Jackson Cottage Reviews

Eileen
We spent a wonderful week in Jackson Cottage. The location is perfect, right on the Main Street and a short stroll to golf course and beach which can be seen from the lovely window seat in sitting room. The cottage is perfect well furnished and comfortably warm and cosy. The kitchen has everything one would hope to find including tea, coffee and biscuits! Beds are comfortable with lovely linen , shower worked very well and towels are soft and plentiful. The owners, Dorothy and Brian are lovely very responsive and attentive to needs. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Jackson Cottage and would love to return.
Smashing cottage, perfectly located. We certainly be returning to Alnmouth and would rebook Jackson Cottage without hesitation.
Clean and comfortable cottage in an excellent location. Sea views from the living area a real bonus.
Everything was fine. The only negative was the fitted sheets on the double bed in the back bedroom did not stay fitted and came loose when I turned over causing the sheet to gather in the middle of the bed therefore causing a poor nights sleep. Better fitted sheets that go completely under the mattress would solve this.
Wonderful stay at Jacksons cottage, the cottage was warm and comfortable especially coming in from a breezy walk on the beach. Good size bedrooms and we liked the upside down layout making full use of the views. The cottage was perfect for the three of us, we really liked sitting upstairs in the evenings, the open plan layout with the very well eqipped kitchen made everything easy. The location too was really good a few minutes to the sea and a few minutes to the deli, pubs and restaurants. Bristro 23 being a highlight. We found parking easily very near the property. We would definately return
2 nd time in alnmouth , love the place Beautiful town lovely cottage
Another wonderful stay at Jackson Cottage in beautiful Alnmouth. The cottage is perfectly situated right in the village with fabulous views from the window seat of the beach. Parking can be a challenge but we always found somewhere not too far from the cottage, we wouldnt want more parking and less village. We visited Bistro 23 for another fabulous meal and had some delicious food from the deli. We had to contact the owners due to a self induced drama ! and Catherine couldnt have been more kind or helpful. Cant wait to return!
The property was excellent, very clean and functional, perfect position in the village and the window seat was special. Enjoyed our stay very much. We have been coming to Alnmouth every year for 41 years and have stayed in a variety of places within the village and this rates as the best value for money and location. However the only downside is the parking and the rubbish disposal both of which are an inconvenience. Having said that, for the location alone I would put up with it, so much so that I have already booked for next year. Thank you
Great accommodation. Well equipped and comfortable with lovely views of the sea and down Northumberland Street. Hot water tap in bath not working so couldn't use bath or shower. Could do with instruction manual for cooker
Malcolm
Parking is a problem
Elizabeth
Beautiful place. Didnt have any trouble parking. Very clean and comfortable with everything you could need in a fantastic location
2nd visit to this cottage and as good as it was last time. Parking can be an issue especially now the local council taken up some of the spaces for electric vehicles. However it wouldn't stop us coming again and staying in this cottage
We enjoyed staying at Jackson cottage very much it's well positioned near pubs, restaurants and shops and the property had all the things we needed. Information on parking in Alnmouth would have been helpful as it took a while to work out where and when we could park. Also, I appreciate space is an issue as far as bins are concerned but we didn't like not been able to recycle glass and plastic . Everything else was lovely.
A really clean, comfortable and well equipped cottage in the middle of the village and close to the sea. The beach is perfect for little ones. We would definitely stay there again.
This is an excellent cottage giving really good value for money accommodation. Cottage was very clean and comfortable. The only way to improve would be to concentrate on a few small details 1 Update the details in the black folder to be more relevant. 2 Provide some easily understood instructions for oven, microwave and television.
Very well located cottage that was equipped and furnished to a high standard. Lovely to have the sea view. Very helpful owner. Highly recommended and would certainly return.
Sandra
The cottage exceeded my expectations in every way. The photographs dont do it justice. It was so warm, peaceful and comfortable. It was equipped with everything you could possibly need. The location is perfect and I was able to buy everything I needed on the doorstep. The views from the cottage are stunning and it is the perfect base to explore Northumberland from. Id return again in a heartbeat
The property was extremely comfortable with an excellent view. The only problem was the disposing of our rubbish into the public litter bin across the street, which was rather embarrassing, but I do understand that there was nowhere to put a rubbish outside the cottage.
Great place, lovely property , excellently prepared for guests. Great Base to explore the area or just relax in Alnmouth.
Alison
Could have done with simpler instructions for the use of the appliances . We never got to use the microwave ! Lovely place to be holed up in in Alnmouth in the recent cold spell . In these circumstances a more effective way of keeping the cold that came from the front door and hall up the staircase would be welcome . Loved watching the sea in all its moods from the bay window . We've stayed in many different places in Alnmouth over the years but this is one of the best !
