A Stone's Throw Reviews

Robert
Very pleasant accommodation, comfortable bed, sitting room and kitchen dinner. Location amazing. A Stones Throw Is a good description. The closeness to the sand dunes and beach, a few pubs and a hotel restaurant which all gave a warm welcome. Plenty of on road parking available. Overall a good place to stay while holidaying in the area.
Carlene
Fabulous little apartment a stones throw from the beach and a great base to explore Northumberland. Will definitely return. Thank you from Carlene, Graeme and Mabel the border terrier x
We had a very happy week staying in the lovely apartment, 'A Stone's Throw'. It was clean, comfy, warm and very well equipped. The apartment had plenty of space for our family of four and working cocker. Infact, this was one of the best dogfriendly places we have stayed in in Alnmouth. The entrance hall is great for leaving sandy kit from the beach and for rubbing down the dog. Alnmouth is a favourite place for our family and we would love to return to stay here again.
Excellent apartment, well set out, everything provided and in a great position. Parking was easy and had a great stay.
A stones throw is what it says on the tin! A few steps from the beach which makes it an ideal family stop for the kids and dogs. There is a small yard as you arrive at the property and the flat itself is more spacious than it appears in phots. It has everything you need, a lovely selection of DVDs and games to play for some down time after a busy day at the beach. It's a cosy flat woth a spacious double room with a very comfy bed, a main bathroom, officeextra bwdroom with a day bed, living room, kitchen diner and twin room with en suite. The entrance hall is handy if you want to leave sandy shoes in. Fab little spot and ideal for an all beach holiday or tike to explore the Northumberland coast.
We'd stay here again as it's in the perfect location right by the beach and the estuary. Overall the cleanliness was good, floors, bathroom, kitchen...however, they need to be a little bit more scrupulous as they're missing stuff. The cooker extractor hood was filthy, there was a huge spiderweb on the coffee machine and the window seat and the sofa smelled doggie. But it wasn't too bad cos we're allergic to dogs and we survived, after wiping the leather sofa down. This is easy stuff to solve. The flat is cool for a great holiday in Alnmouth. With two kids we just skipped to the beach every day and had a great time. Wifi works well, 2 TVS, plenty of DVDS for the kids. Parking was fine. We always found a space on the road outside the flat.
We had an issue with a leak in the ceiling and an initial call didnt bring an immediate response. But in fairness the rain was especially heavy and someone did then come to check so it certainly wont stop us returning in fact we have already booked again for next year. A Stones Throw is always a really lovely option in a beautiful village.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Perfect location literally a stone's throw to the beach and size for our group grandparents had the ensuite twin room, we had the master bedroom with a travel cot for our daughter and our son slept in the 'day room'. Flat and especially kitchen very well equipped. Nice personal touches too, with a welcome pack and cleaning essentials bag. Unfortunately, the overall cleanliness wasn't up to a very good standard. Plenty of dog hairdust under sofas and beds. Inside window frames silicone very dirty and the windows themselves could do with a proper clean. Basic cleaning seems to be have been done quickly, but would certainly benefit from a deeper clean once every so often, especially after dogs have been staying.
We enjoyed every minute of our 5 night stay. Flat was so cosy and comfortable we felt right at home from arrival. Flat was immaculate with everything you could need supplied. We would have no hesitation in recommending a stay in this lovely flat in beautiful Alnmouth.

Lovely apartment, smashing views of the estuary. The towels and beds were really nice, would definitely come again. Angela

