High Tide House Reviews

High Tide House is in a perfect spot 2 minutes walk from the harbour Spotlessly clean modern and comfortable
A cosy and immaculately clean house. In such a fabulous location by the harbour and the walk up to Dunstanbrugh Castle. House really warm thanks to the easy to use heating system. All bedrooms were nicely decorated. Only issue we had was the plates were quite overused and marked and the saucepans and baking trays had seen better days. We will definitely return however as it was one of the best holiday houses we'd ever stayed in.

We had a lovely stay at High Tide House. The house itself was clean, comfortable and warm and is a really nice place to relax as the interiors are lovely. The location is great also 2 minutes walk to the waterfront. Would definitely recommend! Tried some of the local kipper fish cakes from the smokery topped with poached egg while we were thereincredible!
Hello, the property is lovely and the situation is ideal for walking into craster and exploring Northumberland. However, the property really needs to up its game with the cleaning and maintenance. The property was general grubby and needed a good clean. While this property does allow dogs there was an overwhelming smell of this on much of the bedding and sofas. The carpets were also was very dirty despite being a dark grey colour and there was loads of ingrained muck and dog hair in the carpets and mud splashes on the walls from previous guests. Being a house that allows pets and the only way of access to the garden via a bedroom Id suggest at the minimum replacing the carpets with laminate wooden flooring throughout just to enable the property to be cleaned properly and dirt not to just be covered over. The property could have amazing potential if these aspects were properly looked at and general property maintenance was undertaken.
Deborah
A lovely holiday home. Couldn't fault it at all. The sofas and beds were so comfortable and the kitchen was exceptionally well equipped. The location is wonderful too. Highly recommended
We had a wonderful break in High Tide House, Craster, with two of our grandchildren and our son in law. The weather was amazing, which helped, of course, but the house is beautifully decorated and equipped, and incredibly comfortable, with everything we could have needed. The parking places were invaluable, but we only used the car to go further afield. The area is stunning. We spent a lot of time exploring rock pools in Craster, walked to Dunstanburgh Castle and Embleton Bay beach, and visited The Alnwick Garden, where play facilities are amazing as well as the beautiful gardens and cascades. Barter Books in Alnwick is a hot favourite and a trip around the Farne Islands to see the wildlife was wonderful Thank you for a very memorable holiday.

Generally nice stay however the below are aspects that I wouldnt expect to come across. Mainly the cleaners issues, not the property. No bin bags within the property apart from the one that was in the bin on day one. Extractor hood was greasy dusty hasnt been cleaned from previous occupiers Black sofa hasnt been cleaned from previous occupiers Black out blinds recommended for summer months. Along with this, no fans in the property so remember to bring your own in summer. Exit to the garden via a bedroom isnt ideal when family staying with pets. Sofa cushions seemed to be down feathered meaning few of us had allergy problems
We had a lovely time at High Tide House. The house is well equipped with plenty of room for 7. The open plan living area upstairs works perfectly for a family holiday as it is such a sociable space. The communications were particularly excellent from the owners of the property who answered my queries quickly. We know the area well and it never disappoints. Made very good use of the Jolly Fisherman and Pipers Pitch steps away. The Running Fox at Longhoughton is also well worth a visit. We wouldnt hesitate in recommending High Tide House, we made some lovely memories which we will treasure.

We had a lovely stay at High Tide Craster. A lovely home in a great location. We managed to visit Lindisfarne, Linhope Spout, walked up the beach to Low Newton and down the beach to Horlick. The local town Alnwick has all you need and the Running Fox near by has great bread and bakes. We also got climbing lessons with Andy at Climb for Life which made my teenage sons week. Highly recommend him as an activity to try, he also does complete beginners too. Northumberland is such a beautiful county, simply stunning. You cannot tire of the walk to Dunstanburgh castle. The local Pipers Pitch in Craster for food is generous and so friendly. Do visit.
We had a lovely time at Tide House, the house is very clean, the beds are extremely comfortable as are the sofas, the kitchen has everything you need and more, the garden is very nice too. We enjoyed inland and coastal walks directly from the front door, which all seemed to end at the village pub o. Parking is directly outside. We took our two dogs and found the area of Northumberland Coast to be very dog friendly. There are no shops in the village, which we were made aware of before booking, but there are a few nice food shops within a mile or so and if you travel into Alnwick, you will find several large supermarkets to choose from including an M&S Food store with free parking, which we used. We hope to come back to Tide House soon.
