Victoria House Reviews

A lovely comfortable home from home. In a great location with easy parking and a short walk into town with all its shops, restaurants and pubs. Comfortable beds, super bath and shower upstairs and downstairs loo. Everything provided.would recommend.

I realised that I had left some belongs behind and contacted the owner Neville late in the afternoon on our leaving day. Neville and the Sykes office folk and Carly the cleaner were very helpful in resolving the problem with good humour. I liked the accommodation which was comfortable and quiet and convenient for exploring the area. Apart from my absent mindedness, a very positive experience all round.
Sandra
Great base for exploring Northumbria. Property clean and kitchen amazingly well stocked. Only things that could be improved were hairdryer that only blew out cold air but otherwise there was everything you need.
Madeleine
Had a lovely 4 night break at the Victoria. We were so happy with the choice. Absolutely spot on for area, nice and quiet, parking not a problem and was easy to come back after a full day out, leave the car and a short walk to the many eaterys on offer in Alnwick. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything needed to catercook for yourself. You have thought of everything! Only thing, we did, was move a couple of items so had cupboard space to put our food stuff. Small courtyard but didnt sit out there. All bedrooms tastefully decorated. We used the master bedroom which had a nice comfy bed with beautiful white bedding. Found the shutters did not close fully, so maybe a slight adjustment needed or curtains up, again, just an observation, not by any means criticism, just we prefer a dark room. The property itself was intriguing to us and we spent lots of time wondering what it was like when first lived in. Many original features. Thank you so much. Hope to come back someday.
Olivia
We three walking 'gals' enjoyed our time at Victoria House, it was ideal for our visit to Alnwick gardens and beyond. The house was excellent with absolutely everything, the Welcome Pack was a nice touch. Good that we could park outside, and the street was very quiet. Easy proximity to places for dinner in the evening. Many thanks Olivia
Louise
Lovely cottage in an ideal location, would recommend to others.
Robert
The house was lovely except that the leaking boiler, reported by the previous guests, hadn't been repaired and left us with no hot water or heating on the first morning. This wouldn't have been a problem except for the impossibility of contacting Sykes to report the issue. Your customer service is a joke! Your out of hours numbers are a sham and it took over half an hour on hold to contact you in office hours. It is unlikely that we will ever use Sykes again or recommend anyone else to do do. A lovely property let down by a very poor agent.
The boiler at this property is faulty. It leaked and lost pressure, and I had to clean up a pool of water in the bathroom and place a bowl under to catch the leak. The emergency number provided was office hours only! Maintenance attended and increased the pressure but the leak remained, meaning I had to monitor the amount of water and empty the bowl for 3 days of our stay. Customer Service has been sorely lacking they will not offer any refund, there has been no apology, and they told me to take third party advice when I asked to escalate the matter!

Lovely big house. Well equipped kitchen and lovely comfy beds. We have visited Northumberland numerous times and stayed in Alnwick parking is always an issue but here we had no problems and would choose this property again. Thank you for a great few days
Rachel
Comfortable and tastefully furnished townhouse an easy walk from the centre of Alnwick. Very well equipped kitchen. Great selection of books, games, maps. Onstreet parking, but was never a problem finding a space.
Lovely house and facilities in a great location
Michael
We found the property very well equipped and in an ideal location for exploring the town and surrounding area. The only problem we had was a self locking bathroom door, but this was sorted out by the local management company extremely quickly and efficiently. We are definitely thinking of using the property again in the future.
