First class, as always.

We had a great stay in a very well presented and situated cottage. Beach walls with the dogs were all we could ask for. Thank you
Dulcie
Simply stunning location. Property comfortable and cosy. Had a fabulous week staying there.
Perfect place to escape to for a short while. The weather became a little extreme at the end of our stay and the wind found every little gap but it is an old fisherman cottage so what I expected. The ceiling over the bath is low any taller than 56 beware
Patricia
We love coming to Sandpiper Cottage its a yearly event which has become our favourite place to be on holiday. The cottage is cosy and warm and very close to the beach. The dogs love the beach and we are very mindful of the seabirds so keep them on a lead at high tide. It is important to listen to the local people who say the seabird survival is all up to us now. Everything is available at the cottage and iit is very clean Beds lovely and cosy. Fabulous holiday home thank you again Nikki and the housekeeping team
Christine
We were a family of four adults and two children and found the accommodation cosy and in a delightful setting.

What's not to love about the location of this cottage! A few steps from the beach & a few steps from the lovely, dog friendly Ship Inn pub! Lots of great walks with the pooch to Beadnell, Craster & of course, Low Newton beach. We all had such a relaxing week here. The kitchen is well supplied. Everything was spotless. Upstairs the ceilings are quite low I'm 5'9 and couldn't stand up in the bath! Also, a smart tv would be great for the dayshours that the weather is not so good. This aside, we had the best week relaxing and would definitely go back to Sandpiper. Thank you.
Sandpiper is a lovely cottage in a brilliant location. Our dog was safely on the beach before I'd shut the front door! Wellequipped kitchen, comfortable beds and cosy living room with a very efficient woodburning stove. Only use the stove in very cold weather, because the central heating is very good! The Ship Inn is about 50 yards from the cottage and serves good food and drinks. Looking forward to our next visit to the cottage in April, 2026. Thank you Nikki and the Housekeeping team.
Sandpiper cottage sits in the perfect position, yards from a lovely beach with walks to Dunstanburgh castle and beyond to Craster. Go the other way and its beadnell and seahouses, all excellent walks along beautiful coast line. The ship inn pub with an excellent micro brewery and great food is twenty yards from your front door. The cottage does not fail to deliver, a true home from home, clean comfortable and well equipped with great views onto the beach and the Emblestone. Our 3rd visit and already rebooked book for next year.
Pamela
The hairdryer was not working. The plug in the bath was difficult to operate and meant that the water took a long time to drain away. Also the attachment for the shower hose in the same bathroom is loose. The kickboards beneath the cupboards and fridge in the kitchen were loose, needing to be repositioned after sweeping the floor.
Gorgeous location, just idyllic. Beautiful cottage, everything lovely, would throughly recommend! We had a great time with our 2 dogs.
I have always loved Newton by the Sea, we booked this holiday well in advance as knew the location was worth the wait. This holiday cottage didnt disappoint plenty of room for us all it is well equipped for all of our needs and comfortable beds and sofas after long days of adventures. Already planning our next stay
Leonard
It is a shame that the sofa arm is broken and has not been fixed. It does not need a lot, but a bit of t.l.c. Would be good. It was nice to receive a bottle of wine, but given the distance to shops some renters would welcome some milk!
Patricia
We have stayed at Sandpiper so many times and we always go back. Amazing accommodation right next to the beach and also the pub what more can you want. We always go out of season to avoid the crowds
We had a super time. Sandpiper Cottage is superbly situated for a family holiday on a beautiful stretch of coastline. Its extremely cosy and well kitted out for good old seaside jolly. We cooked, ate out at the pub, played games by the fire and enjoyed a lovely half term.
Christine
The interior of the property is in need of a lick of paint throughout and the property could really use some improvements, including Furniture updates Replace the broken and tatty wicker chairs Update the kitchen tablecloth, which is outdated Fix or replace the broken couch the arm is falling off Replace the old and worn living room curtains and consider fitting bay window curtains. They would not only look nicer but also allow guests to still use the window seat when the curtains are closed in the evening The wicker paper basket has been there for yearsI'm sure I recognise it from when I stayed at Sandpiper around 20 years ago! Safety and convenience Consider fitting a handrail on the stair wall. This would help guests who are less steady on their feet navigate the uneven stairs top and bottom more safely Replace the lamp in the twin bedroom with a smaller one, as it doesnt fit properly on the chest of drawers, especially if putting personal items there during holiday Plumbing issues Both showers are inadequatethey only trickle and dont provide a proper shower experience The toilet in the twin room has an extremely loud flush which can wake people up at night Bed height Although the beds are comfortable, they are much too high for people under 5'6. As someone who is 5'2, I had to buy a step from Argos just to get into bed. It may sound funny, but its true! If it werent for the location, I seriously doubt this property would be nearly as popular in its current condition, or that it could command the prices it charges
A fabulous weeks holiday in an outstanding property. Superbly equipped kitchen, lounge with a sea view and a wood burner, comfy beds, and located right by the beach & pub with friendly neighbours. Our dog is insisting that we come back. We will.
Lovely comfortable cottage in a superb location, metres from the beach and the ship inn pub serving great food with addition of own micro brewery. Wanted for nothing in the cottage as everything provided. Although situated in a quiet area it can be busy with walkers who visit the pub and beach. Parking for two cars at a stretch. We had an estate car which took up most of the room allotted and neighbours have erected pop up bollards which made parking a bit tight. All in all though a great cottage and location
Pamela
Sandpiper has improved considerably since our first visit 9 years ago and our former feedback has been noted and acted upon. There was just one small maintenance issue which has not been resolved. The faulty handle on the drawer of the low table in the living room has been broken for some time. It is a roomy and comfortable cottage where we can get a good nights sleep in great beds.
