location, stayed with a group of friends for the weekend ... Lovely house, perfect location, stayed with a group of friends for the weekend very relaxing, the pictures on the website dont do the property justice would definitely stay again

Jubilee House is a beautiful home in a beautiful setting. An ideal location for exploration of the Northumberland coastline.
Jackie
Lovely, comfortable well maintained holiday home. Ideal for large parties . Friendly local pub next door and farm shop . Would highly recommend.
Caroline
Great house. Beautiful furnishings, good comfy beds, very well equipped kitchen. Great location just a short walk from amazing beach.
Jubilee House was absolutely perfect for our gettogether we loved the house with its large kitchen and pantry two fridges, copious amounts of crockery the huge shared downstairs rooms for our meals and sitting around loved the giant TV and unusual fire! and the garden seating on the private patio meant we could make the most of the glorious weather too. The house was beautifully decorated and wellequipped. Each comfortable bedroom had ensuite facilities and the extra shower room downstairs was very useful. We really appreciated the eggs, cake and milk provided by the owner and Embleton itself was a real find with its amazing farm shop, lovely pubs, friendly locals and proximity to the sea.
Our party of 6 adults and 4 children under the age of 5 plus dogs enjoyed our stay and would return another time. Great location, lots of space and facilities in the house, good pubs, shop, great walks to the beach and Dunstanburgh castle. Hoped to play golf, but circumstances didn't allow. The feature multi flame effect fireplace was admired. Plenty of hot water, washing facilities etc. Owner was helpful when contacted about additional dog in the party. Minor points, which didn't impact materially on our stay Arriving in 3 cars, once in the village, no one was able to locate the house first time final directions might be improved. One of the key safes was out of action. Dog proofing the garden would be helpful.
We had a fabulous stay at property due to location and found property quirky and very spacious. Lovely farm shop in village and friendly pubs. The cottage was well equipped but had a few maintenance issues shower in top floor bedroom too hot and unable to get a safe temperature for children. Back door needs renewing as rain pours in if weather blustery however we would definitely return in future.
3rd visit to this lovely property, always clean and warm. Well equipped kitchen with lots of storage for food. Ensuites to all bedrooms really good. The house is in a great location, good local shop and close to the beach. Lots to do in and around Northumberland. Would definitely recommend.
The property is a bit tired, disappointed that there was no hand soap in toilets. Outside area a bit untidy with skip in yard and rubbish laid around. The access lane requires trees and bushes trimming.
Allison
Jubilee House was great. The owner popped by to see if everything was okay, which was a lovely touch. We stayed with 7 adults and 2 children, plenty of room for us all to be all together and be on your own too. Fully stocked kitchen which was great as we cooked 3 meals, and brilliant we were able to all eat together. Beds super comfy. The young ones loved the big telly and fire on the wall. We encountered an unusual high Spring tide but still managed to get out and about and visit the local beach. Wee village was great with a well stocked farm shop and a lovely cosy pub 2 doors down. Alnwick was close enough for a wee visit. Would stay here again in an instance, highly recommend.
A fabulous house. Location perfect. Will be back.
Great house for families very spacious even for the 11 of us. We enjoyed our Christmas week at Jubilee House and appreciated the welcome pack including Christmas goodies. Well equipped kitchen and the living room lovely and cosy. Fabulous location for local walks and exploring Alnwick Barter Books a must. Great village shop and pubs. Pleased that owner was on hand when strong wind caused rain to come in by a couple of windows.
There was a slight issue with the radiators as some were fine, some warm only at the top and some warm only at the bottom. We did bleed them all but little change. Also we were unable to move the heating control knob in the attic shower. Otherwise a very nice property and good loction
Christine
A lovely large home. Very cosy with a warm ambiance. Our 2nd visit, and even nicer this time round.
We found the property very comfortable clean and with excellent facilities throughout .
Thomas
Fabulous mid week break 9 members of the family all had a great holiday kids loved the space and freedom lounge and dining room both a great space to get together bedrooms all really good outside area's great for the children parking a bonus great pub and shop in the village also golf club a good stop from the beach for lunch. Would certainly book again.
Debbie
Had a lovely weekend get together with all the family.
Brilliant location. The most beautiful beach in walking distance and lovely local farm shop. Lovely pubs too. The property was in the middle of everything and secluded at the same time. Plenty big enough for 4 families with everything we needed. It could have done with a good clean under and around beds. Maybe a new vac too as it was difficult to vac up x
Lovely house in a quiet village. The house was well equipped for our party of 10 and the kitchen was also fine to allow catering for the group. The village has a pub second pub was closed during our stay and a hotel with bar and restaurant. A mobile chip shop turned up on Thursday and there is an excellent village shop.
Second time visiting this property, wonderful spacious house for a large group. It has everything you need in the kitchen. Comfortable furnishings, large bathrooms which are all ensuite. Excellent location, short walk to the beech which is great if you have dogs. Would highly recommend.
Deborah
Great house with lots of space and well equipped for a group of 10adults. Had a nice meal at the Dunstanburgh hall hotel one evening booked a table as we were such a big group, also ate at the Greys in pub which was lovely really friendly staff and great atmosphere and only two doors down from the back door of Jubilee house
We had a fabulous stay. There was an issue with the cooker but the owner did everything she could to help. House is beautiful with an easy walk to the beach and good access to elsewhere in Northumberland.
Barbara
Beautiful property in an ideal location. Everything was as described in the property details. The owners paid us a visit on arrival and advised us to contact them if there were any problems. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and also the hospitality of The Greys Inn pub next door. Hopefully we can return sometime in the future.
Alyson
An absolutely lovely house, spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The house is in a lovely setting and 10 minute walk to a beautiful beach. It has everything you need to ensure a great stay. Its right next door to local pub which welcomed a large group of adults into their fold. House gas a large garden and would be fantastic in the summer. We were lucky and had gorgeous weather even though it was November
House was perfect for our group 3 generations aged from 2 to 71. It was very well equipped and spotlessly clean when we arrived. The rooms are spacious, and quirky is a good description for the house. Outdoor space is good, and was well used by our group. The owner called to check all was well a nice touch and responded quickly when the rotary airer broke. The location is great for exploring this beautiful area.
Gorgeous property in a beautiful location. Very spacious and sociable layout and quirky decoration, lovely garden and outdoor area.
Catherine
The house was spacious with plenty of room for all twelve of us. The grandchildren enjoyed the big garden and also proximity to the beach. We chose to cook most of our meals together and found kitchen equipment not quite enough. However the most important thing was to be all together in comfort and with plenty of space and this was achieved.
