Appletree Reviews

We really enjoyed our stay at Apple Tree cottage. Its in a great location with short drives to the most beautiful beaches and other amenities. The cottage itself was great with plenty of space for the 4 of us and our Dog. The outside areas were also really good and great for the dog. Everything was clean and tidy and all in good order. Would definitely recommend and book again next time we are in Northumbria.
A lovely cottage in a great location allowing easy access to Almwick town and local beaches. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We would definitely recommend to friends and return for another holiday. Many thanks
Clean comfortable and well equipped. Particularly liked the garden. Owner very friendly and helpful
Helena
We had a lovely, comfortable stay, thank you very much! All that was missing was some kids cutleryplates and a dustpan and brush to help keep the kitchen floor clean when feeding a toddler!
Vanessa
Andrew was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. When my husband fell in, and suffered a stroke he couldnt do enough to help us. Lovely cottage, great location. Walking distance of Alnwick town. Andrew even lined up some tractors for our tractor mad grandson and his Dad!
Nicole
A lovely cottage in the perfect location. The owner was wonderfully welcoming and friendly and we knew if we needed anything we could ask him with no trouble at all. Everything we needed was there, beds and sofas comfy, cosy cottage and a very comfortable stay. The location is perfect. It was a pleasure to stay there and we would love to come back again.
The region has so much to offer and we enjoyed our stay. The cottage had wonderful views, even when it rained, and its central location made it an ideal base. Alnwick town, with all its ammenities was really close. The cottage itself is in a traditional style, but was comfortable and cosy. A comfortable bed was greatly appreciated. Not always given The spacious, private parking at the rear of the cottage was a real bonus and the Welcome Pack of wine, fresh eggs and biscuits a nice gesture. Thank you
Yvonne
Our first trip to Northumberland and therefore our first stay at. Appletree. We arrived late due to travel issues, but the house was warm, cosy and inviting. Andrew was around the next morning and was very welcoming. We felt very at home in the cottage and really enjoyed the wood burner in the evenings. Ted the mad springer was pleased to have a secure garden and he thoroughly enjoyed the walk across the field to the river. We would like to come back to the area again and we would definitely book Appletree again. Yvonne
Michelle
Great location . Our third visit . Its always nice to go back . Andrew and his wife are very welcoming. The cottage is clean , has everything you need and is well maintained with great WiFi teenagers .Well visit again
Deborah
Really comfortable and clean, with good provision for catering and cleaning needs. Friendly owner came to check on us the first night. Bedrooms spacious with comfortable beds not always a given! Bathroomshower adequate if a little dated, and I didn't see a bath mat to catch drips. Location absolutely superb for access to all the usual Northumbrian sights. Cottage is on a fast road but traffic only really noticeable in the mornings. Lovely countryside views from the cottage. A very easy 10 mins drive into the centre of Alnwick or almost as quick to Alnmouth. It's by far the nicest cottage I have stayed in in recent years.
Graeme
Perfect holiday home. Fantastic for family and dogs. Riverside walk opposite the cottage was fantastic. Easy walk into Alnwick.
We had a great week at Appletree Cottage! What a superb location easy to access all the local attractions... Cragside, Lindisfarne, Bamborough, Amble, Warkworth, Castor and Alnwick yet the farm setting makes your feel as if you're in the countryside, lovely and peaceful. The cottage is really comfortable and clean, and the owners are helpful and friendly. We have a dog who likes to run and the paddock was perfect! Thank you for a lovely week.