Judith
We had a wonderful time . It was 12 years since my last visit and good to see it was unspoiled At Low Newton. We first visited when my children were young and they are now late 40s. A beautiful spot and lots to see and do nearby.
Justin
Sandpiper Cottage is a dream location. We absolutely loved it. To be able to walk straight onto the beach and pop next door for a beer was fabulous. The cottage was absolutely spotless and the bed was really comfortable. If we were to give any feedback it would be that we do think an upgraded TV would be a great idea. For those days or evenings you cant get out it would be great if there was a smart TV so we could watch Netflix etc. I guess the other thing would be to have the basics there such as salt and pepper and cooking oil. Apart from that, wed love to come back.
Within 30 mins of us arriving at the property my two year old daughter cut her foot quite badly on some broken glass on the kitchen floor, we actually had to then use some tweezers to get a tiny bit that was lodged under the skin. Overall this was horrific experience for her and resulted in her not been able to put any weight on her foot which made her not wanting to walk at all.which resulted in a difficult few days for us. Upon inspection there was a larger piece of glass under the table also, how this was missed during a clean upon our arrival Ill never know. Due to the weather and road conditions we arrived a lot later than expected approximately 8pm so it was quite dark hence why we didnt notice the glass, however the glass was clear so probably wouldnt of noticed it. The cottage overall was warm an inviting upon arrival. Excellent location. Could have been cleaner, quite a few dog hairs on bedding.
Adrienne
A magical place . It was lovely!
Patricia
Fabulous accommodation. We have been here every year in November and find the cottage very welcoming. Maybe more detail is needed for those holiday makers who dont understand about taking the main bin to the edge of the square so it is not too full from week on week. Thank you Patricia Wilkie
Melissa
Perfect cottage by the sea the location is amazing, and the cottage itself is very comfy and has everything you'd need. We and the dog loved our stay and we will be looking at rebooking for next year! One thing I would feedback is that the 'parking for 2 cars' outside the cottage was slightly optimistic during our stay the cottages either side had bollards put up and the resulting space was not big enough for our 2 cars but it was no issue to use the carpark up the road.
Pamela
This is a beautiful, comfortable cottage, however a few things had not been attended to, which disappointed us. The light at the top of the stairs and above the bathroom mirror were not working. The bolt on the bathroom door was broken. The handle on one of the drawers in the main bedroom was hanging off. The seal inside the oven door was hanging loose. The sweeping brush had no cover over the handle and was very sharp. The tv remote control did not work. Some of the above were resolved after a phone call to the office, but I feel this should not have been necessary. I realise this is a self catering cottage but a couple of toilet rolls would have been appreciated and is something the changeover staff could easily check.
Christine
The light over the table in the kitchen does not work neither does the stairs and landing which means using stairs in the dark. Black mould and limescale in shower cubicle Bath slow to drain No cutlery basket in dishwasher Batteries need to be changed in TV remote
A lovely cottage in a great location. Weve been staying here for several years and love it. Downstairs very comfortable, Upstairs v low ceilings in one bedroom and the main bathroom so tall people have to duck. Maintenance door mat and light bulb in kitchen needed replacing. Unusual as normally everything in good state of repair.
As always a great location and comfortable, clean well equipped accommodation. A great stay. The sitting room windows were too difficult to open and the green bin was brimming with rubbish on arrival. It would be good to remove the promise of a landline from your listing as it's misleading.
Amabel
Wonderful cottage and location. Couldnt be better. Fantastic for dogs.
Samantha
This is the mot perfect place to stay. The cottage is lovely and the location could not be better. Very highly recommended.
Jonathan
Our sixth visit to Sandpiper, it never disappoints. Clean, plenty of space and that all important out the door & 10 yards to the beach fantastic walks bird watching pub The Ship will always let you take your pint back to the cottage !
Great as ever. They kitchen sink tap is still very very difficult to turn off!
Robert
Well equipped and comfortable. Excellent location. A couple of problems were sorted out promptly and effectively. We were concerned that the dishwasher has a fault. It appears to work normally but it does not get hot and everything is washed in cold water. Uses might believe that they have effectively washed utensils but could be passing on pathogens. Other cottages we have stayed in have required us to wash utensils at the end of our stay on a hot cycle, especially after covid.
Elisabeth
The cottage is a much loved retreat for us. This was our 9th visit. Spotlessly clean, with comfy furniture and beds, a lovely new bath and washbasin, freshly painted windows inside and out, it is a great place to stay. Lying in bed at night listening to the waves pound the shoreline is magical. But our stay was slightly let down this time by some niggly faults that need attention. I sent several emails, the first the night we arrived and two further emails, about little issues with the cottage, only replied to the day before we left. Please refer to my various emails for these, as I listed them all there, though have heard nothing back in response to my emails. Several were issues already reported the last time we stayed in Sandpiper in November 2021, but still not rectified. There is a brand new coffee machine this year with four capsules provided, but only four?? If you mentioned the make of the machine in the information, coffee drinkers could then bring their own supply of capsules, in the same way you tell visitors that they have to bring their own supply of wood for the woodburner. I would question the disconnection of the landline telephone. The immediate area has very poor phone signal and in the past giving the number to elderly relatives reassured them of their ability to contact us if they could not reach us on our mobiles.
Need a couple more sharp knives but otherwise, this was spot on. It was comfortable and wonderful.
Apart from the obvious benefits of location and character would like to thank the owner for presenting a clean, well maintained property thats a delight to stay in. Also, it needs mention that there was a power cut during our stay and wed like to thank the member of staff at Northumbria Cottages for checking things were ok.
Best location love the cottage great for dogs like a film set
