19 Duke Street Reviews

Rachel
This is a lovely terraced house, very quiet location, minutes from the town centre not to mention Barter Books. Very comfortable, everything you need for selfcatering and relaxing.
Richard
19 Duke Street proved to be excellent choice to use as a base for exploring Northumberland. The house was comfortable and finished to a very high standard. Five of us were staying and there was plenty of room for us all. We had no problems parking in the street outside there were always a few spaces available. Alnwick was a short 10 minute walk away and contained a great choice of supermarkets, pubs and restaurants. We would have no hesitation in recommending 19 Duke Street.
Shirley Ann
The property was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. The welcome pack was very generous and much appreciated. It was a good base from which to explore some lovely places. We would have no hesitation in recommending 19 Duke Street to our family and friends.
Superb accommodation clean, welcoming and great location. Lots of thoughtful touches including local guides and literature as well as board games. We would definitely recommend and would stay again if in the area.
Christine
Great base for visiting Alnwick and surrounding area. Walking distance to book shop, town centre, garden and castle. Welcome pack was great especially the bottle of wine! I would definately recommend it to others. Only very small gripe is that the sofa in the sky room isnt comfy and another TV somewhere would possibly be an improvement. Wouldnt atop me coming back.
Great location, close to town, shops, and nature. The decor is beautiful, and we absolutely loved it, especially the Sky Lounge. The welcome package was a thoughtful touch and much appreciated. We would definitely love to return.
Brilliant house, very comfortable and immaculately clean. We loved the Sky Lounge with its views across Alnwick and being able to star gaze at night. We could walk into Alnwick and walk to Barter Books, so Duke Street is perfectly placed for restaurants, shops and the leisure centre for swimming. Buses run at the end of the road, so we could visit Morpeth, Alnmouth and Amble without the need to drive. Duke Street is a quiet road and also within walking distance of a large park and Alnwick Castle and Gardens. We had a wonderful week in a beautiful house.
Richard
We had an excellent week in 19 Duke Street. The house is spacious, well equipped, quiet and comfortable and in a good location for Alnwick town centre and has easy access to from the A1 and other main roads. A very good holiday house!
Clean and quiet, yet not far from shops and bus stop ideal for our stay in lovely Alnwick!
Gwynneth
We had a lovely homely stay at the cottage. All the facilities were available. We enjoyed staying in a comfortable environment with family. We appreciated the welcome hamper. Only a couple of areas for improvement the whirlpool bath didn't work but I don't think that was specifically advertised in the description, but it was a disappointment. Parking a large car at the front of the house was quite nerve wracking but we parked at the back of the house sometimes, where there was more room, so there was no real issue. The cottages location enabled easy walking access to the nearby town of Alnwick and its facilities. It was a good base to drive to other attractions in the Northumberland area. I'd definitely recommend the cottage to other visitors.
Jochen
A very nice holiday house in easy walking distance from Alnwick town centre, and from the Castle and Gardens. The house is spacious and and very nice. We particularly enjoyed the Sky lounge.
We had a lovely time in your very comfortable house. We particularly enjoyed the welcome pack, the beautiful sky lounge and the whirlpool bath. Excellent location for exploring Northumberland.
Excellent base to explore the locality. Large shower pleasant to use but nowhere to put soap, shampoo etc. I can recommend a telescopic device Dunelm Mills that holds itself by springs to the floor and ceiling. No fixing needed. Also the vertical rod that holds the shower head is loose at the bottom and needs maintenance. It wouldve been convenient to have a second set of door keys. The sky lounge is a wow feature. Maybe the twin beds would be better in the larger front bedroom. More circulation space. These are minor observations. Overall a comfortable place to be. Seth
Michael
Great place to stay no problems! !!
Great house for our short stay. Well equipped and close to the centre of Alnwick. The photos show exactly what the house looks like.
Gareth
Excellent house in a quiet street close to the town centre. There are two small stores and a large supermarket in walking distance and the owners recommended several great pubs and restaurants close to the house. Street parking was plentiful. The house itself is well furnished with comfy beds, and a good kitchen. The sky lounge allowed beautiful sunsets and would be great for star gazing.
Sometimes its what is not said, rather than what is. For example the Sykes Info said bring Tea towels and oven gloves, but there was nothing to say they were provided. It would also Have been useful to have an oven tray shallow for reheating things. Generally though it was well equipped and comfortable.
This was the perfect house to spend four very rainy days in Alnwick. If we had to be kept indoors with torrential rain, we couldnt have been more cosy and comfortable. The house is done to the highest standards, with lots of thought given to all our needs, It is spotlessly clean, with a well stocked kitchen, with absolutely everything you could need, a very comfortable lounge with a great smart TV, theres a fabulous bathroom, with nice towels and comfortable bedrooms, lots of storage and nice bedlinen,, For us, the icing on the cake was the Sky Lounge, a lovely bright room at the top of the house, with four huge windows letting in light and making it a warm a comfortable place to spend time reading and listening to the thoughtfully provided radio and when the rain cleared for out last morning, we saw wonderful views. We did manage to see Alnwick Castle, which was awesome and had an afternoon drive to the beautiful coastline near Alnmouth and the lovely village of Walkworth, where we walked by the river. So much to see and so and convenient for everywhere, We will be back to see more of all this lovely area has to offer. We might even get to sit in the pretty back yard next time!
