Creel Cottage Reviews

Amazing location, great to stop and stare, or be active with huge views and beach walks. Loved falling asleep listening to crashing sea. Fabulous local pub walking distance, whats not to like.
Fantastic location and lovely warm cottage. Dont forget to bring the basics such as dishcloth, washing up liquid and soap as none provided but fortunately we had brought all but surprised none left. Very nice welcome pack
Third time we have stayed and things have worsened. Starter pack before contained dish washer tablets and washing up liquid. None this time and we hadnt brought any. No soap in bathroom dispenser is that not a requirement? Bathroom basin stopper does not work. All things that spoil things on arrival.
Sack your cleaning company! The Henry hoover was so full of hair & dirt that it wouldn't pick up, thought about emptying it & thought screw it, not my job. Swept daily and got big piles of dog & human hair from under the furniture. Balled up spider webs on the walls, dirt & hair on most of the skirting boards, and all the walls need painting! Didn't find out how to turn the underfloor heating & towel rail until midway through stay, no instructions, just fiddle with controls until something happens. The guest book says to turn on the Isolator switch to activate all that did was turn on the extractor fan. Hint the two switches on the bottom of the wall turn them on! The car park at the rear is suitable for a small car but nothing bigger., certainly not our Discovery which I scratched on the gate post. All in all we were disappointed that we paid a lot of money and ended up with such a shabby place in such a lovely location.
A nice comfortable stay in a very well positioned property with good parking either immediately to the rear small car only or a little further on for larger vehicle. Although the property had obviously been cleaned before arrival there were places where dog hairs could be seen on the floor, mainly in the lounge. Perhaps a dishwasher tablet per day of stay rather than just 3? Welcome pack was excellent. Overall though a good holiday home and enjoyable stay
Thank you for a beautiful week in your cottage. Its well equipped as we like to cook. Everywhere was clean. The beds super comfy & parking excellent. Well maintained and would defo recommend. Location was superb.

Had a fabulous holiday, the location is superb and the added benefit of having the garden both at the back and particularly the front of property looking over the sea was an added advantage. The property was comfortable and had everything that you would need for your stay, the cottage could do with a fresh lick of paint as a bit tired in places but considering half way through the holiday season did not spoil our stay. Would definitely go back again.
Really fantastic place to stay, we all loved it. The views were amazing and the house beautifully furnished. Like other reviews the sofas could be more comfortable but no other complaints here, and I think my husband is converted to an induction hob! The what 3 words to find the larger parking space was perfect and even found when we arrived at 11pm on the first night. Tip for others is to bring supplies with you for food etc as there is no real shop in the village but alnwick is only a shortish drive away. Also dunstanburgh castle is a great first day wander straight from the front door, we even saw dolphins!

Gorgeous cottage in a beautiful location. One of my favourite trips away so far. Thank you for the generous and delicious welcome pack.
Really enjoyed the stay in Creel Cottage comfortable with great views over the harbour and beyond. Lucky to have had some good weather and used the outside facilities. Not a criticism but as a suggestion perhaps the addition of a bench type seat at the front would facilitate greater use of the outside I.e. the tables not really suitable for a relaxing read in the sunshine

We had a lovely week in the super cottage by the sea. I was very taken with the decor it was my scene perfection! However in the booklet I was told to leave the property clean and tidy! If you want this from clients please provide suitable equipment! The mop and bucket was filthy ! The brush was too and the dustpan was unusable a chocolate teapot ! Broken and dirty. We arrived to find that previous visitors had left lots of beer and wine bottles beside the bins! An embarrassment for us so we took them away to the bottle bank! The cottage is beautiful but I think whoever owns it would be upset to see the state it is in! When I go on holiday I expect to be somewhere similar to my high standards! It was not a cheap holiday but I felt cheated!

