Lantern View Reviews

There was dust and cobwebs behind doors and bedside tables and surfaces. It could do with a deep clean. Splash back on bathroom sink had toothpaste marks and hob dirty

This property is in a lovely spot with gorgeous views. Its a single track lane up to the house which wasn't a problem. There are usually quite a number of pheasants and partridges to avoid on the road which I found quite nice, does slow you down though! You can be on the coast in around 30 minutes, Alnwick and Cragside only about 20 mins away so good location wise. The Tankerville Arms is a lovely pub about 15 minutes away with nice food. The property itself was really nice however did lack a little tlc. Needed a little love and attention to detail. There were a few minor repairs needed looking at other reviews the towel rail in the bathroom has been falling of the wall since 2023, the cover on the outside of the extractor fan which didn't work in the same bathroom was missing and quite a lot of flies were getting in. The property was generally clean however there were a few areas that needed attention i.e. there were large ?hair?dust balls under the shoe rack and a xouple of greasy items in the kitchen. Despite these issues the property was furnished well with good quality furnishings and.a lovely cosy log burner and could be amazing with a little maintenance and love.
A lovely peaceful break away from it all A great place to kick back and relax we would love to return for another holiday .
What a fantastic location with views to die for. Loved the Cottage which was superbly appointed although I did have an intimate affair with the shower upstairs which was rather small. Still, it did what it said on the tin.
Fabulous week in this beautiful, contemporary cottage in the quiet community of Titlington. We have rarely stayed in a cottage with such a well stocked kitchen with ample china and cutlery. Although Sykes said to bring our own cleaning materials, everything was provided by the owners. We would highly recommend and would definitely return.

Beautiful property and secluded and peaceful. OK if there are no mobility issues but would not recommend for disabled people. Stairs are challenging and random steps throughout. I loved it though.
Thankyou for this spacious and well equipped cottage . .we had a wonderful stay . Quiet and relaxing .
Darren
Beautiful property. Furnished with all the items youll need for a stay away from home. Great location for exploring Northumberland. We had a really nice stay here. Would Highly recommend.
Overall a good experience! Some extra touches would have made our stay easiermore pleasurable. For Example there is no WIFI signal in the upstairs room and sporadic connection throughout the property. No full length mirror or place to do hairmakeup in upstairs room. No SMART TV for apps such as NetflixDisney. Property is Advertised as Pet Free however Dog Hairs visible on soft furnishings sofa, this was also noted early on after an allergy response on arrival.. not a great way to start the Holiday and should not be advertised as Pet Free if this is not the case!! Beds are either double or single, no king size option. Room upstairs was very hot after a warm day and stayed warm throughout the night. No welcome pack or even toilet roll so make sure you shop for essentials on the way in. Kitchen was well stocked and in good working order. Property location ideal with just a short drive to Alnwick for supplies and views are beautiful, very peaceful and restful stay!
Really lovely cottage and picturesque location.

Lantern View Ref. 1122121 Its a pretty picture but its for looking at not living in! This is the first time Ive been disappointed with our choice of getaway accommodation. This statement was uttered within 10 minutes of our entering the property. And all whilst standing in an attractive property that has obviously been subject to fairly lavish care and attention. So why? We are two couples, active but past the first flush of youth, who meet for a few days each year in some corner of this Sceptred Isle. One of us, whilst otherwise very mobile, has difficulty climbing stairs and getting into a bath without help. So, the critical advertised facility that lead to our choosing Lantern View was Groundfloor Bathroom with bath, walkin shower and WC there is no walkin shower. The listing also advertised 1x groundfloor twin with TV there is no TV we dont want TV in the bedroom but the facilities should reflect the listed facilities. One other item expected, but neither listed nor present in either bathroom, is an electric shaver socket. The firstfloor bedroom is listed as having an ensuite with walkin shower, basin and WC but the room is around 5feet square, the shower base is smaller than the smallest available from B&Q and the maximum door opening is 14 wide enough to allow an adult to sidle in, but not enough to allow them to reach down to wash the nether regions. Back to the facilities listing Openplan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area with woodburning stove this is a very nice feature of the property and, works very well. However, there is a step up to the sitting area that is not as obvious as it could be one of our group tripped over it twice in the first hour of our being there. Fortunately, no damage to person or property but one day? We suggest a length of eyecatching adhesive tape be applied to minimise the risk. Finally, a few words regarding the groundfloor bedrooms neither of which has easy access around the beds nor adequate stowage space for suitcases or for clothes hanging. The twinroom has been fitted with a 9inch deep shelving unit behind the bedheads this has reduced a comfortable walking space between the foot of the beds and the wall of about 21inches to about 1foot. This means we have to shuffle sideways to get past the beds to reach the window or boiler room, and this isnt good for aging knee joints. The shelves serve no useful purpose and obscure access to the wallsockets mounted in the wall behind them. The double room is more difficult, but it could make a very comfortable room for a single bed or even good quality bunkbeds. ITS A PITY. Given the richness of the Northumbrian culture and heritage, this could have been our best getaway yet, but the accessibility issues detracted from full enjoyment of the experience. We will return to this area but, sadly, not to Lantern View. Regards, Leslie Cumming.
On arrival at the property was quite shocked at the condition of the very long pot hole drive ,Having a small sports car it wasn't ideal . Once in the property the decor was very nice but found a few issues. Firstly the door opposite the bedroom bathroom downstairs didn't have a blind which was very much needed. The towel holder in main bathroom was hanging off the wall. All bedrooms where very small but the upstairs bedroom should have a king bed for comfort. The shower was tight and the bottom around the metal was black with mold the sink was a little bit small also difficult to do anything more than was your hands . The TV had lots of finger print all over it and the control was sticky some of the crockery was dirty so I just kept using the same one's every day. A little more attention to detail is needed.
We stayed for a few day and had a lovely lovely time the cottage is fantastic and we were very pleased

Delightful cottage in a beautiful setting with superb views. Plenty of places to visit, fairly locally. Alnwick Garden, Chillingham Castle and White Cattle, Cragside to name a few.
Really enjoyable stay at Lantern View with my wife and three year old. Peaceful location, spacious and a great place to unwind. Our son loved exploring all the beaches and castles Northumberland had to offer. Great DVD selection too! Highly recommend.
Beautifully presented cottage situated in an isolated but stunning position. Impressive array of cooking aids are available in the property. Would definitely recommend this property for exploring Northumbria.
Very peaceful.
Beautiful location, gorgeous property very cosy during our sleet filled week! Very well appointed and equipped. Would thoroughly recommend.
Great cottage. Modern décor and fantastic location. Easy to reach the coast, Alnwick and places around Rothbury.
An excellent property to escape to and enjoy a relaxing holiday. Cosy for relaxing after a day of exploring. Remote location of the beaten track so take supplies and have fun.
Lovely spacious property, beautiful location, long distance views, beautiful sun rises, dark sky Milky Way stars, friendly horses, peace and quiet. Not too far from Alnmouth beach, adjacent to main roads, once you&39ve navigated single track roads, ancient part of Northumberland, lots of history. Prepare to get lost in the lanes and pop up where you least expected with another stunning view no traffic. Would book again.
