Byre Cottage Reviews

The cottage was wonderful on a lovely clean well kept complex of similar cottages and apartments. The swimming pool was a bonus and luxurious. Our hot tub was great. The cottage was well furnished with everything we needed. The area surrounding Embleton is lovely and easy access to all main tourist spots in the area, including Seahouses for boats to Lindisfarne and the smaller isles. Alnwick castle and gardens Bamburgh castle . Lovely walks to the beach. The only disappointment was the inability to talk to anyone at Sykes cottages. I tried for 2 weeks it was very frustrating. I wont be booking with them again. This is no reflection on the accommodation but abysmal customer care on behalf of Sykes. The owners of North Farm cottages was lovely.
We could not have asked for a better stay in this beautiful cottage. It is in the perfect location for exploring this part of the country and the view from the cottage is stunning. The cottage and other onsite facilities were spotlessly clean and the little welcome pack of bread, biscuits, milk and juice were a lovely addition after a long drive. The recommendations provided for restaurants and food were excellent, particularly Embers pizza! Having use of the swimming pool was a fantastic addition to our stay. Our 2 children aged 3 and 6 loved the play park, the walk to the beach which was very easy to follow and well maintained and were mesmerised by the tiny fairy doors they kept spotting. Our 3 year old was very sad when we had to leave. Thank you so much for enabling us to have such a fabulous week away hopefully we will be back!
Comfortable property, very well equipped and lovely coastal views. Easy access to cottage for disabled visitors. Walk to beach on mown path was beautiful but at 40mins took a little longer than we thought. Only 5 mins to Newton or Embleton beaches by car.

Fantastic property in a really nice location. It was spotless when we arrived and there were some nice items to get you going, bread, butter, milk etc such was a nice touch! Swimming pool was great and good to have private use of. Electric car chargers on site which were handy as I have an EV. Private path to the village and beach and the village has a lovely pub. We'll definitely be visiting again.
Excellent in all respects. So good we have rebooked for a similar trip next year.
Kirsty
Stunning location and views for this excellent cottage. Clean, warm, with everything you could want for a holiday and lots of thoughtful features like soap, washing up liquid, and even bath robes to wear on the way to the hot tub! The electric car charging stations are well sited and easy to use, and removed all hassle of trying to find a charger in a rural area. The idea of booking a slot in the swimming pool is brilliant and means a quiet swim. Clearly marked paths to the sea and plenty to see and do.
Maybe a sign on the beach track showing the way back to cottages just a small point
Absolutely fantastic property, very clean and well equipped. Enjoyed hot tub and the way the hot tubs were positioned they were quite private . Great base to travel and explore Northumberland. Just some kindling in wood basket would help start a fire as big logs dont burn straight away.
Sharon
A beautiful, modern and comfortable cottage in a lovely setting. Convenient for the coast and many must see places in Northumberland. The pool and hot tub were a bonus. I was also pleasantly surprised by the sea view from this cottage. Beautiful
Carolyn
What a fabulous cottage and location. We loved every moment of our holiday, from waking up to golden corn fields and sea views to evenings in the hot tub after castle and beach adventures. The swimming pool and on site facilities were brilliant, everything was pristine and so well managed. The cottage was so comfortable and well equipped. We are already planning our next trip!
Christopher
Overall the holiday was enjoyed by all. If you are looking to improve your standards, can l make the following comment. 1. the cottage was missing a salt and pepper cruet set. 2. The start and finish times placed us under too much pressure. they need to be returned to the pre covid, arrivals and departure times, especially when there is only one bathroom for four people.
Catherine
This property is modern well finished to high standard with everything you could ... This property is modern well finished to high standard with everything you could want loved the hot tub with view out to sea and love the location so near to many beautiful beaches and villages towns exceptional stay will return
We had a lovely break and the property is in a great location. Feedback It would have been helpful to have been advised before booking and before our stay that there was building works taking place next to the property on site next to the cottage. We sat in the hot tub to relax and unwind on holiday, to being next to a building site with loud noises of building works, of construction machinery drilling into concrete, walking under scaffolding to access the leisure centre. It started early morning and whilst we were there it wasnt relaxing or what I had expected from a countryside holiday break. It was also difficult to find the property when we arrived dark at night when the cottage was on a different entrance and part of the road, which would have been helpful to know prior to travelling. The cottage itself was lovely, with bread, butter, milk & biscuits provided was a nice touch. Everything was in lovely condition, the pool is fantastic and location and views to the sea also great.
Carole
Wonderful cottage in beautiful location with great facilities. We particularly enjoyed the swimming pool and hot tub, a real treat after a days walking. We felt the owners attention to detail enhanced our stay and we look forward to returning in the near future.
