Overall this would be a great property very well equipped kitchen and good location, peaceful but close enough to town and beaches. Only downside for us was that only the upstairs ensuite shower was working. This proved difficult with four adults, including a less mobile one. A 10 refund was applied which was welcomed but would have been nice to have been prewarned about a known fault which may have influenced our decision to continue with the booking in the first place.
Victoria
A nice property in a lovely location between Alnwick and Rothbury well situated for visiting countryside and coast. Very spacious and well equipped. Comfortable bedssofas with nice bedding and towels provided. Good log burner made it cosy and warm on winters evening. Parking directly outside and enclosed back garden which was good for the dog. Would be nice place to sit out on a summers day. It was a shame that there was a lot of leaves outside the back doorpatio which hadn't been swept up for some time so had to paddle through them to get out. Overall a tastefully decorated and very well equipped and comfortable cottage. Had a good week.
Fabulous cottage, everything you need and great enclosed garden, weve stayed 7 times as we just love it
Our second stay at Birsley Cottage and it was just as wonderful as the first. Located in a very quiet area but close enough to Alnwick and the road network to explore the surrounding area. There are plenty of walks from the cottage to take our canine friend on plus the secure garden for him to roam safely in. The cottage has a well equipped kitchen and comfy beds too. Would love to book again for next year but it is not available anytime of the year has it been soldno longer a holiday let?
Michael
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay the cottage was perfect and very comfortable thank you. Would certianly return
Excellent, could not have picked a better cottage or location. Got to say the beds where bliss what comfort.
We had a fantastic stay a wellequipped, beautiful property in a lovely part of the world. Have already recommended it to friends and would love to return in the future. Thank you very much for letting us stay in your magnificent property. The instructions for leaving the bin out could do with being clarified, I meant to write a note in the visitors book, but we left early and I forgot. The bin was emptied for us we left it against the wall directly on the right as you turn into the courtyard.
Lorraine
Hi We had a wonderful stay in your cottage, however we think we left our Visa cards in the property. They are in a silver wallet, if you can let me know if you find them and we will pay postage if you can kindly post them to us. If you find them. Kind regards Lorraine simpson
The interior of the cottage was immaculate. The let down was the bird poo encrusted garden furniture which took a long time to clean before use. Loo roll in short supply, mugs and cutlery. We experienced problems with locking the main door from outside so used the utility entrance. We reported this at the office in Seahouses, they appeared totally disinterested, as we thought it could become an issue with future letting. Otherwise extremely well equipped. Central location for touring the area.

We have stayed at Birsley Cottage before and enjoyed it. It is a lovely cottage with everything needed for a week's stay and an ideal location. We did think that the plumbing was a little tired and that was exasperated by a broken drain coupling on the sink which caused a flood in the kitchen and a shower that was difficult to regulate and nearly impossible to stop dripping. A neighbour was able to contact the owner to get it fixed
Loved this cottage, and I would definitely come back.
Verygood loads of room, everything you need for a great holiday. Very clean and very quite, good directions and easy to find. Would definitely go again.
The cottage was cold when we arrived,in welcome folder, it said a starter kit for wood burner would be supplied but there was nothing. I rang the office and spoke to Will he said he would get back to us,he sent us an email on Saturday asking us to photograph the page and email it back to him,we did, we heard nothing else.We thought without the fire, the underfloor heating could be turned up a bit.Apart from this the cottage was lovely and we had a good holiday.
Andrew
Beautiful, really well equipped cottage in a quiet location but within easy reach of the coast and wonderful beaches. It's worth noting that the bedroom upstairs has no door so is open to the stairs and corridor to the kitchenliving area downstairs. It also has a shower cubicle with a sliding door in the ensuite so it can be tight to get into if you're larger. The beds are very comfortable and all the furniture is lovely quality. Everything is supplied and the kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly need including a Nespresso machine and a large freezer. The welcome pack has tea, coffee, milk and biscuits along with a sponge, a cloth, some dishwasher tablets, bin bags and a small washing up liquid. Garden perfect for a dog, fully enclosed with a hosepipe. Loads of DVDs and books, some games and local info. Would have been nice to have an initial supply of logs for the log burner. Heating easy to adjust and cottage was lovely and warm. Easy parking for two cars in the courtyard outside and easily got a supermarket grocery delivery. So peaceful and on a clear night the stars are incredible. Dog friendly pubs to recommend The Coach Inn, locally, The Masons Arms, Warkworth and The Northumberland Arms, Felton. Highly recommend Birsley Cottage and hope to return.
Excellent property with lots of brilliant extras, including the most comfortable bed we have slept in.
Birsley Cottage was amazing, so clean and comfortable and everything you could ask for. I would go as far as to say it has been the nicest accommodation we have stayed in Northberland and we have been holidaying there for over 10 years. We would highly recommend and we will definitely return
Adrian
Lovely cottage. Excellent layout and very good facilities Ideal location to explore Northumbrian coast
Joanne
Absolutely lovely cottage and we all throughly enjoyed the holiday. Our only complaint was about the neighbour who came to the door to complain about our dog barking. I can honestly say our dog barked only a handful of times. The neighbour also thought it was appropriate to speak to our 14 year old autistic son rather than ask to speak to myself or my husband. My husband confronted the neighbour who seemed more concerned that the dog was unsettling his customers in the other cottages than anything else. So dog owners beware! It would not stop us staying in the cottage again as it is stunning.
Andrew
A lovely property in a great location, very clean and tidy with a high level of facilitates.
