Long Cart Cottage Reviews

Absolutely beautiful cottage and estate. When we arrived we found butter, milk and orange juice in the fridge, a loaf of bread plus a pack of biscuits to welcome us. Coffee, tea bags and sugar also. Cottage was immaculate, very comfortable. Plus there was a gorgeous swimming pool, which again, was immaculate. Wish we could have stopped longer. Well worth a visit.
The property was superb, well equipped and a good spec. We received a welcome pack on arrival that was very thoughtful and unexpected. We had one maintenance issue that was dealt with effectively. We made use of the swimming pool which was an added bonus. Our only negative was the walk to the beach was a little bit longer than expected, took around 45mins. Overall, we were very happy with our cottage and will continue to book with Sykes.
This is our second stay at long cart cottage. We love it. Super comfy bed. Fabulous views of the sea and Dunstanburgh castle. Helpful friendly staff. Everything lovely and clean. The welcome pack was a very nice touch the biscuits were delicious. Having the pool to yourselves in your chosen slot is so relaxing. We hope to stay again next year.
Beautiful location, really nice that you could easily walk down to the beach and into embleton through the fields. The pool was nice, just a little bit too cold for my daughter to be in for very long, and the cottage was great. Would definitely stay again
Beautiful location but a little too isolated for some of us. The property was nicely decorated although this was let down by the amount of dust seen i.e TV in bedroom and some doors. Given the list of instructions left for guests i.e stripping beds, emptying all bins and ensuring all kitchen equipment left clean etc we felt a little let down that the rest of the property didnt live up to this. The use of the pool was great albeit limited but this is understandable if all properties are occupied. All in all a nice place but not as homely as other Sykes Cottages.
Jennifer
Excellent cottage Excellent location nothing to fault!
Steven
We have stayed at North Farm Cottages before but this was our first time in Long Cart Cottage. We chose Long Cart Cottage because one of our party has Parkinsons disease, we realise that the cottage wasnt advertised as suitable for people with a disability but it did have an adjustable bed and a ramp into the cottage. We feel it would be a benefit for the wet room to have a hand held shower as well as an overhead one which would make showering for a disabled person so much easier. The second bathroom would also benefit if it had a shower over the bath. Overall the cottage was very clean and comfortable.
Barbara
What a fabulous cottage. Warm, amazing views, very well equipped in every way with a few extras that went above and beyond eg bread, milk, tea, toiletries all more waiting for us. Generous provision of towels and bedding. Easy walks to the beach and the village, this complex of cottages is in a fabulous spot. And with private use of an onsite indoor swimming pool! Via a booking system shared with all the cottages we have loved our week here and didnt want to leave.
Hayley
The cottage was lovely, had everything we needed & the views were beautiful. Having the pool to use was even better would definitely come back.
We really enjoyed our stay at Long Cart cottage, ideally situated to explore the Nothumberland coast and nearby tourist attractions. We particularly appreciated the owners maintenance of their dedicated footpaths to nearby Embleton & the coastal path. It would have been helpful to list in advance what the 'welcome pack' contains so we didn't duplicate on produce, but otherwise an excellent experience.
Philip
Beautiful, spacious cottage with great view of the sea and near a pretty village with a shop, Post Office and pubs. What's not to like ?? Added extra is the indoor swimming pool with an amazing view of the sea as the sun goes down.
Alison
My husband is in a wheelchair and we booked Long Cart because of the availability of a wet room and it all being on one floor. We had booked a shower chair in advance and taken our own stick on handles and toilet seat for the bathroom but struggled the first night because the toilet had no bars on either side. However the next day we asked and were provided with a toilet frame. We also asked for something to act as a ramp to enable him to get out into the enclosed garden 2 steps and this was also provided . The only thing I would say is that the bathroom is a bit tight in space for manoeuvering a wheelchair but we managed. Our problems were dealt with promptly and efficiently. We enjoyed our stay and will most probably be back. Many thanks.
We had a fab time the cottage is lovely
Eileen
We loved Long Cart cottage , however we were disappointed in the facilities for my disabled mother. The wet room was not ideal, There were no grab handles near the toilet or shower. The toilet itself was to low and we had to get my daughter to bring a higher seat which was attached to the original seat. The shower itself didnt have a hand held facility which made it very difficult for her, If these issues were addressed the cottage would be ideal for anyone with a disability
Absolutely brilliant stay. Amazingly clean and fantastic setup. Everything was organised perfectly. Pictures dont show actually how good it is.
Nicola
Overall we really loved staying in Long Cart Cottage. We have stayed on at North Farm twice before in different properties which says it all!. The location is great, being near the beach is lovely, and we love the pool. The kitchen was really well stocked with equipment, and the welcome pack was very gratefully received. It would be great to have an upgraded TV to a smart TV so that we could access our own content, though the DVD selection was awful and loads of discs missing. My other suggestion would be to upgrade the furniturestorage some of it was a bit creaky and there was a lack of shelvesdrawers to put your clothes inon. Overall we were very happy and comfortable in the cottage and would come again!
Philip
Very well furnished cottage everything we needed was there and very clean and tidy on arrival. Fantastic location and great views over the sea and of Dunstanburgh Castle in the distance. We will be back !!!
Virginia
Enjoyed our stay, lovely cottage, good facilities and really loved the pool. Would have been really useful to have a washing line in the garden to dry our towels. Thank you we will come again to wonderful Northumberland.
