Home Stead Cottage Reviews

Pauline
This is our 3rd stay in Homestead cottage. We absolutely love it and will be coming back. It's very comfortable and has everything you need. We love the log fire. The cottages are near the coast so we could walk from the property to the beach which our dog loved! And there is the bonus of a swimming pool. Perfect!
Wonderful setting. Great views and loads of space. Extremely clean and well maintained. The bathrooms are spacious with brilliant showers. The kitchens could do with a few more items such as larger glasses etc. Seemed a bit sparse. But we had the best time and would definitely recommend. Great for families and people with dogs.
Stacey
This was just the perfect place for me and my family which comprises of me, my husband, 2 dogs, a 2 year old and a baby. The dogs could be walked right on the door step as it takes you to a field that eventually links to a path up to the beach. This really helped in the morning. My toddler loved the little park but also having access to lots of grass to run wild. The lodge was very spacious and felt big enough for us all. The swimming pool was fantastic, warm pool and clean facilities. Northumberland is a beautiful county but with a young family we also needed somewhere to retreat to regularly. We have booked again for Christmas already. It very much is toddler and dog friendly if your like us that struggles to find somewhere that meets both needs!
Absolutely loved this property and its location. Fabulous swimming pool facilities as well. We will definitely be back in the near future.
Great place, accommodation

We were very impressed with Homestead Cottage. It was spotlessly clean with a thoughtful welcome pack and it had everything that we needed. The views are simply stunning and it is a perfect location with walking distance to Embleton Village and to the breath taking beach at Embleton Bay. Having private access to the pool was a definite bonus. We greatly enjoyed our stay and are hoping to be back soon.
Excellent. Beautiful views in a peaceful location. .

A fantastic base to explore the surrounding area. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped. Sea views with a beautiful walk to Embleton Bay. We were treated to deers in the fields each morning, stunning sunrises on the horizon, rabbits and hares and the icing on the cake was the barn owl literally flying right outside the cottage. The swimming facilities were excellent. Cant rate out stay here highly enough. Thank you.
Jennifer
Excellent cottage. Great complex. Fantastic coastal views. Lovely staff on site, nothing too much trouble.
Leslie
The cottages at North Farm are cosy with excellent facilities in a perfect location with superb views to the sea and dunstanburgh castle in the distance. We have stayed in this cottage and the one next door in the past and been very happy. Just a short walk across the fields takes you to the coastal path and beach. Starter groceries were left for us which was much appreciated. Icing on the cake for me is being able to have a relaxing swim in the lovely pool. We would reccommend this cottage 100. Thankyou once again
Great cottage, great view down to the sea. Orange juice, milk, bread, tea and biscuits all provided. My only possible criticism is that the bedrooms were a little small and storage for clothes was limited. Great holiday, in a great spot for touring.
Christine
Lovely cottages in a great location, well maintained with the bonus of having a swumming pool.
Jennifer
Had a great time, property was spot on. Need to let people know there is ample storage in divan drawers in bedrooms. A shelf in the bathrooms would be a brilliant addition. Lovely staff on site. Amazing walks right from the doorstep. Pool is a real treat.
Fantastic property in a superb location. Being able to book slots in the brilliant swimming pool just for our family was an added bonus. The property owners have tried to think of everything. Cutting pathways in the surrounding fields to access the beach and village of Embleton is a great idea and made both really accessible. Very well maintained properties and grounds and extremely clean and comfortable. Our only request would be that more storage for clothes is required in the bedrooms. Maybe a chest of drawers rather than a chair, and some more hanging space and hangars. Also some shelving or storage space in the bathrooms. This said, l would have no problem in recommending these superb cottages. The welcome pack was much appreciated too. Thanks for a great stay. Will definitely look to return in the future. Very dog friendly with fantastic walks straight from the cottage.
Homestead was a great cottage and really wellmaintained perfect for the four of us. Brilliant to find somewhere that lives up to the online photos and the seaviews are fabulous. The swimming pool is really clean and it's great that you get to book it just for your group. We had a great time and will be back in future years.
Pauline
This was our first stay at North Farm Cottages and it was excellent. We have visited Northumberland many times and the cottage and its location by the coast was fabulous. The pool was a bonus!
Cottage absolutely fantastic. Welcome pack brilliant. Cottage very comfortable. I wish I had taken my own pillows and not very much storage for clothes. We would definitely go again. Peaceful and quiet yet near to every thing.
Robert
Wonderful stay. Cottage so clean and welcoming. Really enjoyed our holiday.
3rd year of visiting but 1st for this cottage, lovely living area space, ensuite was great for my 87yr old mum. Had a great stay as always. The only negative was the dust on the skirting boards and behind the doors, plus the wardrobes were badly designed with the hanging rail going front to back instead of across.... just me being picky. All in all a great place with the added use of the indoor swimming pool. Planning on coming back next year.
Norman
Everything was great apart from the toaster keep on tripping out the main power. I have reported it on the onsite form.
Third time we have visited and it does not disappoint. The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed. Nice walks from the cottage. Swimming pool is an added bonus too. Will definitely be returning.
Beautiful bungalow, with fine views from the lounge windows.
We loved this warm, cosy, clean and well appointed cottage. With sea views and set amongst beautiful beaches and countryside. Friendly and helpful staff. Our dog was well catered for, welcomed with treats, towel and bowls. Our welcome pack included all essentials. The new swimming pool and changing facilities were excellent. Well organised to ensure individual use. Would certainly go again. Ray and Margaret
Lovely cottage, very comfortable in a fantastic setting with great views, would definitely return, thank you.
We really enjoyed the stay and would definitely come again. Two things worth a mention 1. We didnt know it was first come first serve for the swimming pool slots. We thought they were allocated to us and so did not select any until a lot of slots were gone. 2. The beach was not a 20 min walk in our opinion and Id not describe it as a buggy friendly, exactly. We got through but was not easy in some places. It was worth it though as beach is great.
Fabulous setting and superb views especially of the sea. The pathway through the fields was excellent. Quiet area. Good parking. Well equipped although an ice cube tray would be a good addition We stayed 6 years ago and now feel that items like the settee and carpets are showing their age the carpets at the doorways are getting frayed and the material on the settees are quite worn.

