Granary Stone House Reviews

Granary cottage Fab location walk to beach and pubs, post officesmall general store. Great layout in living room, kitchen everyone could sit together, there were 12 of us. Beds comfortable. Warm comfortable property. We booked this property because it had a heated pool as it was Jan 2026 so was cold weather. Lovely owners, approachable, friendly. Great stay
The starter pack on arrival was appreciated and we really enjoyed spending time ... The starter pack on arrival was appreciated and we really enjoyed spending time at the cottage Thus was our second visit the first was four years ago and the general maintenance in all the walking routes again was really appreciated The only request is that the chimney over the log fire needs cleaning as on lighting on each occasion is gave off a smokey atmosphere
Beverly
A great place for a family celebration kitchen well equipped and spacious. Living room a fab for entertaining. Lots of coastal walks on the doorstep. This was second visit and already booked for a week this year
Claire
We had a fantastic week in this property. Everything is well maintained and the house is very comfortable. We were a large group of all adults and there was plenty of space for us all. The welcome pack was really generous including dishes we needed to cook our Christmas lunch which was really thoughtful. The location is fantastic, easy walks to the village or straight down to the beach. Easy drive to Alnwick and other local beaches. The younger of our group took the train into Newcastle 30 minutes from Alnmouth. The owners were very friendly and responsive when we couldn't work the oven. The pool is a fantastic extra and we really liked that you got one private slot per day. Location is very peaceful and the views are amazing. We all had a fantastic time and would love to go back.

This is in an excellent location, with easy access for exploring this beautiful area of Northumberland,we all had a fabulous time . The property very spacious and comfortable,I booked it for my daughters 40 birthday and family get tegether , The only criticism we had, no heating to the upstairs area and Main bedroom for 2 nights , which in November was quite a concern, I'm sure the owners will recifiy the problem in the future . Overall very happy with my choice .
Had a lovely stay at Granary Cottage. Great location and well equipped. The availability of the pool for private use was a real bonus and everyone really enjoyed the pool table in the lounge area. The main bedroom with it's view to the sea was beautiful. My only criticism was that the large windows in both the main bedroom and lounge were locked and when we asked for the key that was refused, apparently because of health and safety. That was someone odd as there were 6 responsible adults in the house and I accepted full responsibility for opening it!!
Very good no complaints facilities excellent swimming pool a bonus plus pool table and table games. Good surroundings easy to get to various sites also lovely village and hotel nearby would definitely recommend.
We all had a lovely week the children made the most of the play area and the pool. The walk to the beach was well worth it. Allan, the maintenance man, was so helpful when we had to call him. Thanks again.

Great property, great location. Perfect for our family get together. Even managed to give us good weather!
Catherine
The Granary Stone Cottage, sleeping 12 of us, was superb. It was very spacious, especially in the kitchen and living room. We all felt like home from home. Views from the windows were great too. Great location with short walks to beach, pubs and restaurants in Embleton and Low Newton. Just a note, although we arrived with one bed unmade, that was rectified immediately, thank you. Also the shower in the downstairs bathroom was very slow in draining. This bathroom could also do with another roll of toilet paper as it was used more often from the whole party over the weekend. To finish on a positive note, we had an amazing weekend and are looking to book this cottage again and making this an annual event for our Book Club. Thank you.
Granary Stone House was the ideal setting for our family get together. It has a wonderful view down to the coast. There was ample space for the 10 of us. The kitchen was very well equipped. The one small niggle was that one of the beds in the ground floor twin room was quite lumpy. I can highly recommend the property.
Review of Granary Stone House Just spent a January week celebrating my 70th at North Farm Cottages, Embleton,in Granary Stone House. The house is beautifully converted, very well equipped and appointed, warm and spacious with breathtaking views down to the sea, including glimpses of Dunstanburgh Castle. There is easy access to several welcoming pubs, and the excellent wee shop in Embleton. On a walk through open fields and whin bushes to the beach Low Newton or Craster you can spot Lindisfarne and Bamburgh Castle too. Staff are extremely helpful and responded quickly when needed. We really appreciated the thoughtful details milk, bread, biscuits, dog treats and bags provided on arrival, and swimming towels for the beautiful swimming pool, a huge asset! Everything added to our enjoyment of a wonderful week with friends and family. Thank you, North Farm Team!

