Old Stable Cottage Reviews

Lovely place to stay. Perfect location close to the beach and shops in Alnmouth. Great base for walking. Comfy and cosy with a great log fire. We stayed here early Oct 2025 and again in early November 2025.
Barbara
The inside of the property is reasonably comfortable however be warned that the outside is currently part of a building site! The woodburner needs thoroughly cleaned as wood would not burn even with a number of firelighters not supplied. As previously reported, there was no welcome pack, only 3 table spoons and only the remnants of toilet roll in each bathroom. As this is being reported for the 2nd time, perhaps the owner will take notice.
Robert
We were disappointed with the lack of the following 1. No welcome pack not even some milk after a long drive 2. Badly equipped kitchen only three dessert spoons and one sauce pan! 3. No DVDBlu ray player as specified in description plus broken TV remote 4. No bulbs in some of the lamps 5. No details of bin days how to leave cottage on the last day 6. No warning that the downstairs shower was scalding, plumber appeared on Wednesday 7. Very little toilet roll Note I also had to remove rotting prawns from the bottom of the bin as the bin bag had been placed on top. On the whole the cottage with its poor furniture and cleanliness issues did not feel very welcoming. Its only saving grace was its comfortable bed and good location. This is a three star property at best.

Minor details let the property down slightly, for example the light in the entrance hall was not working, we would have liked a broom or hoover so that we could clean up the sand and dust while we there and before we left. There were no table mats for the dining table, so we used magazines instead
This is a lovely slightly quirky cottage I loved it. Brilliant location in a super coastal village, 5 minutes walk to the beach is a treat. 2 excellent restaurants as well as some useful small shops. Only suggestion is that it should be made clear that the downstairs bedroom and bathroom are separated by the lounge! Otherwise it was all great and I would definitely come again. Owners were lovely and very helpful which was a bonus.
Lovely property in ideal location for local facilities.
A very comfortable, spacious and wellequipped property in a quiet location, but close to village amenities. An ideal base for exploring the coast.
We absolutely loved our stay at Old Stables Cottage. The Cottage had everything we could possible need, comfy beds, lovely log burner. We cant wait to return next year.
Excellent location. Property is a nice size. Stayed in Almouth previously and this property would be our first choice now. Kitchen is well stocked, even a slow cooker. TV in bedroom as well.
Excellent accommodation, clean, well laid out, everything you might need was provided.
Accommodation comfortable and spacious. Well equipped. Two parking spaces worth their weight in gold.
Pleasant cottage with everything provided that you may need. Big pluses for us were dog friendliness of Cottage, Alnmouth, parking spaces and quiet location in town near beaches. Also beds were comfortable and WiFi was a bonus.
A lovely cottage with parking which is a bonus in Alnmouth.
So peaceful and quiet with everything you would need.
Spacious, warm and comfortable, with a good layout, we both thought you could easily live in it permanently. Great position for walking locally, whether along the coast or river, or just for food and a pint in one of the many dog friendly pubs. You can spend entire days without using a car or use the excellent and quiet local roads to explore further.
The cottage was very well appointed and in a very quiet location. Dog friendly stone floor which made cleaning up after them easy. Highly recommended.