Robert
We had a lovely stay at Jackson Cottage, it was very comfortable and extremely clean! Plenty of living space and ensuite for both bedrooms. The kitchen was well equipped and we even figured out the fancy oven! Alnmouth is well situated for walks and has a regular bus service to Alnwick and other East Coast towns if you wanted to spend the day out and not drive.
Had a good stay. The cottage was well equipped but we would have appreciated more information about the fire, heating and other items, not just booklets provided with the items when purchased. We had to leave early as my wife was Ill and we had no instructions for departure. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.
We loved our stay in Jackson's Cottage. The place is cozy, beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. The kitchen has everything we needed, and the sitting area has lots of touches to make your stay pleasant, even on a rainy day we luckily did not have. Our favourite spot though was the window seat, with its views of the sea. We'll be back!
A beautiful, well equipped cottage. I loved sitting in the bay window with my coffee early morning and watch the sea. Alnmouth is a lovely village. Parking can be a problem in the main street as the majority of the cottages located on the street do not have parking, however we always got parked somewhere, so a minor downside and it wouldn't put me off booking the cottage again at all
Wonderful house. Only piece of feedback is the house book didn't have much info about the property itself. And if we had been a party of 4 or 5 a second set of keys would have been helpful. Minor points, location is fab, parrking fine and house and Alnmouth was a joy.
Lovely cottage we have visited a number of times before. Very clean. Great facilities. Really quiet. Shops and nice pubs very close by. Fantastic for walkingexploring. Close to rail line so easy to visit NewcastleScotland. Nearby market town of Alnwick with great real ale pubs and the wonderful Borders Books Emporium. Highly recommended..
Christine
Even better than it says in its advertisement. Top class in every way We were there the Easter weekend, so parking was the only problem. But maybe worth mentioning, there are parking restrictions anyway. Other than that small point, the whole experience was amazing.
Pamela
Everything was perfect. The only problem we had was working out how to use the grill. Even with the instruction manual we didnt manage. Maybe a dummies guide would be useful. A beautiful cottage with everything you need. Our third visit and we hope to come back.
Geoffrey
The cottage is beautiful clean & in a lovely location The view from the lounge was impressive. Our only disappointment was that although it was listed on the intinery there was no microwave. My Brother who visited last year said that they had one so why has it been removed ? Otherwise we had a really lovely stay in a very clean warm comfortable cottage & would definitely go again
Rachel
A lovely cottage, very comfortable and quiet, and everything you could need except maybe a quick idiot's guide to the cooker? The official booklet was there, but incomprehensible as so often life's too short, especially on a oneweek holiday, to pore over technical instructions when all you want to do is turn the oven on to a 'normal' temperature! And maybe some teabags to make a cup off tea on arrival. And perhaps a quick explanation about parking restrictions. A super place, and Alnmouth is absolutely lovely.
It was as expected an idyllic place for a break, long walks on the beaches, ... It was as expected an idyllic place for a break, long walks on the beaches, visiting castles and the local food escpecially in Alnmouth is great call out to Bistro 23 and WH on the main street, The cottage was great very spacuous, good kitchen and bedrooms and freat location
Was even nicer than we expected and everything was of very good quality. We had everything we needed. The view from the dining room is a real bonus especially at sunrise. Also spotlessly clean.
We appreciated all the refurbishment done during the pandemic. Please note that the bathroom fan tends to go on randomly e.g. During the night.
A very wellappointed and comfortable cottage in a perfect spot on a street parallel to the beach, and just along from a range of places to eat, a local grocer and post office, and other small shops and cafes. A very short walk and you are on the lovely , unspoilt beach of Alnmouth. I have stayed in Jackson Cottage before, and will definitely use it again and recommend it to family and friends.
Philippa
We would definitely stay at Jackson Cottage again. The cottage is very well equipped in both the living room and kitchen and the bed was very comfortable. This was by far the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. We loved the upside down accommodation and and will certainly miss eating breakfast whilst gazing out of the bay window down to the sea. Finding a parking place was challenging each evening but at least we could use the bus stop directly outside to unload and load at the beginning and end of our stay.
The cottage is lovely beautifully furnished, well equipped and very comfortable. We loved the fact that you get a sea view from the bay window and there is a wndow seat! As our stay was during covid restrictions, we were very confident with the arrangements in place for a safe stay. Parking can be difficult in Alnmouth and you need to be prepared to drive around looking for a parking space which are free, but there is a very convenient bus stop outside the cottage for drop offpick up purposes. If you are planning to eat out, especially in Alnmouth itself, I would strongly suggest booking at least a couple of weeks in advance, same for any places you might want to visit.