The pictures on website do not do this beautiful house justice. I was on a 5 day break with my 3 very good friends and it was brilliant. You thought of everything and the greeting hamper was perfect, thank you. It is a short walk into the centre of Alnwick and to the Castle and Gardens and central for other days out we did Bamburgh and Lindisfarne Holy Island as well as Beamish which is 1 hrs drive away, but worth it. We were lucky to have seen a fantastic showing of the Northern Lights, perfect end to a fantastic hol. Definitely recommend 19 Duke Street, you won't be disappointed, we were not.
Michelle
Beautiful, comfortable house a short stroll from the centre of Alnwick. Very warm & cosy, comfortable bed, lovely shower and easy to park outside. Our first visit to Northumberland and this was a perfect base and location to explore from, we even had a day trip to Edinburgh on the train! Make sure you visit Barter books just down the road. The excellent welcome hamper was the icing on the cake.
Louise
A wonderful house that offered us everything we needed. We felt very comfortable. It is also a good base for exploring Northumberland.
We had a wonderful stay at 19 Duke Street in October. This is a beautiful house with absolutely everything we could have wished for. The sky lounge had incredible views and was so peaceful.Being able to park outside the property and stroll into the centre of Alnwick was a huge bonus. The location of the house is ideal and although it is in a terrace, we never heard any noise from the neighbours. The welcome hamper was very much appreciated thank you! We will definitely be returning next year. Sue, Philip and Stuart.
All the previous reviews are spot on this is a great house! It's a spacious, well positioned, cosy ,well equipped 3 bedroom house with a lovely new sky lounge, ideal for couples or families. It is ideally placed for visiting Alnwick Castle and Gardens,Alnwick Town and Barter books and surrounding attractions. We had a lovely holiday here and would definitely stay here again if we were visiting the area.
Kirsty
This property is an absolute gem and perfect as a base for exploring Northumberland. Spacious, homely and wellequipped, 19 Duke Street is a real home from home. The top floor sky lounge was an added bonus and gave our boys their own space in which to chill out. We would highly recommend a stay at this property to anyone wanting to visit Alnwick and the surrounding area.
Tracey
This was a gorgeous house, spotlessly clean, comfortable, spacious and perfectly situated. Lovely touch from the owners with the little welcome pack. We would like to think we'll return here, there's so much to see and do in the area.
19 Duke St is a gem! We had a fab time in Northumberland made all the better with a great place to come back to each evening.
Robert
Firstly location ideal easy walk into Alnwick for shopping ,evening meal or browsing. Easy walk to Alnwick castle, or gardens, bus stop a few minutes walk ,on street parking but never had a problem. 19 Duke Street spotlessly clean and very well equipped with all you need for your stay, tea coffee biscuits crisps & wine all waiting for you on arrival , we did find double bed a bit squeaky on our first night so changed to other room after that and lovely and comfortable, would recommend Duke Street And would stay here again when in the area,
We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful house. It was spotlessly clean, comfortable and everything you could possibly need was supplied. It was a real home from home. We have visited Alnwick several times now and intend to do so again in the future. We hope that when we do we will be able to stay at 19 Duke Street. Thankyou.
We had a great stay at a really lovely house. The property was brilliantly situated in a quiet road, well maintained, clean, and had all the amenities one could wish for. Highly recommended
Angela
Exceptionally clean town house Home from home Fantastic location very quiet ... Exceptionally clean town house Home from home Fantastic location very quiet street can not fault at all and would highly recommend and will return
Thank you for a very comfortable stay at 19 Duke Street. We had everything we needed in this lovely cottage and touches like the welcome basket, milk and a bottle of wine on our arrival were really appreciated. The cottage it'self is clean and well equipped and is located within walking distance of Alnwick town and all its attractions. Parking was easy and we had good directions and communication from the owners. Would definitely recommend.
Rachel
Our stay was very brief, but lovely. 19 Duke Street is a very cosy and comfortable cottage, in a great location. We really enjoyed being able to leave the car and walk to Alnwick castle. The Easter card and welcome pack were thoughtful gestures which were much appreciated. We wouldnt hesitate to recommend 19 Duke Street to others.
Lovely accommodation with all the home comforts you would need. Stayed over New Year, was decorated and lovely welcome basket. Would definitely recommend
We stayed at 19 Duke Street over Christmas. The owners had decorated the place beautifully for the festive season and left us a lovely welcome pack including prosecco and mince pies. We stayed for a little over a week so got to know the house well. It was more spacious than we were expecting, all of the rooms including the bathroom are of a more generous size than we initially expected from a terraced house. The kitchen was well equipped, the living and dining rooms had everything we needed, and the beds were very comfy with lovely warm duvets, even though it was the middle of winter. At the bottom of the road is Barter Books where we could have spent our entire holiday just browsing. The rest of the town centre is just 510 minutes walk away, and Alnwick Garden and Alnwick Castle are each about 15 minutes walk or a short drive of course. Alnwick is perfectly placed for exploring Northumberland's beautiful countryside and coast, and Duke Street is only 5 minutes from the A1 so it's easy to get around. There are convenience stores and a Lidl just around the corner, or larger supermarkets just a few minutes away by car. We were able to park right outside the house, although Duke Street is quite narrow so if like us you have a larger car you have to park it half up on the pavement. All the neighbours do the same though, so it's not a problem. In summary we had a fantastic time at this property and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a short or longer break in this area.
Christine
19 Duke Street is a beautiful spotlessly clean and comfortable house and it had everything we needed to meet all our needs. I would highly recommend staying here. It is central to many towns and villages with lots of things to see and do, if we going down that way again we wouldnt hesitate to book again.