Hannah
A lovely house. Walks from the door and lots to do in the area. We had a great week. We had one small issue during the week and the owners were responsive and helpful. We would love to go back.
Doreen
The property was as described, clean and comfortable, it was lovely to have the Christmas tree and a few other little Christmas decorations. We had a lovely time with our children and grandchildren who we see very little of. The area is one if our favourite places in the UK with walks from the door we and the dogs were very happy. Our only negative would be that whilst we appreciate turning heating down when the house is not occupied it would have been good if it could be turned up slightly when guests are due to arrive as we had had a long journey and the house was chilly when we arrived later in the day. Once warm however it was very comfortable.
Cheryl
We loved this house. Very comfortable, well maintained and warm. We cant wait to visit again.
The property was perfect for our needs, clean well equipped and The only thing which seemed to be missing was a teapot which we would have liked but made do with the cafetire.
Michael
Excellent property in a super location. Really enjoyed our stay, the standard of accommodation and equipment is very high and easy parking for Craster a real bonus. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend
Kenneth
We had a wonderful stay at High Tide House. The house was very wellequipped had all the equipment that we needed for our stay which isnt always the case with holiday h
A most perfect home from home holiday experience in a beautiful house. We had everything we needed to make our stay a brilliant one. Extremely clean, very comfort beds, and superbly equipped kitchen and comfortable seating arrangements in the living room. Lots of attention to detail to enhance our stay, not least the very generous welcome pack, which was much enjoyed by us all. A wonderful location in the beautiful village of Craster with lots of walks from the door. A stones throw from the harbour was another lovely addition to our holiday experience as was our visit the Cottage Inn at Dunstan, which served amazing, delicious food and a great selection of craft and locally sourced beers at very reasonable prices and great friendly service. We will certainly be recommending High Tide House to our family and friends and hope to return ourselves.
This is a great property in an excellent location that's convenient for easy car access north or south along the Northumberland coast, and inland to Alnwick, Rothbury or the Cheviots. But it's also perfect for instant access on foot to the magnificent Dunstanburgh Castle and other fine walks in the area, and in the evenings when most of the tourists depart Craster you have the village largely to yourselves. Everything in the property is in good condition, and apart from some tired pans always the same in every holiday rental what do people do to them! doesn't lack for much. It was well cleaned when we arrived, and there were clear instructions and extra info about facilities and places of interest in the area. Our 2 greyhounds not the most agile dogs took a little while to get used to the stairs which were a little steeper than at home, but had mastered it by the end of the week. The included baby gates came in very useful to keep them corralled! Overall it's one of the nicest places we've stayed in, and we'll definitely book it again for next year, and keep our fingers crossed that we get similar perfect weather for most of the week. If I could add only one thing to make it better, it would be an electric car charging point!
Weve had a lovely stay at High Tide House. Its in a fabulous location in Craster, just a 2 minute walk to the harbour and Jolly Fisherman pub who also do takeaway fish & chips too. Its around a 30 min walk to Dustanburgh Castle too. The house itself is lovely, with more than enough space for everyone and has most things youd need for a holiday. There were just a couple of small things though that we noticed when we got to the house. Some of the kitchen utensils were dirty, the baking trays especially they hadnt been washed from previous guests. Also, there were a couple of chips on some bowls and a glass was cracked in the cupboard too. The BBQ hadnt been cleaned either, with loads of ash at the bottom and tonnes of grease on the grill part there were also no utensils for it which was a real shame. We were hoping to have a BBQ whilst we were here but this put decided not to in the end. Also, it would be useful to have some hooks on the back of doors, especially in the bathrooms so we have somewhere to hang towelsclothes etc. theres nothing in the bedrooms either. Finally, although this doesnt affect your stay and its no ones fault, if you are a light sleeper and have early risers in your party, be prepared to be woken up from movement upstairs as its an upstairs house. The ensuite bedroom in particular is directly under the kitchen and you can hear everything. Not sure what its like in the other bedrooms but we were often woken up very early because of this. Just something to mention. But overall we had a fab time. We probably wouldnt come back only because and upside down house isnt for us first time weve stayed in one but 100 would stay again if it was the usual bedrooms upstairs and living downstairs.