Really great cottage, did not disappoint. Spacious very comfortable and well equipped. Cottage was tastefully decorated and furnished. Very quiet and peaceful to sit out in the garden area. I think the only thing it lacked was a BBQ. Would like to come back one day
Excellent as ever this was our third visit in 3 years.
We couldn't fault the cottage at all. A beautiful welcoming and comfortable cottage, everything and more you would need for your stay. Breathtaking scenery. Close to the town and plenty of walks nearby. Had some enjoyable days out. Would definitely return. Thank you
Debbie
We had a lovely stay. The cottage was everything we could have wanted and more. From the lovely recliners to the comfortable beds and great quality platescups cutlery, we had everything we needed. The garden in addition to being fully enclosed is private. We have already recommended this cottage to friends. We will definitely look to return.
The property has been developed to a high standard in a quiet part of the countryside, and is very well equipped. We appreciated the opportunity to sit in the secluded patio area and enjoy the lovely weather. This is an excellent base for exploring the beautiful beaches and inland area of Northumberland. We will return.
Carolyn
This is a very well equipped house with everything you need. Very comfortable and homely.
Lovely Cottage in a quiet rural setting close to Alnwick. Had everything we needed & we enjoyed our stay. Would definitely like come back some day. Thank you.
Lovely cottage. Homely, comfortable and perfectly located for exploring all of Northumberland country & coast. Had everything in the cottage you would need for a short break. Enclosed and fairly private garden was perfect for our dog and will be lovely for sitting in in the summer. Gorgeous views from the track in. We would highly recommend & definitely return.
Very comfortable and well appointed cottage with everything you could wish for. Well maintained and in a lovely setting. One very small request would be some explicit instructions on where the bridal paths are for walking, as, unlike Scotland,, I know there is no right to roam and you don't want to end up where you're not supposed to be.
What a wonderful cottage with spectacular views across the valley. We were so comfortable and happy there we didn't want to come home. Perfect for accessing the beautiful coastline and historic sites. Thank you.
We had a wonderful Christmas week and seeing the Christmas tree was a lovely touch. The cottage was perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything was provided. We would certainly recommend it and would love to return. Many thanks.
Dennis
We enjoyed a great week unfortunately the snow and rain made it a bit difficult to get in and out ,but Birsley cottage was a wonderful place to stay you need for nothing, it has everything . If you could award 6 stars you would Hope to be back very soon THANK YOU Dennis&Gilly
What a lovely cottage. Fantastic scenery and quiet location yet close enough to Alnwick. Brilliant location to visit all the sites Bamburgh, Holy Island and Cragside to mention a few. Very spacious cottage and well equipped. The back garden is very secure for your canine friend. One of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in. We will definitely return.
Excellent property very well appointed and with. Great range of facilities. Only problem was with heating in upstairs bedroom which seemed to be set and locked on 14 degrees during the night and 16 during the day, and the latter only when downstairs thermostat changed! Perhaps set it overnight at a more comfortable 16 and at least 18 during the day? Although we put bins out as requested on the right day, they were not emptied.
Birsley Cottage is an ideal holiday property. The location is peaceful and deep in the countryside, but with easy access to attractions and facilities in Alnwick. A very high standard of accommodation, spacious and comfortable for 4 people. We would be very happy to return.
The accommodation was really well furnished to a high standard throughout and it was a really nice cottage. To be as constructive as possible, on arrival we noticed cleaning products left out, no problem we put them away and the ash in the fire was left behind. The front door mat caused a slip as it was on tiled floor and the towel rail was not working in the downstairs bathroom. It felt a little restrictive with the tiniest bottle of washing up liquid enough for one wash? and two logs in the basket for the open fire walm weather luckily. All this was cosmetic but changed your view of what we felt overall. The cottage did have restricted views of the countyside but this wasnt offered so nothing we could complain about. However, when we selected Dog friendly as a filter we accept the dogs should not go on the beds, which ours dont, but they sleep in their baskets in the bedroom and we didnt expect the owners to restrict access to this area as per the local information sheets. This caused some issues with the dogs barking and hopefully we didnt disturb any other residents. We however were up a few times in the night to reassure the pets all was ok.
Lovely cottage if you are looking to get away from it all but still close enough to enjoy everything Northumberland has to offer. No more than 30 minutes drive to Holy Island, Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh Castle. Warkworth Alnmouth for the beach and Cragside NT only 1520 minutes away and all worth a visit with Alnwick only down the road for provisions. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you need and the welcome pack of biscuits tea coffee was just what we needed after a long journey. We will definitely be back
Absolutely loved Birsley cottage & had a fantastic holiday. The cottage is beautiful & we could want for nothing as it is so well equipped. It's a lovely peaceful location with lots of super evening walks thanks for the handily marked OS map. Hope to come back again soon!
Anthony
We arrived to no electricity and after thirty minutes we managed to access the metre box to reset the electricity however the plugs in bedrooms and bathroom towel rail did not work until electrician came again on Monday morning.
Caroline
We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. The property is well equipped and in a peaceful location but still close to Alnwick and the coast. The rear garden is well enclosed for the dog which is not always the case in holiday homes. The owners have created a wonderful retreat for their guests and we much appreciated it.
Robert
We love Birsley, having stayed about 4 times now. Great cottage, great location. Fabulous views south west from the driveway outside the cottage. Sadly a neighbour's fence, higher than it needs to be, is right outside the only window facing south west blocking this view to almost completely. This is the main drawback. Otherwise it's all good. Some kitchen scales would be nice.