Wonderful cottage in a fabulous location. Great for seeing all the local attractions Arnwick Castle, Holy Island, Bamburgh Castle, to name just a few within short driving distances. Highly recommended.
Malcolm
Great location in the harbour and the cottage is lovely. Unfortunately we had some issues whilst there, which the agent and owner tried to resolve but never managed too, although not through the effort of trying. I would definitely recommend this property
Location was wonderful. Rustic and lovely. Upkeep and maintenance poor Cleaning standards very poor Hairs in sunk dusty light shades dirty skirt boards. Floor not clean.
Property wasn't very clean, the stone floor downstairs in particular was very gritty on arrival and didn't seem as if it had been hoovered or washed. The same could be said of the bathroom floor. The open access to the sideback of the property is not safe if you had children with you. The back garden is untidy and overgrown with brambles. The most unfortunate thing was the arrival of a Clancy digger right outside the living room window on the Monday morning which dug up the road outside this property and a few neighbouring properties too. Had we known of this disruption, we would not have booked the property as one of us was recovering from a lengthy hospital stay. These works continued all week and were likely to continue for some time afterwards. I would have thought the owner of the property would have been forewarned of these works beforehand. If this was the case, I think it was unfair to rent it out under those circumstances.
The holiday cottage was ideal for us except the toilet was downstairs. And there was no internet for our mobiles.
We loved our stay at Creel Cottage amazing location and little gardens were fab and the weather was kind
Parking very tight and no advise given of wheres to park if vehicle doesnt ... Parking very tight and no advise given of wheres to park if vehicle doesnt fit on the drive May more difficult by the homeowner at the back parking directly opposite the drive Scraped my car on a gate post
A lovely cottage in a great position in the village. The kitchen was fine but was not particularly well equipped. For example, there was no bread knife and no large frying pan. Also, it would have been beneficial to have a light over the cooker.
Yvonne
Lovely clean and warm with beautiful views. Sofa a bit tired the bed was lovely and comfy. The views were brilliant enjoyed the garden at the front to sit in and have a drink enjoying the sea air as the weather was very kind to us. Situated ideally for walks or trip out.The walk from Craster to Low Newton was splendid. D9g friendly walks and beaches. Would definitely reccomend and hopefully be back soon. Thank you for letting us stay
Just spent a wonderful week at Creel Cottage! We were all rather sad to leave, the cottage is very cosy, very comfortable especially the beds and the sea views are fantastic. Loved sitting out on the front garden with a cup of tea watching the waves after a day exploring the coastline and the many marvellous castles Northumberland has to offer. Would love to come back, maybe later in the year so we could enjoy some better weather! Jolly Fisherman pub in Craster is great but our son found the menu a bit of challenge we thought it was amazing!
This is our second visit to Creel Cottage. We love the cottage and its location
Thank you for a fabulous week in Craster. Your property had everything we needed to be very comfortable.
The Welcome Pack was a nice touch and appreciated. Cleanliness though was not what it should be. Inside of windows obviously not cleaned in a long time, floors very dusty and kitchen cupboard doors dirty. Biggest issue though is the sofas. For 900 a week I expect something I can comfortably sit on for longer than 20 minutes. Ended up going to bed early most nights as my back, neck and shoulders were aching. Not good enough!
The most idyllic location, everything perfect in the cottage, very comfortable and cosy. It had everything we wanted and more. We will defiantly go back. Thanks Nellie
A lovely cottage in one of our favourite locations with great views of the harbour and the sea. The cottage was well equipped, very clean and lovely and warm. The bed was very comfy the only negative was the sofas in the lounge which werent very comfy.
Antony
We loved Creel Cottage, and the description was very accurate. Great location and views, and it was fantastic to be able to eat breakfast and lunch in the garden overlooking the harbour and greeting all the walkers passing on their way to Dunstanburgh Castle. The cottage is very well equipped, but we suggest maybe providing a tray or two so guests can carry plates etc into the gardens, particularly the front one.
Cheryl
Beautifully decorated cottage in superb location but not managed well. The welcome pack was paltry many cottages provide at least some fresh milk in the fridge. To restrict cleaning materials is unnecessary ie 3 dishwasher tablets. The cleaning was slipshod kitchen bin dirty . Only one partially used toilet roll was provided with no spares which is insufficient. The info provided was inadequate as there is no shop in the village it would have been useful to have mentioned that the smokery sells bread. Most cottages provide a small basket of logs as a starter but we were met with a totally empty log basket. It would have been useful to mention that the parking space at the rear of the property is only suitable for small to medium cars. Our stay was marred by a lack of info and a penny pinching approach.
I loved staying here we were right next to the water and had wonderful walks ... I loved staying here we were right next to the water and had wonderful walks from the cottage My one complaint was that on your listing it states there was a wood burning stove and that all fuel and power were included in the rent I took this to mean we would be provided with logs yet when we arrived there were two small logs at the bottom of a large basket with no kindling or fire lighters I rang your office immediately to be told we were self catering and you could not provide the logs as it was too expensive She then told me we had been provided with a starter pack Im sorry but two small logs and no kindling or firefighters does not in my opinion class as a starter pack There was no where in the village to buy logs so we had to wait until the next day to go to Embleton to buy what we needed I was so looking forward to sitting infront if the fire on my first night so was very disappointed I couldnt
Really enjoyed our stay, stunning location. Beds were really comfortable. Could do with more comfortable sofas in living room
The cottage was excellent other than if you are with other couples staying in the cottage there isnt much sound insulation! ! Also as reported the dishwasher door was damaged on our arrival and also the bins hadnt been emptied from the previous week. Location and presentation fantastic, thank you