For us, Long Cart and its environs were perfect for us to entertain our 10 year old twin grandchildren. Northumberland has often been one of our most favourite places to visit, with so many superb attractions. Booking the holiday could not have been easier, despite us requesting a change of accommodation...many thanks.
Michaela
Great cottage very family friendly. Excellent swimming pool. Family had a wonderful break.
Pamela
This is the third year we have stayed at North Farm Cottages. We know that it will be spotlessly clean. The pool is just brilliant and tops any other holiday location because of this. We will be back next year! Thank you
Patricia
Swimming pool a real bonus, impression given before booking that it is closer to the sea than it was. Problem if you cannot walk that far. Good central location for the visiting of castles, houses and gardens but not if you want to visit the sea if you cant walk up and down steep hills, or even get parking.
There were a couple of problems with bathroom tap and plug drainage . The quality of duvet, cover and sheets let the property down . Not 4 . Thin ,dingy white, past its best . Otherwise lovely cottage and surroundings .
Lovely holiday cottage in a lovely location. Great kids play area and ducks to feed, plus friendly sheep, rooster and hens. Beach was a bit further than expected 28 minutes walk with a 5 year old according to strava, and not the buggy friendly path we had been expecting. Still a lovely walk though. Different lovely wander to the village and 3 pubs to choose from. Only thing missing was a BBQ which would have added nicely to the stay. Would recommend as we had a lovely half term stay.
Lovely location Lovely view from the cottage and great walk to the coast Good spots for bird watching Comfortable and easy to manage.
The views of the sea, which we expected, were great, but walking the path down to the beach was a lovely experience. We hadn't been aware of the secure duck pond or the childrens playground, which would be lovely for people with young children. In our property there was an orthopedic bed, which we hadn't noticed mentioned in the literature, but for some people would have been really useful. We will certainly look for availability at this or one of the other properties at the complex, when we next visit the area. We had planned this visit with our son and his wife, but unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions in the Northumberland area, mixed households were not allowed, so we had to visit alone.
Really lovely cottage in a beautiful location. Nice and quiet. Everything was clean, the pool was immaculate, beds were comfy. Would definitely visit again given the chance.
Christine
Excellent accommodation, hairdresser and massage needs advertising more. In walking shower room, there needs to be something to storeplace toiletries on.
Without doubt the best cottage I've stayed in during the last 25 years, views, ... Without doubt the best cottage I've stayed in during the last 25 years, views, comfort, facilities all excellent as well as peaceful and relaxing
Lorraine
The best thing about Long Cart Cottage was the view. The accommodation was very clean and spacious and comfortable and we had no concerns over the virus during our stay. The king sized bedroom was spacious and mattress comfortable, but the view out of the window was of the SUV of the owner, thus not very private. Also of note is that this cottage is very close to the chicken coop which contained 3 cockerels, but they were not too noisy but I would not recommend this cottage for light sleepers. The ensuite wet room adjoins the single bedroom and master bedroom and only 1 door locks from the inside. Note that the property only contains 1 shower in the wet room and it completely wets the sink and toilet upon use. As there was no cabinet for your toiletries, these too got wet. Both bathrooms do not have a window. The kitchen was very well stocked and dish washer tablets provided. The fridge and freezer are separate and as a family of 4 we struggled with the small fridge. The outside patio was lovely but note that it is not completely private from next door's hot tub. Wifi signal was perfect but no mobile signal. The location was about perfect with Seahouses and A1 about 1015 min drive away in opposite directions.
We particularly enjoyed the beautiful view of Dunstanburgh Castle from our living room windows, the lovely swimming pool with rota to ensure one household use at a time, and the generous amount of green space at the property for the children to play in.
We absolutely loved our holiday here. The cottage was lovely with incredible views to the sea and castle and the walk to the beach through the fields was gorgeous. The swimming pool was also great. I would love to come back!
Pamela
Excellent accommodation comfortable and fabulous facilities. What makes this place however is its beautiful location . Views are amazing and the setting makes for a memorable and very relaxing family holiday . Close to fabulous beaches and restaurants. Indoor pool is an added bonus and is of a very high specification . We have already discussed returning .
Kathleen
Excellent accommodation, clean, comfortable and with everything we needed. Lovely views over to Dunstanburgh Castle and nice walks in both directions. The swimming pool was great a real bonus, especially for one member of the family with mobility problems who was unable to enjoy the walks. We would use this accommodation again. Booking easy and efficient, our only complaint being that to change the booking slightly, which would have incurred no extra charge for the property, would have cost us 30. This seems excessive for a couple of clicks emails.
Shirley
Really beautiful & peaceful location.
Russell
Very enjoyable stay and we will book again very comfortable high quality accommodation, new swimming pool, lovely path through the fields to the beach.
Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings with good facilities. Well situated to explore the county or just relax for a few days.
The property was very comfortable with good facilities. We made ourselves at home straight away. We loved the setting, it was quiet and suited our needs. As wildlife enthusiasts we were pleased to see and watch the hares on the green outside the property. The walk down to the beach was beautiful and full of birdlife and wildflowers. This was the first time we had visited Northumberland and we will certainly be visiting again. Local folk were friendly and helpful. Thank you for making it a very enjoyable experience.
The lounge window looked onto the sea and the flora and fauna was stunning. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. If you want a peaceful, relaxing holiday We would thoroughly recommend this cottage.
Olivia
