Spacious house, everything we needed. Great enclosed garden for the kids.
Lovely holiday home and very comfortable and cosy when the weather was very mixed! Spacious and the kitchen was fully kitted out with equipment. Loved the boiler roomdrying room well used during our stay. Everything was perfect. Excellent location and only a few miles walk to Alnmouth across the fields. Highly recommended and will return.

We had a lovely stay. Great property
I felt right at home in Dorothys Cottage almost immediately. It was so peaceful! It felt safe and was in a great position for access to the Northumbrian coast . The cottage was well equipped, beds comfortable, agreeable temperature, good bathroom facilities and I was reluctant to leave!

This is our third visit. The property is very comfortable and well equipped. No need to worry about small things as its well thought out and everything is provided. It is a peaceful setting but a car is essential. We love the tranquility of it but with a car everything is easily accessible. We had a day in Edinburgh. The station just a few minutes away. The journey just over an hour and very reasonable. Local beaches, country parks, gardens and places of interest are plentiful. We cant wait to go back.
Fabulous cottage! Fabulous owner who came to see we were ok. Altogether a fabulous week.
Bernadette
The hosts were so helpful. They took a real pride in their cottage. It was lovely. It was warm and welcoming. It had everything you could have wanted. Everything in it was of high quality. The area is outstanding with so much to see and do. We had the most wonderful time. I would recommend this cottage highly. Thank you Bilton Barns!

A lovely comfortable cottage with all we needed for the week, this was our third visit and it was as good as we remembered. Owners were very friendly and welcoming and quick to deal with the couple of minor issues we had. Ideal location for visiting the stunning Northumberland coastline.
Great cottage with friendly helpful owners and stunning views of the beautiful rolling countryside in which it is located just a short distance from the wonderful harbour village of Alnmouth. Numerous walks available in the countryside straight from the front door. Have already recommended to friends and would definitely go again.
This was a lovely cottage with plenty of room for 6 adults, we especially appreciated the 2 bathrooms. There are 3 cottages together in the area we stayed but everything was well soundproofed, we heard nothing from our neighbours or from the working farm around us. The area is ideal for exploring the coast with lovely walls in Alnmouth and boat trips from Seahouses. Alnwick is about 10 minutes away with local independent shops sitting in amongst cafes and pubs enough for everyone Star Wars fans, make your way to Penn Gallery for the Highlands Stormtroopers. Dorothy popped her head in on the morning we were leaving to wish us all a safe journey home, and it is little things like this that will ensure I recommend this property.

