Harbottle Lodge Reviews

We had a fantastic stay at Harbottle Lodge. Well equipped kitchen with everything we needed to be able to cook our meals. Our hosts provided great instructions for us. It's on a lovely peaceful park. With lots to see a short car drive away
Elizabeth
Lovely, central location for travelling to and from the lodge which is situated in a tranquil setting. It is cosy, warm and well equipped with everything that is needed for a comfortable stay. We loved every moment of our stay here.
This is our second time this year in Harbottle lodge had a great time once again x
Harbottle Lodge was perfect for our 5 night break away, with family in Wooler it was an easy journey to catch up with them. It is set in a lovely quiet park, the lodge was very comfortable & well equipped. A small welcome pack would be nice eg tea, coffee & milk just to tide over before doing a shop.

Very ideal for visiting places around u. Village inn pub food beautiful Village shop helpful Just booked to go back

We returned to Harbottle lodge for a second year. The cabin is a great base for exploring the beautiful Northumberland area. The cabin has a very well equipped kitchen for cooking our meals. The Bed was very comfortable and the new shower was so much easier to use with excellent supply of Very hot water .Easy to use heating system. The village is a very quiet friendly place .We visited the local Village Inn for occasional meals and drinks which was also very welcoming.
Site itself is not pretty despite being listed as such, it is very tired & in need of a tidy and brightening up. The pot holes in the drive also need attention. The lodge itself was comfy, with good clean kitchen, good working shower and comfortable bed. However, the general cleanliness let it down and I felt I had booked prior to the season's 'spring clean'. The dust and filth under and behind the sofa was awful I only found this as a dog toy got lost under the sofa, this obviously hadn't been sweptcleaned in a long time ! All the windows were filthy, with cobwebs in between the two units they are also a weird design as they open inwards, so beware as they get in the way a lot. Decking hadn't been swept, outside table was dirty. All these things let it down as the park is in a great location to visit all the great areas in Northumberland like Bamburgh, Embleton, Alnmouth, Whitley Bay with very little travel time. Despite being a dog friendly lodge, there was no information about local dog walks or walks from the park. No welcome pack, not even a pint of milk. These little things & a good thorough clean would have made all the difference.
Fantastic cabin. So comfortable and will be booking again in the future. Very well equipped simple things like tea towels, washing up liquid and welcome pack with coffee, tea and biscuits provided, which is needed after a long drive. Thank you Wanda and Roger.
Hot water was a problem for the shower particularly, solved by running other taps unnecessarily to fire the boiler, which seems to need a service. We expect a freezer compartment in the fridge. The kettle handle seemed loose and potentially dangerous. In this day and age, a nonelectric kettle is outside most peoples' experience. It was also heavy and difficult to handle when full. A nonslip mat for the shower would be good. Although there is a launderette on site, there were no instructions as to how to use it, how much it cost etc. There was no obvious point of contact on site for any problems

