Cargoes Reviews

Jackie
We had an absolutely fantastic stay at the cottage. The views are incredible and the village is perfect. The kitchen was large and adequately stocked although bin bags would be helpful. Bathrooms and bedrooms were fantastic and we slept really well although sadly we had heating issues for the 2nd double bedroom and 3rd floor. Maintenance arrived with oil radiators to rectify. The only real issue we felt with the cottage was the lack of curtains over the front door which was exceptionally draughty. It is worth noting that the bay window seat also has no curtains or blinds and the living room curtains are quite light and see through. Overall we would return, maybe in September, especially if the curtain situation was resolved.
We had a fabulous week. The house is lovely much better than it looks on the site great bathrooms very nicely done and comfortable beds and well equipped kitchen. My only criticism is that there is lack of washing up liquid and cleaning cloths etc it would be much better to leave a few cleaning products and also salt pepper sugar etc We will be back!
This was our second visit to Cargoes and approximately our 20th rental with NCCC by our family ! Sadly since being taken over by Sykes ,we have noted a distinct lack of cleanliness and general care in your properties ! It is a special lovely property in an amazing situation so this makes my comment even more regrettable to make !
This is a beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. Our poor score is aimed at the letting agent Northumbria Cottage and heres why. So were paying 2k to stay here for a week. When we arrived all the bins at the back were overflowing. Yes of course the cottage information has a line buried in pages of other information about bin day. A lot of the stuff was from a hen party whod clearly rented it before us . There was a ballon left inside too. What a horrible site and how awful for neighbours. We contacted the letting agency by email . As it was Friday afternoon we got no answer. On the Monday we sorted the rubbish and recycled what we could locally glass. The remainder has to be driven to the nearest top an hours round trip. I didnt get a reply to my email till mid the following week. The tawdry delay was said to be because the email was in my name and not my husbands name who booked it. Id identified the property. They could have checked the name on the system and replied to him! It simply said it was a nuisance when people dont t put the bibs out. How rude? Northumbria Cottages will charge a fortune to the owners. It should be part of the clean upmanagement of the property to deal with ignored rubbish. We also requested a high chair which wasnt put out. We found it eventually but wed arrived after a six hour journey with a five month baby who needed feeding! The WiFi was also disconnected? That took longer to locate. Northumbria Cottages suggested th previous occupants must have done that as if! The latter points are minor. The rubbish situation and the lack of an appropriate response is what prompted the poor review. The bed linen was immaculate and the kitchen very well equipped. Northumbria Cottages are lazy and not customer focussed. You should refund part of the hefty price tag. To the owners we say find another letting agency.
Our only worry was the long step between the dining room and the sitting room ! Several near 'trips ' ! Maybe a line along the edge or some sort of indicator that there is a step there .Otherwise a fantastic position and lovely warm cottage. One of the best out of a lot of years of booking in various parts of the Northumbrian Coast through NCCC who are excellent !

We really enjoyed our stay at Cargoes. Beautiful location. The house was clean and tidy and plenty big enough for 8 people. Great place to stay if you like walking. Stunning beaches, castles and plenty of towns and villages to visit. Or just want a good pub on the doorstep. My family and I would love to stop here again.
Gordon
Great cottage in a great location 5. Walks from the doorstep and good parking, loads of room for multiple cars.

We have just had a lovely stay in your beautiful property, a real home from home. I loved the little touches with the decor. Bedrooms were spacious and comfortable and bathrooms were great. Fabulous kitchen with everything you could want and lovely dining area for cosy family meals and on top of all that we used the garden daily it was such a relaxing area to sit for breakfast or drinks in the evening. Thank you , would definitely return.

Cargoes was a lovely place to stay in Craster. The cottage and facilities were very homely and the view was amazing looking out onto the sea! There was seven adults and a one year old and nobody got under anyones feet . Plenty of room for cooking, dining and relaxing. All in all a cosy place to stay. Would return again. We only had a small issue when we arrived there and it was where to park? There was a diagram but we couldnt figure it out as it was too dark to see? I rang Sykes and a lovely man called Fred who was very helpful emailed me a new diagram which was much clearer and all was solved . Fred even rang me back after half an hour to make sure that we had sorted it. Thank you Fred . Good customer service
What a lovely and wellappointed cottage. We loved everything about it from the interior design, the quality of all the fixtures and fittings, and the warm feeling we got from the first step we took inside. There was even milk and teacoffee waiting for us. These touches DO make a difference! And then there&39s the location, right on the harbour with the private little garden where we ate our breakfast every morning. The calming sound of the waves breaking as you slip into be...perfect! Will come again.
Excellent location right on the harbour front in Craster. A quiet fishing village but with a great pub! in a perfect location for exploring this very beautiful part of Northumberland
Cargoes is a delight to stay in. Comfortable and well equipped spacious property in an excellent location on the coast. We would return!