Unfortunately we found the property to be in desperate need of a deep clean. The area leading up to the property is tired and grubby. Bin and fridge filthy, cobwebs, washing machine mouldy etc. Looking at recent reviews this is an ongoing issue. They offered us 100 towards a dinner on the last day as compensation. Feels inadequate
Lovely clean property, well equipt, slight markings on douvet cover and pillow case. Loved the book and dvd selection available. Unable to locate blue linen bag upon leaving for used bedding and towels, did have a slight issue with key and key safe used old key safe first. Well equipt for dogs, loved the personaal touches. Slighlty supprised there was no leaflets in folder for attractions in the area. Overall would highly recomend.
Great stay. Our 5th time at Stones Throw and have already booked for next year!
Terrible experience didnt stay a single night, now trying to get refund from owner.
Very high standard of accommodation, particularly considering dogfriendly too! Lovely views from the lounge and small bedroom.
Caroline
There was a lot of building work going on to the house where the flat was. The house was covered in scaffolding and with the skips being outside, this took up three potential parking spaces. The builders started early and were noisy throughout the day. We were not warned of this disruption either at the time of booking or before we arrived at the property which we feel was wrong.
We spent a lovely Easter weekend at A Stones Throw the facilities were exactly as described. Such a great location, especially our four legged friend, just cross the road and down the steps to the beach.
Corinne
Well equipped and lovely accommodation.
The owners were very accommodating allowing early entry to the property due to the rail strikes. The facilities team and Jill in particular were extremely kind and most helpful especially when we managed to lock ourselves out of the property on Xmas Eve! The property was very warm and the kitchen was especially well stocked for equipment and glasses etc. The property had ample space for a family of five and dog and very conveniently located for access to the beach.
We have just had a 4 day break in the lovely A Stones Throw apartment which was lovely. It had 3 spacious bedrooms, a fabulous master bedroom. There was a very well equipped kitchen a lovely large dining room which was big enough to accommodate a family comfortably. Very well decorated, clean and the owners have provided lots of dvds, books and games as well as access to Netflix for those coldrainy days and bowls and towels for our four legged friends which was a nice touch. Only one slight criticism, there was some mould around the bath and in the onsuite shower room which reduced my score, apart from that we had a really lovely relaxed break in a lovely village thank you
Alison
A very clean and pleasant apartment which is in a very good location. We had a slight problem finding it and some locals guided us there, as its further up the hill and around the corner than we thought. The apartment is well stocked with utencils dishwasher tablets and washing poda we're provided. Thankyou for the milk and scones! There was a bit of a problem with getting hot water in the bath, so had to carry it from the kitchen for my young granddaughter. Also one of the single mattresses needs replacing. The twin room is a bit small for two adults, but we managed and enjoyed our stay.
Patricia
Better than expected. All well thought out and comfortable apart from one of the single bed mattresses which was sagging. Alnmouth is lovely and A Stones Throw. is in a beautifull position we enjoyed it so much.Booked to return next year before we left!
It is a lovely, well equipped apartment in a quiet street with plenty of space for 5 people. We loved it. It was let down unfortunately by the daily noise from the building work going on in the house directly at the back of the property plus the lack of privacy this caused the main bedroom window faces onto the property. We couldn't have the windows open very often and, given the heatwave we've just had, this wasn't ideal. The building work also meant the windows were really dirty too.
This is our third stay at Stone's Throw and we have already booked again for next summer. It is spacious, well appointed and super handy for the beach and main street with all the restaurants and bars.
Kathryn
Charming decor and full of really useful utensils in the kitchen. Thank you for the welcome scones, they were delicious.
Lovely apartment, very well equipped and well furnished. The beds are extremely comfortable! It's in an ideal spot for exploring the Northumbria coast, both on foot and by car, as well as for venturing inland. Alnwick is only 3 miles away and has a good selection of shops, plus a good retail park with supermarkets if needed. Alnmouth itself is beautiful with a great selection of pubs, restaurants and tea rooms.
Thought A Stone's Throw in Alnmouth was a comfortable base from which to explore the Northumberland coast.
William
The apartment is in an ideal location being so close to the beach. The only problem is the parking as it does not have its own parking space which means that you have to rely on the free roadside parking spaces and these parking spaces are quickly taken so that using the car during the day can lead to you driving around playing hunt the parking space when you return.
Great location. Parking is a problem
Overall lovely flat in a great position, just wish we had the weather for the following week when we were there! Sock found under the double bed when we arrived. Duvet for single room needs replacing filling all hunched up with big gaps.
Christina
The apartment was in a great location, We were very fortunate with the weather. We were able to go to the beach which you can see from one of the bedroom windows.