Fantastic cottage and location, ideal for exploring the surrounding area. The cottage was clean, comfortable, well equipped with beautiful sea views from the upstairs bedrooms, everything you could ask for. The owners were friendly and welcoming and even let us feed the lambs which was a lovely experience. Although the cottage is on a working farm we did not hear any noise, it was so peaceful. Would highly recommend staying at Bilton Barns Farm and we will certainly book again.
Audrey
Dorothy's cottage is so lovely and cosy. It's a great place to stay. Would recommend it to everyone. The cottage as everything you would need, Loads of pots pans and every other kitchen applience you would need.
Jennifer
Always tempting to give poor feedback when you find a gem so that you can still manage to book it for yourself. However, my stay at Dorothy Cottage was just what I needed after a very taxing 4 years. I needed peace and comfort to recover from the illness and subsequent death of my husband. That is exactly what I got at this cottage. The facilities were great, the cottage was comfortable and warm. Even though it is situated on a working farm, there was no real noise of machinery, etc. Dorothy, herself, was extremely welcoming and I was invited to the farmhouse for coffee if I found being in the cottage on my own a little lonely. So many great places to visit turn right for the coast, straight on for Barter Books and Alnwick, turn left for the coastal route to Warkworth and Amble and the best fish and chip shop. M&S Food Hall about 6 miles away very handily placed to stock up. On the whole, one of the best holidays I have had reading, eating, sleeping and walking on the beautiful beach at Alnmouth. A chance to revisit places I remembered from my childhood. Thank you, Dorothy and Brian and Catherine for letting people enjoy your beautiful cottages and surroundings and for being so welcoming and helpful. I will see you again soon!!!
Isabel
Such a lovely place to stay we returned again this year after enjoying our last stay so much! The cottage is well equipped, clean and comfortable and the owners are so friendly and helpful.
Heather
A very spacious comfortable cottage, which was well appointed. The heating was excellent with a plentiful supply of hot water. My family and I consisting of 5 adults and a very active 3 year old, enjoyed walking on the beach , and generally having a relaxing Christmas.
A cosy, comfortable, warm and well equipped cottage. A lovely peaceful location with beautiful sea and countryside views. There was a problem with the fridge but the owner provided a replacement at once. The sign to Bilton barns is missing which meant it was a bit more difficult to locate but owner is aware of this.
Dorothy's cottage was a wonderful cottage, clean, tidy, well equipped and very comfortable. I can't recommend it enough as it really did feel like home.
A really lovely cottage in a superb location. Very comfortable beds and living room furniture and beautiful outside area. Excellent situation for days out up and down the coast. Clean, plentiful hot water, efficient heating and generous supply of fuel for the stove. If there are any small niggles it would be that the hob is not good to use and the lighting in the living room could be better.
Lovely cottage nice peaceful location.
Jennifer
Great holiday house in a good location for exploring the area, spacious, well equipped, comfy beds. Owners welcoming and helpful if you needed anything. Will definitely recommend to friends and family.
Bronwyn
The cottage was homely, very comfortable and was a really enjoyable start to our holiday. All very thoroughly thought out to ensure that all the things you needed were in place. This was the first time we had been as a family on holiday, we all loved the cottage and having the wood burner added to cosy nights in. My daughter has already reccomended the cottage to her collegues at school. Mrs B Harrison
See my review for Bryans cottage as we hired both cottages for a weeks holiday and this was equally fantastic. Would not hesitate to recommend these cottages.
Danielle
Place was bigger than expected, every comfort thought of and fully utensil stocked kitchen loved the tea pot and cups and saucers! , provided even a Bluetooth stereo so we could relax to our favourite tunes in the eve or dance in the kitchen at dinnertime!
Robert
Large accommodation with plenty of comfortable lounge seating, while the kitchen had all that was needed with dishwasher and washing machine those and the fridgefreezer are all fittedconcealed. Bedrooms are large and beds comfortable. Internet and entertainment with TV and DVD player all working well. Overall layout of the cottage is very good.
Andrew
A lovely cottage which met all our expectations. The owners Dorothy & Brian Jackson were absolutely charming and helpful. We in fact stayed 2 weeks in Dorothy's Cottage as the owner arranged for the family who had booked for our second week to have Brian's Cottage instead, thus saving our having to exit with all our luggage by 10am and return at 4.30pm a very thoughtful solution. A super week.
Debbie
Everything provided that we needed for a great holiday. Cottage was spotlessly clean. Location was perfect for us about a 3 mile walk or cycle! into alnmouth along farm tracks and cycle paths which made for great evening strolls. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage to all age groups.
This is an excellent property in a quiet setting. The accommodation was clean and tidy and the kitchen well stocked. This is indeed a home from home. Highly recommended.
We had a really good time. A good and cosy place for us 3 friends to recharge our batteries and catch up on each others lives. Fulfilling a 25yr dream for me, visiting Bamburgh Castle. All other places within easy reach by car. Worth the drive and worth a revisit.
Cottages were spacious and well equipped, the setting is superb, with farm land all around and a distant view of the sea. Ideally situated for exploring the Northumberland coastline.
We had a very enjoyable week at the cottage. It was extremely comfortable and we felt at home from the very first evening. The owner's daughter Katherine was there to meet us and was very helpful explaining things and answering our questions. She was very welcoming. The cottage was spacious and wellequipped for our needs. The cottage is in an ideal location for walking on the Northumberland coastal path, visiting Holy Island, Alnwick and Bamburgh castles and National Trust properties. The holiday was made even better by the good weather we experienced. Although there was a cold wind on the coast it was fine all week and we had lots of sunny days. We would certainly return to the cottage for another holiday.
Shelley
Lovely cottage with everything we needed. Owner very friendly. Great location.
The cottage was comfortable, clean and well appointed and the owners were very friendly and helpful. It was very convenient for all the coastal attractions in the area and we would definitely recommend it as a good place to stay.
Hilary
A lovely cottage that provided everything that we needed. A family with two young children. Lovely surroundings and near to Alnmouth and Alnwick. The children loved playing in the garden. Plenty of space. Highly recommend.
Excellent location and the large garden helped the boys to let off steam. We enjoyed the huge bbq and evenings in the garden. The cottage was delightful
Hilary
A very enjoyable stay. The cottage was warm and comfortable. Tastefully decorated to match the property and fully equipped. We stayed for 4 nights over Christmas and with the log burner, and Christmas tree provided, felt very much at home. We needed to ask a couple of questions and Dorothy and Brain sorted these out very quickly, including coming straight up to show us how to work the electric Cooker! We would certainly book to stay at this cottage again regardless of the time of year though perhaps we'll opt for the summer next time so we can appreciate the wonderful setting and countryside.
Jeffrey
Would certainly recommend to others. The owner is very friendly and considerate.
Lovely well equipped cottage in fabulous location