We had a great stay at Appletree. The cottage is lovely & had everything we needed. The owner made us feel very welcome & responded really quickly when we needed help with something. Although the cottage is just off the road, we found it to be quiet & were not disturbed by any noise at all. We were happy to walk along the pavement by the road into Alnwick & we loved the walk opposite the cottage to the river. Northumberland is beautiful & the cottage is in a great location for exploring the area.
We thought the house and its position were lovely. However, we have been regularly self catering for over 50 years and were a little taken aback by the lack of simple items like salt, pepper, sugar and milk. We were also surprised at the lack of a washing up bowl, granted there was a dishwasher but only one 1 tablet. Even more disappointing was the fact that there was a lot of dog hairs in both the kitchen and lounge. Nice ship spoilt by a haporth of tar.
Frances & Andrew
A warm and comfortable cottage with plenty of parking outside. Nicely decorated with a good sized living room big enough for 6 people to relax in for the evening. It would be possible to walk into Alnwick, but part of the walk would be along a busy road so we took the car. We enjoyed the walk across the field opposite the cottage and down to the river. The cottage is close to a main road, we were aware of a little traffic noise during the day but it was quiet at night. Our only difficulty was that the fridge door had no shelves so we had to buy milk in 1 pint containers as the larger ones leaked when laid down in the fridge.

We have stayed here for the last few years. always have a great week here. friendly owner too
We had an enjoyable holiday. The accommodation was very comfortable and very suitable for all our family. We would highly recommend the farm cottage.

Another lovely stay will be booking up again
Very nice cottage, well appointed and furnished. Very comfortable and cosy. Great location handy for beaches and town.
The property is well presented and has parking at the side. There is a safe area for children and plenty of outdoor seating. The property was very clean, towels and bedding was provided. The rooms were very comfortable and its like a home from home. There is a path if you fancy a walk into Alnwick, if not there is plenty of parking. Overall we had a lovely holiday and would definitely stay here again.
We had a lovely break at Appletree Cottage. Very comfortable and clean. All the basics are covered for an enjoyable visit It was in a good position to get into Alnwick and the local supermarkets for supplies. The owner was very friendly and gave us some ideas of where to visit. We would love to come back at some stage.
Louise
Great location, very clean and comfortable beds.
Charles
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage is ideally situated for exploring the coast, islands and castleshouses of Northumberland. The close proximity of supermarket and M&S foods was brilliant for self catering Owner very helpful and pleasant but not intrusive. There were one or two very minor things we mentioned to him, a dripping tap and a light bulb replacement for example. A1068 is just outside the house and is quite busy during the day, but not so at night.
Lovely place owners very friendly, we had a problem someone here in 1000 minutes problem solved . Great location in rural area but not too far from town centre .
Michelle
We stayed here last year too . Great location . Andrew was very friendly and welcoming as was his mother who delivered fresh eggs to us Love it here
We were really impressed by how immaculately clean the house was, especially at the moment with COVID. The owner was really friendly too and even dropped fresh eggs round for us to enjoy. The location was perfect, lovely views of the farmland but really easy to get into lovely Alnwick.
We had a lovely week's stay at Appletree cottage in this wonderful county. Everything was clean and comfortable and it is well equipped. We enjoyed sitting in the garden, looking at the stars at night, the lovely views from all the windows including the cows and calves in the field opposite, the nearby walks and the close proximity to the coast and Alnwick without being in the centre of a town. Lots of space to park and easy driving distance to the local beauty spots and attractions. The road outside was not a problem at all and we enjoyed hearing the sounds of the countryside around us. A great week thank you.
Michelle
The cottage was very nicely presented and had everything we needed . It had been thoroughly cleaned . Its in a perfect spot with the local pub a 15minute walk away , serving really tasty food , Seahouses , Bamburgh and Alnmouth all a short drive away Beach at Alnwick was picturesque and obviously not crowded Great place to spend a week
The property is next to a very busy noisy road day and night time also. No food storage cupboards as such . Kitchen narrow to accommodate size of table and chairs. Farmer works on noisy machinery some evenings opposite childrens room . Expensive for what is provided
Alicia
Lovely place and house well situated and delicious cake on arrival. Very well equipped and thoughtful presentation. Our only problem was that the shower didnt work at all well so that was a significant problem for us.
