Sunset Point Reviews

Lovely flat, well appointed and comfortable in a great location. Very clean and comfortable beds, comfy sofas and big tv. We would recommend this flat as a good base for moving up and down the coast to make the most of the great walks.
My friend and I were looking for a short stay in a more upmarket property so we chose Sykes Holidays, as we thought this company would provide this sort of holiday, however we are disappointed. The property was OKnice however there were a number of issues 1. Only 1 TV out of the 3 worked, very disappointing as one that didn't work was in the lounge. 2. The shower in one of the bedrooms didn't work, as it was not possible to alter the temperature, as it was broken. We tried to contact the number in the folder for assistance, however there was no reply. We noticed these issues had been highlighted before and clearly ignored. Overall very poor service, especially after the money paid for this holiday. We won't be returning, we think when these problems are highlighted they should be addressed ASAP. Overall poor service for the money paid. Also poor directions, extremely difficult to find the property as street signs are not present
We enjoyed our stay in Alnmouth. Sunset Point met our needs regarding parking, ensuite bedrooms and spacious rooms but the chest of drawers in the bedroom 2 were falling apart as was the kick board in the kitchen and we were unable to work the TV. The lights is the stairway did not switch at all The temperature control on the shower in Bedroom 2 was jammed as was the latch on the door.

The apartment is clean and comfortable in a great location and being on the second floor meant that we had beautiful views. The biggest recommendation is to have more instructions and labelling as well as tidy the outside, which was meant to be a place to sit outside but had rusty metal furniture that was all over and upturned chairs. There were no labels on the key safe boxes so it was a guess as to which one held the key. The keys also have 3 on the keyring but again, not labelled and one wasn't needed at all. The main bedroom shower temperature control did not work, there was only one lamp working in the living room and there were no instructions for the TV other than a variety of manufacturer instructions but these did not help to show how we used the various cobbled together media items. We could use the DVD player so we were able to watch some films over the time we were there on an evening. There was also a request to empty the bins and put them in the outside bins, which were nowhere to be seen we eventually found some that we thought might be them when we found 6 mins at the bottom of the hill in front if the new house being built but again, not labelled. Some updatingmaintenance and basic instructions could make this apartment much better.

The Lounge and the two bedrooms each had a TV, they looked good on the publicity photos, but none of them gave us a signal for TV channels. Worked OK as a Monitor when linked to our IPad. The DVD Player worked. The poor quality, broken storage falling apart which was mentioned in other reviews has not been fixed. We rent four or five holiday homes a year, this was by far the worst. Left early
Fab location. Very comfortable. Showers maybe need updating
Catherine
Very nice property, comfortable and well equipped . Lovely view from the front windows . Good position in the village.
Flat looks lovely and was fine, but the furniture was rather shakily assembled and not all usable. Also, is there a reason why you don't provide salt and pepper? Maybe even cooking oil? Most properties do, and it is very much appreciated
Kirsty
Lovely house in the perfect location. Very spacious.
This is a great, spacious, well equipped, top floor apartment in a lovely old building situated close to the river with lovely views. Both bedrooms have ensuites which is a huge bonus. Allocated parking spaces is fantastic too. However, the property was a huge let down because of the noisy building site immediately to the front of the property where 5 houses are being built. Going by the Sykes website, this work was supposed to be finished by end of July we booked back in March and were never informed this work would be ongoing, otherwise we would have booked somewhere else. We arrived on the 4th Aug and the noise started just after 8am every day including the Saturday after we arrived, windows couldn't be left open due to the noise, and the constant noise spoiled our holiday. This made out stay stressful, so much so that we came home a day early not the peaceful, destress holiday we had hoped for unfortunately. Because of this, we've asked for some compensationrefund, but we're not hopeful.

Directions were incorrect. Estuary Drive not on any maps and it came off Riverside Road, not Marine Road as stated. There were 4 keys safes on the fence, none labelled, so trial and error to find the right one. Then there were 3 keys in the safe, none labelled, Then it took at least 4 attempts to unlock the door, even when we found the right key. It made a stressful start to our break. There was a light out in the ensuite bathroom so it was bit dark in there. No recycling facilities appeared to be available. Otherwise a lovely place with stunning views, and well equipped
Alison
A lovely flat, clean and comfortable. Nicely decorated and furnished, and fairly well equipped.
The apartment was reasonably comfortable. Minor points were that some food had been left eg 4 eggs which we threw out as we didn't know their age, frozen peas, the same, there was only one parking space which did not bother us as we had only one car but others might have two cars, the TV equipment took a little bit of getting used to, to complicated for us in our 70s, the Yale lock on the door was irrelevant, but I felt it should be closed which I tried to do unsuccessfully before I realised it was irrelevant perhaps it should be removed. I hope this helps, Barry.
The dustbins were full and black bags also full were piled against them. It appeared refuse collection had not been made for weeks. Someone needs to take responsibility for this.
We did not even have the advantage of viewing the property except from outside as the property was double booked and a very serious complaint has been sent to Sykes.
Great position. Beautiful apartment.
Leonie
Lovely apartment with plenty of space. Great views though would be nice to have some high chairs and table to enjoy them. We really enjoyed our stay!
Excellent, spacious, modern apartment so close to wonderful beach of Alnmouth. Great base to explore Northumberland. Highly recommend.
