The Old School Room Reviews

Jeffery
The cottage matched the beautiful and scenic surroundings. We had a wonderful time with the added pleasure of meeting Clare and Scott.it is a serious contender for a return visit very soon Jeff and Debs .
The accommodation was excellent the building very quaint, and central in the village,a thorough guide book about the house amenities and where to visit. Will recommend the cottage when back at work
A great property and location. Shame that there was no ice compartment to make cold drinks. Otherwise fantastic.
We enjoyed the school room very much. Everything was there that we needed, plus a lot of local products and produce. Much appreciated and enjoyed. The Leg of Mutton public house is well worth a visit for good value food and beers .Situated two minutes walk away.

Lovely property as advertised

Lovely placearea to stay. Welcome gifts a lovely touch for us and the pooches thank you.Sofas not the most comfortable to sit on,but fine for a short time with a cuppa after a day's exploring. We found the singlebed mattresses not supportive, but this is personal preference. Village shop is superb, and locals very friendly. Owners nice and helpful, nothing too much trouble.
A comfortable cottage with everything we needed, and in a great location for exploring the area from the coast to the Cheviot hills.
Lovely cottage, very comfortable and just right for the two of us. Very near lots of great places to visit. Highly recommended.
Philip
We found the cottage clean, cosy and wellequipped with plenty of space for our two Springers. The welcome pack was appreciated, also the dogs approved of their treats. Being able to use the garden was welcome we loved it, especially being able to chill out watching the birds at the feeding station. Clare and Scott made us feel so welcome and helped explaining the local attractions as it was our first time visiting Northumberland, and it will not be the last time we will be returning. The location of the cottage is excellent for exploring the beautiful Northumberland countryside and parks with our dogs. The pub Leg of Mutton and village shop are so close, everyone we met have been so friendly. Every Friday evening a Fish & Chip van visits the village excellent value for money.
Windows not able to open in bedroom and lounge area need fixing. Bedding too heavy for summer, more suited to winter months. A freezer box would be an advantage. The sofas although look nice are very low, difficult for elderly persons to get up from. The garden area is lovely but we were requested not to have our dog out there unless loose due to owners pet recovering from operation, also final afternoon the back electric gates to the main road were open so couldnt use the garden again. Rang owner but couldnt be fixed until following day. Loved the area but unfortunately will not return to the cottage as not dog friendly as advertised
Generally, the cottage location was good with the use of the owners' rear garden and was easily accessible to all the main attractions. Local amenities, the Shoulder of Mutton for food, and the local shop were excellent. All in all, a good location and pleasant stay.
Claire and Scott very welcoming great hospitality thanks for a lovely week.
Comfortable and cozy cottage in the pretty village of Longhorsley. The owners Clare and Scott live next door and were easily contactable and helpful for any queries while we were there. It was nice and quiet and in a convenient place for exploring Northumberland. We enjoyed our stay and would return without any hesitation.
Jennifer
Lovely little property, great base for visiting Northumberland. There are some lovely touches, welcome gifts of biscuits, milk and fudge and the cupboard full of condiments. We did have issues with the hot water, needed to use the override on the boiler to get a hot shower but in all fairness we did not tell the owners as we werent there long. Sky was a fab extra, WiFi was fast and I would recommend the Old School Room to anyone thinking of a visit.
Alexander
Excellent. Claire and Scott were helpful and friendly throughout. The cottage is small and cosy neat with everything that you need. We will be back soon!
Friendly and he
The cottage was a great place to explore the surrounding beautiful coast and countryside. And we also had a wedding at the lovely Linden Hall which is just up the road. It is a lovely little village and a week there had us all feeling calm and relaxed. The only problem we had was with the Sky which Scott sorted out quickly and we had a good natter with him at the time also. Although it wasn't a problem to us, if two couples stopped there, it might be awkward going through the bedroom to get to the toilet ! All in all a lovely stay with friendly and helpful hosts and we would recommend it and would love to come again.
Pamela
Brilliant location for exploring the local and surrounding area. Property was well equipped and a lovely quiet spot with some nice walks on the doorstep.
A small problem with EV charger limited our excursions,
The property is in a delightful place within the village with lovely gardens and a short walk to the shop and pubrestaurant. The property is very comfortable and well equipped although a freezer compartment in the fridge would have been useful. Any issues were dealt with quickly and efficiently and we will definitely consider returning in the future.