The alteration to the booking of the pool Was a bonus as we could arrange our own pattern of use A minor point but the addition of another lamp to the opposite side of the room to the tv would be a benefit especially during the darker evenings Otherwise the accommodation is near perfect
This must be our eighth stay at North Farm, we have stayed in three different cottages and we are never disappointed. These cottages are consistently very good. The swimming pool is a valued extra.
Christine
Fabulous cottage, clean & comfortable, faultless, in lovely quiet country side, with sea views. The swimming pool is to die for, with your own hourly sessions, we didnt realise that during the off peak periods, you book these slots on arrival, and we had planned our days out around these. Dont be mislead by the 10 minute walk to the beach, we are used to walking and it took us 30 minutes, its a pleasant walk, but probably too far for those not used to walking. Considering all the cottages were booked, it didnt feel at all busy.
George
Good cottage but the experience felt a bit clinical rather than homely and lacks animals that you might expect on a holiday farm.
The cottage is perfectly situated for those that enjoy some easy walks, across the fields to the beach and the pub . A slightly more strenuous walk can be had to Craster for kippers freshly smoked.
Eleanor
Lovely stay lots of things to do within easy driving distance and visiting in Spring was lovely with floral smells from the fields and fields with lambs nearby. Good facilities
Graeme
The views, the swimming pool and the light, airy layout of the cottage

The more we use Sykes Cottages, the more impressed we are with everything from searching for a property to booking to enjoying our holiday. We are looking for our next holiday!
Home Stead cottage is a very spacious, comfortable and well equipped place to stay. All the information about the area and places to visit are provided with lovely views across the farmed fields to Embleton bay inc a sea view. Ideal for walkers who like gentle walks. There are facilities for children in the play area and use of the indoor heated swimming pool which is available on a rota basis for the several cottages on the complex. Embleton is very central to all the places of interest inc all the popular castles and places to eat. Our first visit to Northumberland was not disappointing and we will probably return in the future.
Sad that the swimming pool was not finished, but did not detract from the holiday, as we are from northeast and knew the area.
It was in a great location but we were a little disappointed how far away the beach was. I presumed it was nearer because the brochure said a stroll down a gentle sloping path .we are all pensioners so I suppose a younger person would get there quicker.we didn't make it to the beach after walking for about 30 mins. overall though it was a beautiful place within easy reach of the village.
Steven
This complex of accommodations is well situated for a large area of different attractions. Main concern was the fact that dip in the newly built swimming pool was advertised. It did not say it was still being built and the work was going on just outside your cottage, so don't take your swim wear folks. The bedrooms could have used more cloths drawer space and the Kingsize bed mattress was very soft, thin and noisy. They also need to look at what they are paying their cleaning team to do, changing beds and towels is not cleaning the cobwebs and dust accumulation. Having said all that, Northhumberland is great, extra woolly necessary but fantastic location.
Building work was being carried out right in front of property, we were woken up ... Building work was being carried out right in front of property, we were woken up between 7 and 8 most mornings, would have appreciated being warned regarding this and would have booked a hot tub cottage instead
