Aln Cottage (Alnmouth) Reviews

Sophie
We have just stayed at Aln Cottage for a week and enjoyed it very much! We received a lovely welcome card along with some treats for us. All information needed was easy to find in the hand book and the highchair left out for our baby was a bonus! Location was fab and in the centre of Alnmouth. The Cottage had everything you need with a real home from home feel to it. We stay in Alnmouth many times a year and would return Thank you
Andrew
We have been saying in Aln Cottage for over 10 years as we love it. ..great position...very clean and comfy...log burner is a treat when cold...the new windows are great but the main new feature is the brilliant new bathroom. Highly recommend staying here.
Catriona
Lovely little cottage within a very short walk to excellent restaurants and the beach. The only slight downside is the lack of a dedicated parking space, although the only time this was an issue was over the bank holiday weekend.
An amazing cottage in a beautiful village. Very well equipped with everything you would need for a break. Fantastic shower, comfy bed etc etc. Would definitely book again! Any chance of a bench outside in future upgrades?
A lovely place to stay and we enjoyed the welcome treats and postcard welcoming us back!
Lovely clean and beautifully decorated cottage. Well equipped. Superb shower room.We found the beds a little too soft but maybe to the liking of others. The television needs to be repositioned as its too small and high to watch comfortably. Alnmouth is a beautiful village with many good places to eat and drink. We had difficulty parking on the nearby roads as many require a parking permit and our stay was in high the season. The only carpark is the beach car park and you cannot park there overnight. This did not stop our enjoyment of the area as once we parked we left the car and used the local buses which run to many nearby places
Rachel
Really nice little cottage that was comfortable and clean. I thought the TV was a bit small considering it was set quite high up over the fireplace but thats just a minor point. Couldnt use the hob as we couldnt work out how to use the controls and couldnt find an instruction booklet
The cottage is immaculately decorated, clean and comfortable. The owner left us some welcoming items in the kitchen which were much appreciated. Downstairs there is plenty of room in the kitchen which is well stocked with appliances, crockery and cutlery, along with a few condiments in the cupboards. Upstairs the bedrooms are large enough with plenty of storage, my only problem was the double bed was too soft for my liking, it will suit others though. The bathroom is well tiled and modern, as for the shower, I could stand under that all day it was brilliant! The location of the cottage makes it very quiet and it is just a five minute walk to the beach. The down side is parking. Alnmouth is a popular location and it is nigh on impossible to get a parking spot close to the cottage if you go out for the day in the car. I had to drive round several times each evening to find a parking spot which ended up to be on Riverside Road. Although it was only a five minute walk back to the cottage, if there were tired children in tow it could be an issue. Alnmouth has several places to eat on Northumberland Street, most of which do takeaways, I can thoroughly recommend Fish & Chips from the Hope & Anchor! All in all though we had a great week and we have no complaints whatsoever about Aln Cottage
A delightful cottage right at the heart of this lovely village. Clean, well equipped, comfortable and quiet. It's just a shame that Aln Cottage is no longer 'dog friendly'.
Esther
Cosy cottage good use of space. Would have liked more plug sockets.
Gillian
This is a pretty cottage but it is NOT dog friendly . If the owners do not want dogs upstairs then don't have an open plan layout. We have stated I dozens of cottages and we have never felt so tense and unwelcome. Would be perfect for a dog free couple . We felt so worried that we drove home after a few hours wasting our money
Catherine
Beds were awful not one decent night sleep, cheap mattress. Bathroom need up date plus an extract fan to prevent black mould. shower head had black deposits of mould, and could do with a detachable shower head for the Mrs to wash her hair separately. Otherwise neat little place.
Sheila
Cottage recommendations to improve the experience for others 1 more electrical socket plugs in the main bedroom. The existing extension lead couldn't reach the other beside lamp, or to the mirror area when using the hairdryer 2 small fixed extendable mirror in the bathroom as the wall mirror is set to far back to be of use 3 additional blankets for use both downstairs when the evenings were chilly andor use for in the bedrooms Information booklet headed up NorthumberlandCoast and Cottages made references to 1 use of discounts for local attractions. I contacted and subseqeuntly advised these are only available off season. I suggest and have emailed but no response to add a footnote to this information sheet within the property. 2 a garden and a parasol but we didn't see this and confused us as this was not listed in the booking details. Please ensure inforrmation aligns
Perfect cottage in a perfect village. Aln cottage is as cute as a button with everything you could need, though maybe bring a sharp kitchen knife. Beds are comfortable, the shower is good and hot water is plentiful for deep bubble baths. We really enjoyed hanging out in the light and characterful loungekitchen, though we spent most of the day out on beaches or coastal paths. It is a few minutes stroll to the immaculate, golden, sandy beach, which is very popular yet has plenty of room, even at high tide. I recommend a sunrisesunset paddle when the birds on the estuary and sand banks are calling. Most atmospheric. Parking is a pain, but the X18 bus is frequent from the village and the nearby train station is on the main line to London, Edinburgh and more. Brilliant cottage in a brilliant location.
A lovely cottage in a beautiful location.