This lodge is ideally situated for touring the surrounding areas. It is clean quiet and on a small select and friendly site. All necessary equipment is included for your stay.
Vivien
The chalet was very well equipped and clean. However the outside area for all the chalets was not in good condition and looked very tired and scruffy.
Christine
Lovely little Gem of a cabin very well equipped for all your needs we couldn't have asked for more. Great value for money. Great peaceful relaxing setting and Great base for exploring the Northumberland regions. Longframglinton is a very small village with limited amenities so you need to stock up on supplies from the larger villages as the londis is quite small but you can get all the basics. The Village Inn is a lovely welcoming pub so became a regular place to visit during our stay. Would definitely return again .
A nice lodge on a nice quiet lodge park.
Fantastic cabin on a lovely little site. Really cosy with modern facilities, fully furnished with everything you might need away from home. We had a lovely time. Only negative was, despite following the instructions, we couldn't get the shower hot. Would highly recommend the site and the cabin to others.
Hi. Omg what a cosy little quaint log cabin
Didn't realise this chalet was on a complex from the picture thought we would be fairly isolated. On directions there is no signpost to Swarland but there is a sign to Log Cabins. Lovely kitchen and great bed but struggled with the combi boiler water heating system. Front door & handle is a problem but I guess the owner knows this. Lots of thoughtful touches but we think this chalet needs a bit of a makeover. The one next door looked better. Hope these comments help.
Patricia
Harbottle lodge is in a fantastic location for local attractions. Situated on a lovely peaceful setting , kitchen is fully equipped . Kitchen was lovely and clean l feel sitting area and bathroom could be better. Very relaxing
Matthew
The pull out bed for the child could do with changing, not really comfortable to sleep on
What a beautiful wee holiday cabin! We had a fabulous time, staying at Harbottle Lodge for three nights. Our daughter Beatrice says it is the best holiday she has been on so far. The cabin is very comfortable, cosy, and easily sleeps 3. The kitchen looks brand new and had everything we needed. Great shower! Nice little patio furniture set out the front. You wouldnt even know there were other cabins nearby, it is such a quiet location. Theres a laundrette behind the cabin if needed, although we didnt go to find it. And a small play area for the kids. Theres also a bigger play ground in the village, which our daughter loved. There is a lovely little farm shop down the road, which stocks cheese, meat and a few other provisions. They also serve tea and coffee. We would also recommend The Running Fox tearoom in the village superb breakfast! book ahead, though. Mrs Gabb, the owner of the cabin, was excellent and we spoke on the phone ahead of arrival. We knew all we needed to know in advance of staying. I could sit here all day and write this review. Honestly, give the place a try. Its 1010 from us. Thank you. Definitely coming back!
Robert
Nice well equiped cabin . No issues whatsoever and helpful owner available to help if needed. Great location close to village with 2 pubs serving food and next to farm shop selling organic produce. Terrific location with coastal villages nearby as well as Cragside NT property and many scenic walks in area. Recommended for couples .
Comfortable stay in a wellequipped cabin with plenty of local walks and within a short drive of the coast.
Hot water system problematic at times. I think the system needs topping up as the pressure gauge was showing a below normal pressure.
Nice quiet location, warm, comfortable, clean and dog friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and would like to come back again. Thank you
Charlotte
Wonderful property close to all the major tourist attractions but hidden away enough to feel really secluded. Lovely play area for children and amazing views of the hills. The lodge is so comfortable and clean. We would definitely stay again.
Kathleen
I have already sent a complaint to yourself and the owner alas a complete waste of time. Lodge was not as advertised in your pictures hence we were very disappointed as I had booked the holiday as a surprise present for my partner. The lodge was not cleaned to an acceptable standard, left over opened packets of food left in an uncleaned cupboard, heavily stained carpets and furniture in desperate need of replacement.Hot water was very temperamental and the bathroom sink leaked water out before we could wash. All in all a very disappointing lodge, expected better for the price paid especially as I booked it through yourselves.
Terence
Great cabin, clean well looked after site, everything that is needed for a short stay, comfortable, great location and good communication with the owners. We would thoroughly recommend this holiday let
Robert
Lovely homely cabin offering comfortable stay. Thoughtful extra goodies where lovely touch. Access road a bit bumpy but didn't spoil stay. Would stay again.
A perfect rural retreat on a quiet complex of wood cabin lodges providing an excellent base from which to explore the wonderful Northumbrian coastline. The cabin is well equipped and provided an ideal comfortable base to return to after long days walking the Northumbrian coast. Nowhere is too far away the furthest I travelled was 45 minutes to visit Holy Island and there are superb quiet sandy beaches 25 minutes away at Alnwick and Warkworth. The welcome pack on arrival Tea, Milk, Bread, Butter, OJ and biscuits was much appreciated.
Deborah
Our stay at Harbottle cabin was lovely. The cabin is located in a small cabin park called Fram park. There are only 14 cabins on site, so its very cosy. The atmosphere is relaxed and family and dog friendly. Its not a party place. If you would like to stay here, you need to understand its a cabin in the countryside. Although the modern comforts are there, they are more basic than for example in a cottage. The only thing we really missed was a washing machine in the cabin, as the one in the park is quite expensive and doesnt do the job properly. I would also request the cleaner to do a springdeep clean, with attention to detail inside of the double windowsoutside of windowscorners of cabindeep clean oven. All in all it was an amazing stay, the owners were helpful when we had a rubbishflytip issue. We left the cabin totally relaxed. If you truly want to switch off for a few days, this is the place to be.

Jacqueline
This property was Not upto standard we expected. Issues with cleanliness of bed linen, stained carpet trouble turning on and off taps on sink and trouble with front door sticking. Would not go back or recommend this place.
Carole
We had a lovely 3 nights stay in this lodge. It had everything you needed. Bed was very comfortable. We also went to the local pub called the Village Inn which had a lovely food.
Fantastic week in Northumberland, Harbottle Lodge was perfect clean, cosy, comfy ... Fantastic week in Northumberland, Harbottle Lodge was perfect clean, cosy, comfy bed and in a great location to explore the amazing coastline
Denise
A comfortable, well equipped cabin. Lovely and warm too. Good location to visit the sights of Northumberland.
Christopher
A fantastic, comfortable base for exploring beautiful Northumberland.
Caroline
Lovely lodge with everything you could need. Great location. Would definitely return.
Lovely, cosy well appointed lodge on a quiet site in a nice village which is pretty much central to most sightseeing places, beaches etc. , and you could even pop to Edinburgh on the train from Morpeth. We took the park and ride into Newcastle at Great Park which was reasonably priced and took us into the centre. The return bus is stand R in the bus station. There is a play area and laundry facilities on site and bin day is on a Friday which we hadnt realised until too late!
Manuel
The lodge owner was very responsive and helpful. All instructions about the lodge were very clear and the facilities were good.
Cosy comfortable chalet with all amenities to hand, excellent location for visiting the countryside & coast.