Gordon
We were very impressed with High Tide House. Great location on the edge of Craster. The house was very well equipped especially the kitchen. The beds were very comfortable. Instructions and information provided by the owner were comprehensive and very helpful. We hope to return to High Tide House in the future.
This was our third stay at High Tide House and the high standard of comfort and cleanliness has been maintained. We would not hesitate to book again in the future.
Lovely place, this is our second visit to high tide. It has everything you need. Shame the lovely local cafe seems to have shut, but we survived xx
George
High Tide house is a wonderful place to have a short break away from it all The house itself is immaculate, well maintained, comfortable with every facility you could imagine. Perfect location near the coastal path and local pub within 5 minutes walk. This is a must, we had a great few days and will definitely be back, well done hosts Les and Hilary, The Morrison family from Dumbarton.
We had an excellent time, the house was warm, comfortable and very clean. Ideally located for local walks and close to the pretty harbour.
Myself and three other friends had a great time walking and seeing the sights of the Northumberland coast. The house was cosy, well organised and clean.
Alistair
We loved our time at High Tide House. .. what a fantastic location, both in terms of where it is in the country, and where it is in the village and great facilities! One very slight issue was one of the lights in the master bedroom wasn't working, but if that's all we have to moan about then you can guess we had a pretty good break! Thanks very much
It was lovely to return to High Tide House. The house is comfortable and warm..the location is quiet and in a lovely place.
Barbara
The house is well designed and very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped with good oven and large fridge freezer and plenty of crockery, glasses etc. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean. Sadly what let it down was the disappointment re cleanliness in the kitchensitting room on our arrival especially given the emphasis on this in the description and in the instructions to us both before and as a firm reminder before leaving. We had to vacuum the rug due to a lot of crumbs, the dark sofa and arm of another sofa were covered in dog hair and numerous articles in the kitchen cupboards needed washing before we could use them including baking trays, cutlery, egg cups, some crockery, plastic plates. I know that people, are not allowed to have their dogs on the furniture but if they do let them it's not for the next people to deal with. As someone else has suggested the pans and baking trays, are very tired. Such a shame as a lovely house. We spent over an hour cleaning thoroughly to make sure that the next people wouldn't have the same experience. Good to have parking and a garden. Craster a delight as always. We had excellent walks to Dunstanburgh, beach day at Bamburgh and a lovely walk and tea at Hawick Hall Gardens. We couldn't use the coast bus due to my husbands need to isolate but it is a fabulous service whuch means you can leave your car at the house. A good meal at the Jolly Fisherman, prebooking well worth it but the fish and chips from the van there were disappointing. Excellent shop at the smokery worth supporting including milk, bread, teabags etc as well as lovely fish.
A really comfortable well equiped home in an excellent location just minutes from the harbour It was ideal for our extended family of three generations aged 5 to 81. There was plenty of space to enjoy some peace and quiet when we needed it! The beds were the most comfortable we have had in a holiday home for a very long time. We were not blessed with great weather so there were few opportunities to sit in the small but really lovely garden area. If there had been my only suggestion would be to have an outdoor table and chairs. I would certainly recommend High Tide House to friends and would hope to return ourselves one day.
We had a good stay but given the price I was most disappointed that the sauce pans were old and the non stick scratched off, also we needed a bigger pan. It was annoying that you didn't leave us enough dish washer tablets and we had to go out and buy some. The remote control on the Tele didn't work very well.
Jessica
Very clean property, highly recommend
This is one of the best properties we have stayed in. It is very well equipped, maintained to a high standard including cleanliness & in a perfect location. It is a two minute walk down into Craster providing access to coastal walks in either direction with amazing views. It is also well positioned to explore the wider area with beautiful Alnmouth to the south & Seahouses, Holy Island etc to the north. The information folder for the property is detailed & kept up to date including easy to follow instructions for all appliances. A decent welcome pack was provided & it's great that the property is made available to pet owners. We would very much recommend High Tide & hope to be back ourselves at some point.
The holiday home was very comfortable and tastefully decorated equipped with all the kitchenware and amenities that you would require. It is set in a fantastic location very close to the sea.
Fantastic property. We will recommend to our friends. Great time had by ourselves and our little dog,
This was our second visit to High Tide House and it was lovely to go back. .The house was warm and welcoming, the perfect place to relax, and to return to after walking our dog Appreciated the note and fizz welcoming us back..a kind gesture..