Absolutely fabulous stay at the Granary Stone House, super location and fantastic accomodation.
Just returned from a family holiday at Granary Stone House. We have been taking large group family holidays for the last 10yrs and this is one of the best holiday homes we have found. Accommodation is well maintained and spacious housing 12 people comfortably. The downstairs facilities are accessible and ideal for an elderly less mobile member of our party. The owners have thought of everything from a welcome gift of basic supplies to toiletries in the bathrooms and beach towels for all. The pool and changing facilities are excellent and a big hit for the children. The location is perfect for exploring the coastal beaches of Northumberland, and handy for supplies in Alnwick. If you are staying in the area Embers pizzas are a must try and we had an excellent Sunday lunch at Adam & Eve in Alnwick.

We has a great time all 11 of us and 2 dogs. A couple of things not working one of shower heads sliph and bit if trouble with tv but we shared this and sure it'll be sorted. Really comfortable , lovely welcome items, Great location and we enjoyed the pool. Can also recommend the pub Greys Inn quiz night.
Wonderfully, comfortable property, with everything you could need, easily able to accommodate our extended family. Access to the swimming pool was the icing on the cake although you do have to be quick to book your slots. I would highly recommend.
The Granary Stone House is a wonderful place to stay and a great base to explore the beautiful Northumberland coast nearby. I would have no hesitation in recommending the house and the area Sean

