Ottoline Cottage Reviews

This was our second stay at Otterline cottage. Fabulous location within spitting distance of the beach at Embleton, and the wonderful links course of Dunstanburgh Castle. Accommodation very comfortable, our only gripe being the spring loaded latch doors. Despite the door restraints it was difficult to stop some of the doors slamming shut, which was annoying, especially at night.

The most beautiful cottage in the most perfect place. Lots of coastal walking. This is our second stay and hopefully won't be our last, I always feel so at home and peaceful at Ottoline Cottage, thank you. This was exactly what I needed.
An absolutely perfect location. A comfortable cottage and had everything you needed except a coffee machine although lots of cafetiere in varying sizes with a lovely welcome package of milk, biscuits. Loved our stay. Embelton bay, with Dunstanburgh castle overlooking it, being such a short walk away made this a heavenly holiday for us and the dogs.
Excellent location and very comfortable spacious cottage
A really stylish, well equipped cottage in a beautiful location close to a gorgeous beach. In an ideal world, we'd have liked some sort of shower over the bath in the main upstairs bathroom but a minor niggle. We would love to stay here again.
Second time weve stayed and love the location and cottage. This time we spent more time around the cottage and garden enjoying the space and relaxing, thank you! Nitpicking here knives were bit mixed, no bread knife. Fish slice thats not metal to avoid scratching nonstick pan. Soft brush for wooden floors for a quick sweep around! But we managed, non of these detracted from our stay and the lovely, well equipped cottage.

The place was lovely but i am 72 yrs old and found the flimsy rugs, especially in the kitchen a bit of a safety issue, i cant count the number of times i tripped over it, a flat plastic rug perhaps would be better, or perhaps none at all.

The house is lovely and in a fantastic location. We were really impressed by how well equipped the cottage is, down to the little step stool to allow the best views to be seen from the bedroom skylight. It was all very comfortable and nicely furnished. Delighted to find we had sufficient dishwasher tablets, loo rolls etc, which isnt always the case. The only slight drawbacks were the proximity of the sofa to the fire not sure why the room is arranged this way and the slow draining of the shower. But these did not take the shine off what was a wonderful stay.
This was our third visit as we love the cottage and location so much, ideally positioned for coastline walks, dips in the sea and fine dining. A very comfortable bed and excellent shower. Good range of equipment in the kitchen

Peaceful location, easy access to beach, walks in every direction. Loads to do in the area whether you use a car or not. Already planning return. House was well equipped and maintained, at least for our needs. A better blind on west facing window in main bedroom would turn a 9.9 to a 10.

We had a lovely week at Ottoline. A well presented and brilliantly located cottage just a few minutes walk from a stunning and quiet beach. Perfect for walks with our dog and to top it off, the weather was great. The stay could have been made even better if there had been an outside tap for cleaning off the dog after our walks the maintenance people who cut the grass could have removed the grass cuttings so the dog and us didnt walk grass cuttings into the house & if the mattress in the main bedroom had been just a little softer and the bed not so creaky!!
Great location and lovely cottage. Loved our stay and hope to be back sometime. Just one thing we couldnt find clothes drying line? We found the pegs!

This was out third visit to the cottage so we know it well and it was clean and comfortable as expected. The issue that concerned us this year was the oil boiler which seemed to give off more fumes than previous years. Yes the weather was cold so the boiler was on quite a bit but having had experience with oil boilers it just seemed to give off more fumes than one might expect. Obviously you could smell it in the garden but also sometimes in the cottage.
We wee surprised how isolated the cottage was and the lack of nearby facilities.
Beautiful and perfect location for our holiday we were after somewhere easy reach of the beach with a fabulous view of the coast and Ottoline definitely delivered. Facilities in the cottage were great which we made good use of during our stay cooking meals with a view of the sea. Bed linen and towels of good quality and all clean. A five star place for us and we'll be back again.

This is our second time staying here, we and the dogs absolutely love the cottage and the outstanding coastal walking on your door step. Only a couple of niggles, for some reason there was no hot water the morning we vacated, the freezer needed defrosting , it was so iced up the door would not close. Had to borrow a corkscrew from next door important utensil especially when on holiday
Another wonderful weeks holiday in Ottoline Cottage. Perfect peaceful location and great for walks on the beach with our dog. Our only recommendation is to install an outdoor tap in the back garden to rinse sandy feet and paws before coming indoors. I spent ages clearing sand and hoovering during our stay.
Fantastic holiday in thoughtfully presented cottage in fabulous location, ideally located down the road and through the dunes to beach and on circular walkcycle path route. Investigation needed on the oil flue as fumes reentered the property through the shower room & bath room windows together with the back door when left open. Should we have had hot weather it would have been unbearable to have had these closed, whereas with the inclement weather we were only mildly inconvenienced.

Brilliant cottage, we love Embleton bay so the location is perfect for us. Early morning dog walks with the sun rising behind Dunstanburgh castle were divine. The quality of everything in the cottage was extremely high which we appreciated. The bed was supremely comfy we only used the master, the shower was hot and powerful, the towels were large and fluffy, the wood burning stove was large enough to heat up the room quickly. We didnt cook much, as there are so many lovely places to eat nearby, but the kitchen was extremely well equipped and had everything you needed.. We loved Ottoline cottage and we will definitely book again, thank you.

Ottoline Cottage is in a great location and is beautifully furnished and equipped. It&rsquos obvious that a lot of thought has been given to the use of space. Couldn&rsquot fault it. It&rsquos just a shame that it&rsquos already booked for the equivalent week next year or we would definitely have returned.