Alexander
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay The Old Schoolroom, just as we did last year. Plenty of places to see and walk our greyhounds. We will be back just as soon as we can.
Really enjoyed my stay in comfortable cottage. Appreciated welcome pack and just about everything had been thought about in providing what visitors would need from an iron to poo bags. Lovely enclosed garden for my dog. Cottage ideally situated for visiting different areas of Northumberland.
Darran
A lovely, dog friendly place to stay if you want to visit the beautiful Northumberland coast and further. Well appointed cottage, quiet location but only a short drive to the A1, lots of places to walk the dogs, and a really nice shop and pub a few hundred yards away. Friendly owners, we will definitely be back!
Angela
Really comfortable accommodation and well appointed. Good secure garden for our dog, who loved playing with the owners dog. The welcome pack including dog treats was great. One of the best information packs weve seen for a long time!
Heather
Great cottage in a great location. Ideal for a short stay for a family of 3 and a dog . Lots of added extras such as milk , bread , dog biscuits and much more. Washer and tumbler drier available in case needed . Owner was very helpful . Local shop and pub were great .
An ideal position to explore this beautiful part of England. The cottage was cosy and comfortable and you are made to feel most welcome with some basic provisions along with some treats from the local area. I would definitely stay again.
Christine
Beautiful cottage really well equipped with super hosts.
Really pretty cottage, obviously well cared for, nothing too much trouble for the owner
Owner Clare extremely nice and welcoming. Shared garden but we didnt see anyone the whole time we were there which was nice. Lovely size too for our 2 dogs. Stay was perfect lovely location, quite area, clean cottage. Only downside was the closest takeaways or supermarkets were in Morpeth but we actually liked it, it added to the experience being away from everything. All in all, 1010 would definitely stay again. Anyone with dogs especially, this is your place! Kyle and Katie
Our third visit to this cottage! All great as usual apart from flaky wifi a couple of days, but this is something outside the owners control. Longhorsley is ideally situated for trips around the county, and Morpeth is only 10 minutes away if you want retail therapy. Local pub does good meals also. An ideal spot to explore the county from. Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful weeks stay at the School room cottage. We arrived to a lovely welcome pack of essentials plus treats for our dog. The home was spotless and had everything you could possibly need and more. The use of the garden was lovely... you got to watch the village life go by over a cuppa of a morning. Clare and Scott go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable and carefree making this place a must for anyone looking for a bit of Northumbrian beauty. We will definitely be returning.
Katherine
This is a lovely little cottage in a peaceful location, which is also great for travelling around Northumberland across to the coast and the national park. The Village Shop does lovely freshly made sandwiches and a great breakfast in a box. The welcome pack in the cottage was really generous with bread, milk, margarine, biscuits, fudge, apple juice, hand made dog biscuits and lots of bits and bobs such as shower gel, condiments etc. We visited Craster and did the walk to Dunstanburgh Castle, Cragside and walked up to the lakes, Wallington with its lovely walled garden and river walk, Druridge Bay which is a great beach for the dogs, we visited Amble and had a mooch around the harbour and shopping pods. All in all we had a nice relaxing break.
Gillian
The cottage was amazing all you could wish for and more. The garden was stunning my dog loved it,only thing missing was the games room ?? Claire was perfect host always on hand if needed, also gave us some great information on the surrounding areas to visit which we did. Longhorsley village is quaint friendly and spotless. Fab little pub which we visited often ,the walks in and around the village were fab. Thanks again Claire we will Deffo be back
Nice cottage friendly owner made sure we we ok
Off road parking limited when used by other local residents. Security to property could do with being improved, door locks ,window latches.
The cottage is well sited, easy to find in a quiet little village, corner shop and a pub just a few steps away and the locals were very friendly. A really comfortable and relaxing stay. Small tip, don't park under the telegraph wires !!
Very nice place, quit area. Nice owners. Nice house, Everything is there you need when on holliday.
Stephen

Lovely cottage everything we needed and more lovely welcome pack which included biscuits, fudge and dog treats all sourced locally to help support local businesses, lots of information about the area and all well documented. Great location, quiet village and lots of walks nearby as well as the beaches. Would defintely recommend this cottage and the owners Scott and Clare who live next door were on hand to answer any questions. Hope to visit again in the autumn.