Amazing, beautiful, warm and comfortable cottage! Plenty of space to not feel on top of each other, and so many home comforts provided. The master suite was incredible very large room with lovely views and spacious en suite. Key access was a very smooth process, kitchen very well equipped, pool table was a big hit and we had a brilliant stay. We loved the swimming pool too right next door!
Denise
We couldnt get the right hand side of the cooker to work but apart from that had a great weekend with friends and family Great location for walks . Lovely venue with an amazing view from the master bedroom
We had a fantastic long weekend to celebrate New Year 8 Adults 4 Children 1 baby and a dog! ! It didnt start off very well as there was a major power cut due to weather which we werent advised about until I rang to ask a question about parking! Begs the question if anyone was going to let us know. We were able to get into cottage from 4 but because there was no power we decided to delay our journeys. I would have thought there might have been a back up generator. However we were offered to go to local pub or go to cottage and light the fire and we would be able to use the gas hob. Nicola did update us from the northern grid on the progress. Luckily the power went on at 19.30 when we were literally talking about returning home and we had some very upset children. The staff checked on us to make sure everything was ok. We could not fault the facilities the bedrooms and bathrooms lovely and clean considering they were cleaned with no electricity! When the weather improved the views were stunning the kids enjoyed their slots in the pool and all in all was a fab weekend making memories.
Great property and location for our family celebration. Looked good in the pictures, better in real life. Most excellent. Cheers, Joe
Malcolm
A lovely large modern house with a homely feel. Ideally situated with magnificent views of the countryside and sea. Plenty of room for 10 of us. Pool table was a big hit as was the swimming pool. Slot system worked well and it was lovely, clean and warm. Grandkids loved it. Beautiful walk to the beach and overall a great holiday. Highly recommended.
Francis
Excellent house and facilities. Wonderful location. Can't fault it. And the sun shone each day.
Having paid over 3000 for Easter week I was not expecting to be beside a building site. We were not told further cottages were being built on the site, and while not adjacent to our accommodation it did have an impact on our holiday. The bathrooms were 5 but the living accommodation was tired and the kitchen lacked equipment. 7 saucepans and 2 lids! Also the fridgefreezer dispenser was not working. This was designated a dog friendly property but the back door to the grounds had 3 steps down and no outside light. Health and Safety would have something to say if someone slipped in the dark and the owneragents could be liable for damages. As we were meeting up with family North Farm is ideal for such occasions and I am sure that once all the building work is finished it will be great, just a pity that we were not told the Complex was still being completed.
Anthony
A secure garden would make this house absolutely perfect. Our holiday would have been perfect if it was not for a group of very inconsiderate women who thought partying in the hot tub at 3.30 am was perfectly acceptable.
We have just returned from a week at granary stone house with 8 adults and 2 children and we had a really great week. The house is amazing, very spacious well equipped and comfortable enough for us all. The heating was very efficient and we didnt need to use log burner. The pool table was a real bonus too. The kitchen had everything we needed and we prepared a few home cooked meals including Sunday dinner with ease. The washing machine and dryer were also a great bonus. The views were stunning and the walk up to the beach was really lovely and we saw hare and deer on a few occasions and was lovely seeing the lambs in the fields adjacent too. The 2 grandchildren loved the pond area with the ducks and the musical pipes but the play area wasnt really interesting them much and was a bit sparse. The swimming pool was great, very clean and efficient and well thought out. The house is situated close to some beautiful coastal gems and we would definitely recommend. The only downside for us is the garden area. I feel it would have really benefited from an enclosed garden for the safety of both young children and the dogs, especially where the outside dining area is and also at the front.
Excellent property in a brilliant location. Very clean and warm with a full range of kitchen equipment and a lovely dinning table great for family 'gatherings'. All bedrooms and bathrooms were as you would expect and living room was just perfect for our large family. The swimming pool was a delight, especially enjoyed as it was bookable and therefore private to us at our time of booking. Outside facilities, including playground and football field were well used by our younger ones and walks to the beach were a regular feature. Again, excellent property in a brilliant location.
Joanna
Beautiful property. Kitchen immaculate. Swimming pool incredible for the family. With new properties being built I dont know how the swimming pool slots will work in the future, which is my only slight I concern about rebooking.
Beautiful large house for a family group. Great views . Lovely pool . Took a bit longer to walk to the beach than I realised but saw deer and hare's on the way . Would love to return .
The property was lovely. However the check out time seemed very early considering guests were expected to strip all the beds.
We had a fantastic time at The Granary. Fab location and views WOW. Plenty of room for 8 adults and 2 children and a dog. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed, the living room was spacious and sofa extremely comfortable. The swimming pool was a real plus. Only slight issue was that the beds were a bit too soft for us and quality of quilts and pillows could have been better. Would definitely love to go again
Elizabeth
All in all we had an absolutely fantastic time! Just a couple of negatives we couldnt check in till 5pm and found the property cold on arrival so the heating put on a couple of hours beforehand would have been better! Also on the first night the heating upstairs didnt work at all but after a txt message and phone call to the maintenance man all was sorted and the rest of our stay was perfect! We would definitely return and recommend you!
Beverley
Brilliant house for 12. Fabulous location. Staff were great. Highly recommended.
Lesley
We had a lovely stay with our family, thank you. One item I would have found helpful would have been a whisk.
Barbara
Great location. Perfect for a large family group with young children. A baby swing might be a nice addition to the play park. Our 18mth old was too little for the big swing. A whisk would be a good addition to the kitchen equipment

Dorian
Very good location. Good response from staff when required. Lovely swimming pool. All you could want in a vacation home.
Superb location. Complex excellent with nice pool, grounds, play area, etc. House great size and rooms for our needs. But meanspirited pettiness which could easily be improved 5pm arrival and 9.30am departure!, Insufficient loo roll, washer tabs, washing up liquid, only one usable snooker cue, ban on inflatables in pool. Had to find supermarket to buy hygiene products on penultimate day of holiday.
Leonard
The property was finished to an exceptional standard and ideally situated with excellent views of Embleton bay. The safe walkways to the beach and Embleton were excellent for a family with young children. The property was let down by dirty plates left in the cupboard, wood floors in need of a good clean and inadequate sized bath towels.
